I like his haphazard approach to photography. He just points and shoots. It doesn’t always work, but there’s some splendid images here. He was very much of his time. Even the most bland can have meaning.

Wonderful! This is exactly what I want: Just photographs sans commentary. Superb.
    Also, Eggleston is incredible.

This is wonderful. It makes me feel much better about many of my own photos.
I often find myself making what most would consider fairly mundane pictures.
But I saw something I liked in some way, so photographed it; not everything has
    to be a show-stopper.

Can’t believe the hate in some of the comments. Although there were great colour photographers before Eggleston, such as Haas, his photography had a similar impact to that of Hendrix or Dylan with popular music. Try shooting “democratically” like Eggleston. It’s harder than you think. As .Cartier Bresson was to black and white photography, Eggleston is to colour. He is a true genius.

The reason I love this channel is the music. The photos speak for themselves. But the music brings me back. This almost makes me feel like I’m at the bemelmans drinking a giblet.

a lot of these shots are special,a lot are not,it happens when someone becomes famous...as regards his colour shots, there are so many that include the combination of red and white,it can't be a coincidence...there are other colour shots that are based on colour...and maybe colour only

Tri-x 400 e Kodakchrome, hanno permesso a grandi della Fotografia di raccontare la seconda parte del '900, con opere meravigliosa che entrano di diritto nella storia dell'arte.

From his photos I get a feeling of societal decline, or maybe the end of an era before a new one begins, which I guess makes sense considering most if not all of these photos were shot in the south.

I know I'm missing the point, some subtle nuance of photographic artistry, but every time I see Egglestone's work all I see are hastily grabbed snapshots the likes of which a 12 year old could have produced with a plastic disposable camera bought from a petrol station. That said, I don't think all his photographs are bad, but the good ones appear to by accident rather than intent. One notable exception though is the Ford Torino bill board with the similar car parked underneath (16.53).

Isn’t that beautiful though? As adults we definitely see the world in a much different light than children. The innocence and carefree are much more present in children than in adults, and if adults can create art or capture something that feels like it was gained with the mobility or perspective of a child, I think that’s quite wonderful.

Not sure about this, I expected more from a supposed great. More like “I’ve got a camera and some film, let’s shoot!” Nothing particularly amazing to write home about. Surprised.

Tematy zdjęć jak tematy tematy zdjęć i mniejsza o nie, ale niezbyt głębokie. Reszta już tylko słabiej. Liche kompozycje. Ogólnie niechlujnie. Tak to widzę. Największa wartość to tutaj dorobek autora.

I get his preoccupation with colour above all and occasional juxtaposition of pattern, but boy is this a tedious 27 minutes. Without John Szarkowski to write a lengthy piece to introduce his snapshots in _William Eggleston's Guide,_ I doubt Eggleston would have been so "revered" among the fashionably artistic or so highly rated as an artist. I once saw an exhibition of another photographer's work next door to a show of Eggleston's er, work and hadn't time to look around Eggleston's as well. Time well saved from pointless tedium.
