- Dragon's Dogma 2 is almost here, set to release on March 22nd. But before the thrilling adventure begins, we have to tackle the eternal challenge of the game's character creation system.
In this video, we'll thoroughly explore DD2's new character creator, delving into all the revealed options for our Arisen and main pawn focusing on the many heroes we can each create.
My aim is to save you a bit of time when the game drops, and we all find ourselves facing the inevitable creator system.

As they said about character creation its gonna be ultimate first boss for some us
Two things: the possibility to save presets and the secret of metamorphosis. If the game has both, and if they really changed how the stat allocation works, I will literally play this game forever. The role playing options are endless.
Good news for you, included in the pre-order is the art of metamorphosis. The pre-order stuff will probably be available in-game later as stated, so that's one to tick off your list.
Three things they NEED to do….. make the game WAY more difficult because the first one gets wayyyyy to easy and boring after one playthrough. Two, make the enemies spawn randomly!!! How boring is it when you know where every single enemy is going to be in the game??? I know where they’re all at in the first game and it only takes two hits to kill most. I can play the game for hours without dying, which is boring. Three, and this is a big one, make it a true open world game!!!! Like Red Dead Redemption or Skyrim where gameplay is basically unlimited as far as quests and side quests and shit to do. The first game was extremely limited in this aspect. Great game for sure but I’m hoping they don’t make these mistakes again. I have the feeling enemies will always spawn in the same spot which is SUPER lame.

@@AloneAgainstAll8855They likely have improved massively since the first game. The IP is essentially a passion project with Hideaki Itsuno fantasizing about it since his school days according to him. The fact he waited over a decade to make the sequel is proof enough he had no intentions of rushing into something until he had the technology available to make it the game of his dreams.

Have noticed that we have only 3 option armors including accessory (4)
It mean that we cant wear our characters in a detailed way like before so maybe no bikini armors and lingeries...
Came here with same question. Honestly, the only single game that has more or less decent character maker with chest slider is Nioh-2 (or Wu Long, same company, same engine). And even there it feels weird and kind of unnatural. Perhaps because of animations, idk...

I know its a pretty vanilla choice, but I love being able to make half elf characters so the fact that you can give yourself elf ears is awesome
height and weight play in types of accessibility like being dwarf can maneuver small tunnels, heavy can counteract wind, tall can jump catch flyers enemies.
this system might break my longest Charachter creator time (3 hrs from baldurs gate)

No sliders or anything, just presets, hair, and colors lol.

@@bensimons4417Well, I also spend a lot of time in BG3 character creation... but I've actually spend most time on Baldur's Gate 1 character creation, painting a custom portrait 😅
Can't wait to spend the first 3 hours crafting my first character, playing, then deleting that character because i didn't like his nose.
The pre order includes the art of metamorphosis so I think it's safe to say that it will function exactly the same
Edit: the one with the pre-order would be the single use version as long as it's going by the same name as in DDDA which means it's likely that we can get the unlimited version after completing the "Main story" (beating the dragon)
Or they'd paywall it like in MHW, but given the fact that many aspects of the Arisen's physicality will have a direct impact on gameplay in various forms, I'm hopeful that they don't.
@@yaqubebased1961 It will almost certainly have NG+ functioning identically to the first which would still give you at least 1 free change per playthrough regardless, also that's a bit of a difference between MHW and DD two different teams and how they choose to implement things. Frankly can't see Itsuno harming his baby with pointless monetization
@@Lockz1111 Agree, but DMC5 had buyable red orbs. I just want it to be the best thing it can be, but Capcom's suits make a lot of the decisions. It's up to Itsuno-san to keep his baby safe from their greedy mitts.
@@yaqubebased1961 I'm not too terribly concerned, it seems that the teams that are passionate enough are able to defend them pretty well. MHW for instance retained its free content updates and events with completely cosmetic items being the only thing that was additional (well that and iceborne) but with DD customizations affecting gameplay I feel it's in a different category to cosmetics and the DD team is at least as passionate about their game as the MH team is

I recommend you to see a guide or wiki for how some of the mechanics works, especiallyt regarding stats. The game is a masterwork but I does do a poor job at explaining some things.

