Thank you so much for this informational video Omkar. Being an international student, I really appreciate such content because it is confusing for someone who has never filed taxes before. I appreciate your efforts and your content. Thank you!!
when you are on CPT/OPT internship period in Michigan, what Taxes do the companies deduct(I mean are we suppose to pay, Federal Income Tax, State Income Tax, Medicare Income tax, Social security) ?
Thank you so much for this video. It really gave me a better understanding. I am on a student visa and work for an internship and on-campus job. Do you still recommend going to a CPA?
You are right. IRS kept my money for 2 years before it when I used a ‘bad’ CPA. Investing in a good CPA helped me ‘MAKE’ that money back. It’s a matter of perspective😉
Hi, I was working 40 hours a week during summer without being enrolled in any course during summer. My social security and Medicare was deducted for summer and my university said that it's because I was I was not enrolled. Can I claim that back?
Bro, I wanted to ask one importatnt question. Im a civil engineering 2017 passed out. Im working as a site engineer, the pay is very very less. im thinking about doing my masters in transporation engineering in usa. my marks in btech is also very average. but Im sure, if i join masters in usa, ill study very well. I dont have any experience in transportation engineering field. So i was curious about job oppurtunities in usa although i have no experience as a transportation engineer. Because if I have to spend about 40-50 lakhs for doing masters, atleast i have to have certainity of finding a job so that I can pay off my study loan. Considering my background and also considering the fact that ill study very well if i join masters, how certain can i be of finding a job. and are there jobs in usa in the field of transportation engineering ? which civil engineering field is best for job garunttee? Thank you.
Can we invest in stocks while we are on f1 visa ? I'm planning to persue my undergrad degree in civil engineering could you make me clear about the scope of civil engineering in the present days in US.

Hi @omkar, thank you so much for this informative video. Can you please also make video on Car buying tips based on your experience in US?
Sure will do👍🏻
I missed those days on youtube when the videos had less intro and self-promotion. And were focused on the searched content.
You came to the right place. I will try to make it even less about myself.
@@ImmigrantTalks Thanks Boss!

I am under F1 visa. So how much percentage do I need to pay.
You didn't "make" those money, you overpaid taxes and took it back.

Hello Omkar, I am on f1 visa since jan 2018. Do I need to pay taxes as non resident or resident?
I opened my investment wallet before I came us so I open it without ssn and now I’m in usa should i have declare it with file tax?
I have some fno losses in stock market- does it get offset with my income from job ?
Can we make updates to the previous years tax filings and get returns for this year?
Yes you can do that, your CPA will be able to help you with that.

Yes, hire a CPA he will help you get it back.
does one really need to preserve those hard copies of tax files or just keeping the PDF soft copies are enough?
My CPA gives me hard copies. You can keep soft ones. It’s fine.
as an F1 student working at school who made less than 1000$, do I need to file and which form?
Yes you do. It’s not a form. Ask college how to file taxes and get w2 form from them.
Which sem?

@@ImmigrantTalks thank you very much.
Could you please share the CPA contact information? that your friend recommended, who charged you $250 for your appointment.
Hello, so sorry i sent to many folks to my CPA this year. He has stopped taking any more referrals. Consider finding one locally or HR block

Yes, if you have SSN number.
Even ITIN those who are non resident alien can open the account with brokerage and need to file the taxes what u made
No offense, the mindset of people is negative. Why want to come to our country then don't want to pay a dim to contribute tax?
Paying 35k-$45k is fine, but anything above $50k is a bit steep so a saving of 5k-10k is pretty reasonable
Informative
👍🏻
Thank you Omkar. I very recently learnt that I have won my H1B. Please advise weather my Indian Income needs to be declared. if yes, from which year.
