my only issue with this game is that there don't seem to be "builds" like in a normal roguelike. there isn't a ton of synergy between different buttons, it seems like you just want to take as much variety as you can to have the most options. Feels like it makes the strategy of every run pretty much the same, but I haven't played it so can't say for sure
Certainly needs something like jokers from Balatro or relics from Slay the Spire. Would be cool if, for example, one relic could make Fibonacci numbers free in the shop, or another makes the first number inputted each round squared. Also, there should be an inventory limit where you can only have up to ~15 total numbers/operators/functions at once to force the player to choose what they deem most useful.
I got an idea: instead of having just one Need number, there could be a choice of multiple Need numbers, each leading to a certain "environment" (once completed) whose shop only sells certain kinds of buttons and the proceeding Need challenge requiring certain process/math functions to complete.
As someone who does a lot of low level programming, modulo is obscenely underrated as an operator. And if you're doing division already, it's literally free since the modulo comes with the division. You can do a lot more with MOD than you would think.
Love the real civil engineer reference the editor slipped in with the engineering calculator. Tyler does a great job, his editor brings it up to a whole extra level.
i love funky indie roguelikes and this seemed fun so i bought this to check it out and omigod it's hard, tyler is jsut whizzing through the math in his head way faster than i realized
At 4:44 I was expecting the game to stop you from buying newer buttons, since the calculator was "full". I'm glad it just expanded, but it would be interesting to see the game limit how many new buttons you can add, as a challenge.
8:38 what a missed opportunity to cut off the 2 and take the square root of 81 to end up with 9. I thought for sure you’d grab that after taking the fancy move before it.
Yes, finally an excellent puzzle player tackling this game! I've watched a few videos from some of my favorite creators, but they really fumbled their way through this without getting it. I'm glad to see your take on it!
There are a couple of special cases where dividing by zero is allowed, like in graph-related calculus, but that is because the special cases have outside fators that force it to be a single sensible and defined result (for graph-related calculus, dividing 0 by 0 is allowed in specific situations when working with the numbers that represent the rate of change of a graph, because converting them to represting the value of the graph itself instead of actually doing the division causes you to (usually) no longer be dividing by zero).
I was so surprised to see Tyler not know what modulo was. He seems like a math and/or comp-sci enthusiast to a small degree, and modulo is used surprisingly often in comp-sci
Man I honestly really miss your Peglin series. I really hope you eventually find the time to make a few more videos on it since they’ve come out with some really cool new updates (they also made the leaf a bit better) They also added a secret relic that’s actually called aliensrock with the same effect. It’s your channel picture and you can get it by winning a run with Alien’s Rock
I’m so glad Tyler’s viewers are sophisticated so we don’t have comments from 5 year olds like “HE’S PLAYING WITH A CALC, BTW CALC IS SHORT FOR CALCULATOR”

This game was clearly created with a love for programming in mind :)
13:00 you should keep in mind that you can use smaller divisors to get the same remainder as well

He's using it like subtraction and calling it op
@@danielyuan9862 Well, division *is* just repeated subtraction after all

Also Tyler: using it as second subtract button

I thought I had seen it all but I was wrong for the first time ever I didn't see all of the roguelikes
8:57 using the scissors would make the target nine, then square rooting 81 would have got it using 2 uncommon moves in 1 turn
The case of the golden idol dropped a new dlc to the first one and a new game. It would be awesome to see you play it. I enjoyed your gameplay!
at 8:34, you could have cut the 2 off the goal to get 9, then divide by nine. at least, i think thats how cut works
Tyler plays calculator
Hey! Just for future reference, "a mod b" stands for "a MODULO b", not modular. It's called modular arithmetic, but we say "a modulo b" for "a mod b"
Literally a perfect game for tyler to flex his math skills
8:42 should've tried cut and square root, though I dunno if first digit is leftmost or rightmost
The developer totally just liked doing this in math class, and wanted to make that a real game.
I would like to see more of this neat roguelike
missed opportunity "The square root of sixty-nine is eight somethin', right?

Please do more of these. Please
I like the RCE image cameo at the end...
every time tyler pronounced modulo as module i cried a little. Fantastic game nonetheless
For you Gumball fans out there:
Turns out Richard Watterson was ahead of his time. He played the calculator roguelike before it even existed.
When I saw the stylised X characters on the calculator buttons, I initially saw Aleph characters. That would be a very confusing game with those.
this is why i subscribed
I have never thought to use modulo like this
8:40 Cut and square root for 1 turn efficient (no common buttons) solve
Jeez, next you're gonna tell me that there's a CLAW MACHINE roguelike game!!
Looks fun! please play more of it :)
Is no one gonna talk about the real civil engineer picture popping up from da engineer calculator
There's also Pro Office Calculator that was pretty neat.
My TH-cam froze when the black hole opened up and I thought it was a bit so I sat looking at it for quite a long time.
I love how he says that modulo is OP but he literally uses it as subtract lmao

Divide yourself by zero. That’s a really good insult.

Great video 👍
What happens if you make it a decimal with division for example
A 'see what this button does on a 1/5/7...' would be cool

another great day of listening to tyler say numbers
The boss battle at 8:20 could have been won with cut and then square route
Using modulus as fancy subtraction. 😂
I can't wait for the TI-84 update for this game
8:40 should of cut the target number to 9 then square rooted
The order if the numberkeys disturbs me.
Hey man I wrote on the last vid too . Play peglin man !! Please mate it was an amazing series
I feel like this game should be harder, like the final boss should have a number in the thousands