Honestly I can't wait for the game to come out I'm a big fan of Dragon Dogma I found out in the website you could be an elf but it's unknown until they give us more details about it that's what I found out in the website because while I was reading the races it says you could be human or beast race but the elf is unknown I hope we could be elf because at least we could learned the elf culture in the game just like Dragon Age but I can't wait to play the game when it comes out😊
Compared that to Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Symphony. They have the elven race and human race. So suppose if the human and elf were to romance and get kids, that child can end up being half elf half human. Based on the story in Tales of Phantasia as well as Tales of Symphony, elves have a longer life span which means they normally do not turn old unlike humans. Elves actually live for more then 100 years. I don't know if that same rules do apply to the elves in DD2. I just thought I tell you about the elf culture in Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Symphony.
@hp2546 that will be really awesome but just like I said before in Dragon Dogma 2 it's not confirmed it's unknown until they confirm that we are able to create elf race in the game they said that your pawn could be an elf but to be an elf yourself is unknown until they confirm it and it will be awesome😀

@@wasabilover1293 Yeah, I'm just confused because the minimum height number doesn't go down on the top slider to accommodate the separate changes to the legs, etc.
The character creator looks to be so good! I am currently doing another run of DDDA right now and I made my 2 favourite anime characters at the moment, One Piece's Sanji as my main and Zoro as his pawn. I have a feeling I will do the same for DD2! Might give my Sanji pointed ears though!
That should fit the theme because Sanji in One Piece is considered a womanizer. If you had sex with Aelinore during that Duchess in Distress sidequest and then choose another woman based on your choice, then your arisen gets an opportunity to have sex with more then 1 woman.
Think I'm gonna go male sorcerer modelled after myself (bald male w/ beard), and for my main pawn the female elf archer from Record of Lodoss War.
I hope the end game armor looks better than on Dark Arisen. Less demonic looking. I'm referring to the Hellfire and Sin sets. It's mostly the helmet for me. I just don't like it.
Yea we seriously need a way to apply appearances across pieces so you can have the stats but preserve the look. Already worried about it considering we went from 7 gear slots down to 4.
I just stuck with the immortal set. I love the crusader tabard and great helm look

Here is exactly why the pawn excuse for 1 save slot is a lie. On Playstation you can upload your save with your uploaded pawn, delete your save file, and play as a new character. Your pawn upload however remains and you can safely play on this new character and choose to either overwrite your existing uploaded pawn, or redownload your old save and resume as if you never deleted it. This is proof that multiple saves can exist, and its simply a matter of only allowing one of your pawns to be the uploaded pawn.

Such a cool idea that somehow never occured to me with khajit in Skyrim. I notice every beastren in this video looks specifically like a lion though?
Man, I was really hoping to play as a real elf in this and not some bootleg version. Huge let down for me. They already have elves and a place for them in the game, how much more difficult would it have been to let us play as one. :(
Well if you want to change your character look mid I don’t know if this will change but if you preorder the deluxe edition of dragon dogma 2 they give you an item to which let’s you do that hopefully it changes as you progress through the game but that’s the earliest I know for you to change your character’s appearance 😅so the item is called the art of metamorphosis
How many save slots are avaliable to the player per account?
How many characters can we create on 1 account without needing to delete prior characters?

did....did they get rid of being able to make your character fat of skinny? Like the one thing that is super noticeable? On of the thing that set it apart from other games customizers?
If they have art of metamorphosis in the deluxe edition then there will probably be a book called secret of metamorphosis that will enable infinite character edits just like the first game. I’m not sure how plentiful the art of metamorphosis will be in the game

Makes me wonder the same, Seeing the video, minimum hight seems to be 160cm for human, the 1st games minimum was 140cm hight.. so maybe who knows

The thing about the pawn system requiring you to have one save is silly. Just let us select and mark what we want to be our main save to send out, easy, done, end of story, not an excuse for a stupid annoying decision.

I really had to google it lmao. Like who tf is that? Not to my particular tastes but yea I'll be making a fighter lady, who later is a warfarer utilizing fighter, warrior, and archer. Can't freakin wait! Sadly this game got toned down for gear customization having only 4 gear slots instead of 7. This is as an excuse to censor the game for western audiences but at least the game looks amazing.
This game is giving way more options then the first DD. Still gonna play as a human though. Pitty we can't choose to be an elf. Really wanted to live out my hardened link fantasy.
I'm so glad we have beast races. I always get lost in the minutiae with the character creator sliders. I don't know what a human is supposed to look like when it gets ai granular like brow weight, ear size, nostril depth etc, but i know what a cat looks like.
I made my character in DD a halfelf by changing the ears :D pointy ears are superior!

Weight and height in DD1 also modified your stamina and strike length.....
when it comes to Character Creation (IF) the character Creation is Good I can spend 1 - 2 hrs trying to get the Look I want.
Also if we could have dwarves and elf's includes as well as being able to play as one it would be a dream game come to life for me 😤

The real question is will a characters weight and frame effect game stats and animations as profoundly as it did in DD1?
So can anyone confirm or deconfirm if you can actually play as an elf this time around instead of just a human with pointed ears? Would be really fucking disappointing if they made a sequel where you could literally play as a human or a frickin' *CAT* but for whatever reason left out elves despite making their hidden village and indecipherable language a plot point.

