The most enjoyment I got from this mode, was seeing the ending of the story the set up. That was actually really cool and I wanna see them do more of that, but it's gonna suck having to play through Invasions just to see it.
I have a problem with how frequently you get ambushed without the mask and that's not the worst part. You would think doing the whole invasion with one character would get their mastery levels completed. Wrong, the character mastery is the worst

So, I finished Invasion mode today, all nodes completed, all netherstone gates opened, all chests opened. Long story short, it was a very tedious, boring, repetitive grind, however I think the mode can at least be salvaged to be somewhat fun but it needs some changes for next season. So, here’s some suggestions I got from my time with it - 1. The armor on enemies needs to go, I get it’s tied into the whole “vulnerable” mechanic but I don’t think anyone will miss this mechanic if it goes away. The armor is honestly just an annoyance more than anything else, take it out. 2. Either Ambushes or Secret Fights need to go, we don’t need both as they’re basically the exact same thing, a random unwanted fight that you can’t avoid. Sometimes I’m just trying to get from point A to point B, maybe get to a shop or a node I missed but then nope, random ambush, this is annoying, STOP IT OR TONE DOWN HOW OFTEN IT HAPPENS. What’s worse is they hardly ever give you anything valuable anyway, usually just some koins or a talisman. Which brings me to my next point. 3. STOP GIVING ME TALISMANS! I made it through the entirety of Invasion mode without using a single talisman except for the one secret path than requires you to use a talisman 4 times to open it. I’m not saying they’re useless but you absolutely just don’t need them which begs the question why am I getting one every 2 encounters? This becomes problematic quickly because you have limited space to store talismans so once you max out that space and acquire a new one you have to discard one you currently have before you can do anything else. THIS TAKES WAY TOO LONG and HAPPENS WAY TO OFTEN which halts what is an already a slow grindy process. Either remove the limit of talismans you can hold or just stop giving them to me if my inventory is full because honestly, I don’t even want them but the games forces them and the inventory management that comes with them on you. Speaking of inventory management... 4. Unlike talismans I did actually find Konsumables useful however you’re only able to carry 5 at a time. This becomes problematic when if I’m currently holding 5 and receive another from an encounter the game forces me to discard one before I can do anything else. I can’t sell one for a few coins, I can’t even use one to free up space I have to discard one before I can do anything else. WHAT?!?!? At the very least I should have an option to use one instead of having to giving up something I might find valuable later. Either remove the limit on Konsumables you can hold (honestly it’s not like they come around that often anyway) or give me an option to sell or use one instead of a mandatory discard if my inventory is full. .5 Give an option to instantly sync your skill points between characters. I played through the mode mostly with Kitana but here and there to open secret paths I would have to play as different characters but when I did this I would have to first allocate the skill points in the same or a similar way to how I had them with Kitana otherwise I’d be supremely disadvantaged against stronger enemies. Just a quick option to allocate my earned skill points for other characters to the exact same values as my main character would be a nice time saver. 6. Last thing give us a proper top-down map of the entire Mesa we’re in. Sometimes I just wanna see a path and where it leads before going down it. Funny enough the reason being is because usually I’m trying not to move too many nodes before settling on one because I’m afraid of another time consuming Ambush popping up but also it would just be good to be able to see the whole thing when we want to. The zoom out feature currently in the mode is pathetic, it really doesn’t allow you to see much of anything more than when you’re not zoomed out. So, these are just few quality of life changes that would make this mode a lot more tolerable for me personally. Overall, I just honestly don’t really like the mode and I don’t really know what could be done about that but these changes I think would a lease help it some.

@@iDriveAhondaCivic IMHO the best talismans are the armor ones. Energy or magic. The level 25 ones have 9 charges. They really work if you want to level up another character quickly since one charge gives you full armor for the whole match pretty much.
I'm loving mk1, but I have to admit invasions is pretty dogshit. I've always hated these modes that make you fight AI with bullshit modifiers, super armor, and ridiculous amounts of health. And I'm pretty sure I've been getting a new talisman every single fight. Also the masks that supposedly stop ambushes are fucking broken. I can't tell you how many times I equipped one and got ambushed anyway 5 seconds later. Glad to see you making mk content though. Looking forward to more in the near future.
I completely agree with you. I’m at Shang Tsung’s Laboratory and I’m so bored, I don’t even want to continue. I never mind a grind for cosmetics in video games, but I very much mind when that grind is so. freaking. repetitive. How hard could it be to make more games like Survive and TYM?? I mean, those games are piss easy, but at least it’s something different. I really hope NRS makes some changes to Invasions before the next season.
i loved the story but this invasion mode is terrible. modifier battles are so annoying . I can't stand fighting damage resistant enemies with stupid modifiers like no lights or out of screen fireballs that only can hit you. got through the first area but that shit was lame, never trying it again
If there’s one thing from Invasions that I absolutely despise, it’s the online requirement. Seems that NRS never listened after what they had done from MK11 by making Towers of Time an online-only mode.
Is this something that got fixed with time? I mean, i'm not getting a ton of ambushes and i've not had to delete a single Talisman due to inventory. I got the game just recently when it went on sale on Steam for $30 with the full Khaos Reigns expansion. (if you want this game for cheap, its still $30 until Jan 2nd 2025 on Steam)
Out of all the modes NOT to have the intro dialogues you would think this one wouldn’t be one of them. With how many fights we get under 5mins they could have at least relieve the frustration of the infinite grind by letting us enjoy the dialogues freely with every encounter. I finished it today , saw that Nitara and possibly Sub-Zero are the next seasons and I’m not interested. If they don’t vastly change this mode I don’t see anyone playing it by the end of this year(unless it’s to unlock a skin and even then some would rather use their wallets for that) What’s the point of them ambush and secret fights besides over stuffing you with talismans ? And these armored ennemies ? I swear armor, chaos element and ambush is what made that shit endless(let’s not even talk about the bosses with hella lot of unfair perks , one of them being that damn fucking armor 🤬🤬 I swear I hate that shit)
Invasion mode is an interesting Idea but I think they executed it poorly, after you go through it once you really dont have any motivation to play it again. The rank system is horrible it takes hours to max out a character, and you have to reach 14 just unlock something basic like the second fatality.
I wish they would take this board game format and make a "mario party" game mode online kinda like the mario kart spin-off they made way long ago "motor kombat"

