I’m 17 and I played this game when I was little. I hope I can get it again someday as well as a Nintendo 64 again. This game was so good and i was so young I couldn’t ever go past a few levels, I’d get so sad when the Yoshi would be taken to the castle I just wanted to go save them all, idk what the ending to this is but I wanna play to find out finally.
Yoshi’s story, Kirby 64, Mario 64, ocarina of time, majora’s mask, pokemon stadium and snap, super smash bros, star fox … this truly was the golden age of gaming. I love all these games to death, and I wish I could go back and play them for the first time. It’s crazy that a single console could bring so much joy
Super Mario 64, Mario kart 64, Yoshis story, Goldeneye, Turok among so many other games, some of the best times of my childhood! Currently 35 and waiting for spiderman 2 to come out on ps5 😂
@@joveezus1347 yes, but lots of kids had stuff that was passed down from their older siblings and whatnot. I was only born in 99 but grew up with lots of earlier 90's stuff that my brother had like Sega, VHS tapes and DBZ

Just played through this game for the first time. Its charm, whimsicality and sense of joy left an immense impact on me. A wonderful experience all around.
Yoshis Story is one the Yoshi Game that introduced a lot of people to the series a lot of actually!😅 Its definitely up there with my favorite N64 games besides Mario 64,Kirby 64 and the Crystal Shards,Pokemon Snap,Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2,Mischief Makers,Glover,Chameleon Twist 2,Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, and Zelda Ocarina of Time.
I remember playing this game as a kid on the N64 with my brothers. At first we were confused. We obviously knew Mario and Yoshi but the aesthetic and sounds were strange. It turned out to be awesome and we would play it late into the night. I think early experiences as a child with weird games, movies, music, etc. shape who we are as adults, and Yoshi Story is one of those games that laid the foundation of that appreciation for "weirdness."
I bashed it because of this 9:42 PLEASE MAKE IT STOP! Alas i could never finish the N64 game, the singing drove me crazy But SNES Yoshis Island was awesome!
@@Sparrows1121 LOL Sparrows that shit is hilarious, but honestly as the games sits its pretty decent. But then again I'm listening to kelly osbournes papa don't preach so I can pretent to be 15 again.
There was one Yoshi 3D Platformer in development by Argonaut Games, but it was rejected by Nintendo, as they no longer had confidence in 3rd Parties handling 1st Party IPs after the failure of the Phillips CD-i and the avoided backstab by Sony during development of the canceled SNES CD. That 3D Platformer would later become Croc: Legend of the Gobbos.
My childhood game, I love this game so much! Took me so many years to remember it’s name looking through out all Nintendo64 games but I finally found it! So cute! Honestly this seems like a hard hard for a child! I don’t remember finishing this! The theme always makes me wanna cry so cute! I love it! ❤
As a kid i was literally struggling so hard with these elephants at the beginning of the game i dreaded so much. My thought process was that i had to outrun him instead of stomping on the ground.
I remember playing this at my grandparents house when i visited every wednesday, the wind up clock on the wall, the mint green couch, sitting on the floor in front of the tv, sneakily asking grandma for a cookie because grandpa would say no. Thank you for bringing that moment back, miss you grandma.
I forgot the music changed when you were almost dead, and then started up again when you got your health back. I also forgot that the music is off key at first like the musician is trying to remember where his place is.
Got this for christmas when it came out. I was 8, between this, space station silicon valley, golden eye, turok and banjo kazooie and mario 64 it shaped me into the gamer i am today. I now do game design on the side and this bringing back memories i may base my next game on the aesthetic of yoshi story art style with a final fantasy turn based tactical gameplay.
If it was in another era some would say this game or at least it's music has magic properties. Damn it's always hard to fight the tears like cutting onion 😢
Oh my gosh.... my heart dude 💔 😢 one of my favorite games as a child... still is. Makes me sad to know I can never give back. But happy to have loved this game as a kid.
Wow this gameplay just gave me a floodgate of memories, my mom would play this time and time again i would play to but i was little and she was better at it , would cry every time a yoshi would be taken to the dungeon hospital tho 😂 Mom always assured me they were ok lol she isn't here physically anymore but things like this, seeing this gameplay made the memories come up 💜
I loved this game when i was little i would play it all the time but my older brother thought it was so annoying when he was trying to sleep so he smashed it 😭
Yoshi's Story looks more like a Super Nintendo game than a Nintendo 64 game. Am gonna try it again 1 day as soon as i install my brothers Nintendo 64 i got from him together with some Nintendo 64 games some weeks ago. 💙
I have the N64 and game itself! This is my favorite N64 game of all time it does what a good 2d Yoshi game should do! I even love how stupidly hard the all melon's challenge is! Like it is actually challenging unlike *most* of todays video games
I too have a hard time understanding it. It also looks slow compared to Yoshi's island on Snes. I'm also not a fan of Yoshi or other Nintendo characters making noises when jumping, licking or getting hit.
I remember getting home from school and immediately hopping on the 64 to play this

Sucks that everyone bashed this game at the time because it wasn’t 3D.
Then again, I do wish Yoshi would get his own 3D platformer some day
It's because the n64 main thing was 3d games and they released a game that looks like it should belong on snes. But it is a fun game I do agree.