I'm actually making the main character of a strategy RPG I am remaking, which was inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics and Shining Force. My brother and friends will be making their favorite characters of the project lol
I for my exsample tought the first Chara Creator was pretty restricted.
I liked playing as a dwarf. Just a buff little man with stubby legs. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can do that anymore. You can't go short anymore. Just slightly below average. Which is already a bummer.
I'd like to see a character creator that uses descriptors to help you define your look. Say you want a "svelte" "elf" with a "noble bearing" and the game brings up the body types and faces that carry those tags. That way you could put in your favourite characters description and the game could bring them to life.
I know we can only have one save file, but I hope there's a way to save presets, because I really want to just make characters for like 4 hours straight lol
What about DD1? Sleeping at the inn already counts as autosaving the game. In DD1, 2 ways to save. One is click save. The other save option is sleep at the inn. DD1 gives more then 1. There are 2 loading options to choose from

@@amirahp1690 Thankx, but unfortunately, yesterday I had to have surgery on it. The tip of one of the bone broke in to three pieces, so I now have a plate in my wrist to make sure that the bone heals properly. Two weeks in a permanent cast, 4 weeks in a removable cast (it so that I can exercise my wrist from time to time), and then another 6 weeks of physical therapy. yay.😋

I made three guest users for my ps4 to play different characters. I think I'll shoot for a male white lion. Not sure about vocation. Always played strider/ assassin before. Liked having up close and ranged options.
The fact we can't play elf's kinda annoys me, idk why devs like to limit players like this in an rpg.

The one save file used to bother me long ago but I had an epiphany! I just created multiple new accounts to make new Arisens thus new pawns giving me my own private army of pawns fully decked out with the gear/skills I need/ want! So much fun.
I’m going to be spending an hour on creating my own character and then another hour on creating my pawn ♟️ can’t wait 😁
I’m concerned about the streamlining of Pawn personalities
It seems you can’t have a snarky Mage Pawn who’s inclined towards healing (since now Kindhearted is the healing priority personality)
Or a quiet & stoic Warrior Pawn who charges into battle (as Calm is now a personality and Straightforward is the aggressive charge in personality)
I’m concerned about how one dimensional the Pawns are now that we can’t customize differences between how they react to us versus how they interact with others
My main Pawn is grumpy & aggressive towards enemies, but gets emotional when I’m hurt
It worries me that we won’t have as nuanced Pawns

I want to make myself (male) a warrior human and my main pawn a female eked archer. Then for my two other pawns I’d like to find a smaller beast their that looks like a black panther and then just some generic mage looking guy/girl for the mage.
I can't wait to get my hands on DD2 and start my 3 hour charcater design 😂 If it's anything like WWE 2K series, which it looks even more in depth. I will be in there for a while. One thing though, they haven't shown if at all, you can color your gear. Now of you go to the actual web page. When you view the classes, I forget which one. They have a female character with Redish pink gear on. So I Don't know if that's for show, or u will be able to color all your outfit parts.
Ps I'm creating a Sophie Turner Red Sonja. Who hales from the Conan The Barbarian series 😊 she would look great as that character.

Wow! I can really picture your whole party member almost like Tales of Phantasia. In that game, a main character will have party member with humans and 1 team member who is considered a half elf. Based on how DD2 is seen, it is clear that humans and elves can work together as a team.

@@karlmarshall4482 What if you have a romance choice in DD2? Are you going to make sure a human and elf can romance? I remember in Tales of Phantasia, when a human and elf were to romance together, get married and have kids, that child will be born as half human half elf.
I know in Tales of Phantasia, that main character needed an elf because during that time only an elf have the ability to use magic. Long story short, they settled for recruiting a half elf.

While the 1 save sounds like a limitation, for the type of game DragDog is, it's perfect.
People shouldn't get hyped for DragDog with the impression it's the same kind of RPG as Dragon Age or other western RPGs. It's more akin to Dark Souls than it is of Dragon Age and people shouldn't be expecting a story that justifies having 100 different saves for each decision, especially since New Game + is a central feature of the game.
If it's like the first game then there won't be any real major decision points with ramifications like there might be in western RPG's, more akin to "give the king a forgery of a magic ring so I can keep the real magic ring". People should go into Dragon's Dogma with the mindset of it being a fantasy action game moreso than an rpg

Ever archer on screen is always shown with just a bow... why no daggers or sword... archer is going to be proper boring or its going to be lame if u can switch but then ur bow vanishes when u change weapon 😅