Also online when you see the 1234 instead of the buttons is because 1⬅️ 2⬆️ 3⬇️ 4 ➡️ so top two is 1 and higher is 2 lower buttons 3 then four. Hope that helps

I personally got a lot of enjoyment from this mode but I didn’t the survival parts in some of the bosses and that it’s too time consuming and you only get get rewards from some chests and some bosses I wish they gave skins and gear instead of the talismans which are sorta useless

Compared to MK11, it was little disappointing, too long to level up characters, even with few clever ways. Hopefully the season two update will improve this mode. Oh, and stop dumping these damn talismans prize on us!
I'm actually appaled by this mode. No shame in trying new things but the execution is nothing short of terrible. Should've just kept the Krypt and expand it. I bought this game at a massive discount because I wanted to stay loyal to the franchise, but it's not worth the full price by a longshot.
I still think Invasion Mode is better than Street Fighter 6's World Tour mode. At least with Invasion, you are working for gear, coins and cosmetic items which can be transferred to the base game unlike World Tour which is pretty much all gear for your created character to use in that mode only.
@@mrstudent9125it absolutely does, to each their own but the fact that you can obtain gear/skins from those mode is the only redeeming quality. SF6’s worked tour acted as a tutorial for new players, had 2 large hub worlds to explode littered with SF easter eggs and references, and you got to interact with classic SF characters in ways you never have before. And it had a narrative story underneath all of it, it wasn’t a great one it wasn’t super deep but it was there. Invasion Mode feels like World of Light from Smash Ultimate and that shit was a chore.
I really don't mind grind to some extent. And I guess it's nice that there's a single player mode in a pvp game? But honestly I just find it boring, even annoying to play. I don't care about all these additional items, augments, talismans, whatever they are. I just wanna fight. I don't mind minigames, i don't mind the dodging, i don't mind test your might, hell i don't mind just fighting an actual cpu, i don't mind if they're very hard cpus but these additonal effects happening mid game like super armor or other shit like random attacks appearing on screen are just annoying. Also on the point of learing or getting used ot characters in the mode, what makes it even worse is you can't even learn them against a "regular" opponent because of all the modifiers & super armor & whatever other bullshit. Sure the CPU isn't the "realest" practice method but atleast it's in a realistic game and you can practice your combos properly without bs. I don't know if there is a method to earn the invasion skins outside of this mode but I doubt there is, but honestly I would rather have players be able to earn all the rewards from the invasion mode through regular matches, online, offline, ranked, towers and try to make the new game mode FUN so players WANT to do it. So players who like playing alone vs a cpu can get enjoyment & fun out of the game and the players who like playing vs real players can stil learn the rewards by doing so. I had the same issue with the towers in MK11 and now they pretty much reskinned them but they're just as annoying & boring to play. Also the worst part about all of this is that the krypt was honestly kinda fun in MK11 and instead they remove the Krypt and put in a reskinned version of the towers of time. I'd rather have MK11's Krypt back but have it be updated with new areas to explore & chests to loot.

Krypt was so much better. I was so hyped to see the krypt in this game and konquest but we get this repetitive BS. The maps look nice in invasions but overall the mode is so boring.
I have already hit lvl 100 from playing invasion mode, you get way too much xp for the amout of time a fight takes. Especialy when you put all points into attack.

There is no arguing that it is an extremely repetitive mode and just because you like it doesn't change that. Combat modifiers are bullshit and super cringe. I have zero problems with grinding. I grew up on Final Fantasy and Monster Hunter for fuck's sake. Yes, the armor of the enemies needs to go. I usually activate my own armor, but then it’s just two fighters standing and mashing buttons - boooooring
I sold my 4 use talisman so can’t even do that secret. Hoping I get another one with 4 charges soon. This mode is terrible

Invasions is so damn boring. It's just a tower mode with all the same repetitive fights. I fight like 100 Geras's per map. Just put a damn konquest
It also don't help that it is the same map for around 30 to 50 fights so it feels longer than it would normally.
Tip if you encounter a secret fight just press pause and select go back to map to skip over it.Doesn’t work with towers obviously

Compared to MK11, it was little disappointing, too long to level up characters, even with few clever ways. Hopefully the season two update will improve this mode. Oh, and stop dumping these damn talismans prize on us!

I didn't like the Krypt in MKX because of the grind to get to a single fucking item unlocked with gold, but this stupid invasion mode is even worse.

I'm actually appaled by this mode. No shame in trying new things but the execution is nothing short of terrible. Should've just kept the Krypt and expand it.
I bought this game at a massive discount because I wanted to stay loyal to the franchise, but it's not worth the full price by a longshot.
I still think Invasion Mode is better than Street Fighter 6's World Tour mode. At least with Invasion, you are working for gear, coins and cosmetic items which can be transferred to the base game unlike World Tour which is pretty much all gear for your created character to use in that mode only.
I never played SF6, but I heard the world tour helps new players learn basics of combat and some characters.
@@mrstudent9125it absolutely does, to each their own but the fact that you can obtain gear/skins from those mode is the only redeeming quality. SF6’s worked tour acted as a tutorial for new players, had 2 large hub worlds to explode littered with SF easter eggs and references, and you got to interact with classic SF characters in ways you never have before. And it had a narrative story underneath all of it, it wasn’t a great one it wasn’t super deep but it was there. Invasion Mode feels like World of Light from Smash Ultimate and that shit was a chore.
World Tour Mode is a complete vibe! Nice Jazzy music, freeroaming and exploring the city's, and just extremely fun.

I really don't mind grind to some extent. And I guess it's nice that there's a single player mode in a pvp game?
But honestly I just find it boring, even annoying to play. I don't care about all these additional items, augments, talismans, whatever they are. I just wanna fight. I don't mind minigames, i don't mind the dodging, i don't mind test your might, hell i don't mind just fighting an actual cpu, i don't mind if they're very hard cpus but these additonal effects happening mid game like super armor or other shit like random attacks appearing on screen are just annoying.
Also on the point of learing or getting used ot characters in the mode, what makes it even worse is you can't even learn them against a "regular" opponent because of all the modifiers & super armor & whatever other bullshit. Sure the CPU isn't the "realest" practice method but atleast it's in a realistic game and you can practice your combos properly without bs.
I don't know if there is a method to earn the invasion skins outside of this mode but I doubt there is, but honestly I would rather have players be able to earn all the rewards from the invasion mode through regular matches, online, offline, ranked, towers and try to make the new game mode FUN so players WANT to do it. So players who like playing alone vs a cpu can get enjoyment & fun out of the game and the players who like playing vs real players can stil learn the rewards by doing so.
I had the same issue with the towers in MK11 and now they pretty much reskinned them but they're just as annoying & boring to play.
Also the worst part about all of this is that the krypt was honestly kinda fun in MK11 and instead they remove the Krypt and put in a reskinned version of the towers of time. I'd rather have MK11's Krypt back but have it be updated with new areas to explore & chests to loot.

I do not understand how it's this bad. This literally happened last time with Towers of Time. Everyone hated that trash and then they do this? It really killed my interest in the game. I should have known after MK11 but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but this is just pure garbage.

Krypt was so much better. I was so hyped to see the krypt in this game and konquest but we get this repetitive BS. The maps look nice in invasions but overall the mode is so boring.

I have already hit lvl 100 from playing invasion mode, you get way too much xp for the amout of time a fight takes. Especialy when you put all points into attack.

No the problem is this mode was advertised as a mix of the Krypt and Towers of Time from previous games it’s absolutely nothing of the sort. It’s just an annoying bored game like progression system placed over an endless boring chain of fights against armored enemies with random modifiers which most of the time don’t even matter because the fights are easy anyway.

The modifiers are gross, some os them literally take all the fun of fighting games away (like the ones where can't let you do combos for example)
Some fights literally are SOOOO easy, but take a LOT of time because of the ridiculous amount of health the enemy have, not counting the armor too

This is nothing like a survivor tower, You don’t need to do all 7 islands, 2 of them are for practice and a towers of time type thing. You didn’t have to grind it all out so fast, maybe it’d be less repetitive, and how is your argument for not being able to use invasions as a practice mode just not being able to pin moves. And yes I finished ALL of invasions

@@mukmuk437 You do need to do 7 of them, Johnny's Mansion isn't on the map but it is a level and you have to beat it. There is no arguing that it is an extremely repetitive mode and just because you like it doesn't change that. There's a lot of problems with this mode and I made this video with the genuine desire to try to find ways it can be improved.
Combat modifiers are bullshit and super cringe. I have zero problems with grinding. I grew up on Final Fantasy and Monster Hunter for fuck's sake. But I'll be damned if I play the chaotic MESS past season one. I got the stupid skin for scorpion cuz he's my main, but unless the next skin makes me bust while I wear it, I'm not gonna care.
