There are multiple floors in tower and yes to reach from one from to above floor, everyone has to take tests to climb. Like here to reach 21st floor you have to take 20th floor test which is seem to be the hardest one yet. So the old cast if they are in higher floor, that means they already passed these tests, if they are in 23th floor they already pass 21 tests starting from floor 2 in season 1. Also each tests are composed of multiple tests. So rn they only pass the first part of 20th floor test.
The princesses trading thing is not that important. Only info to info trading. But noted that pinked haired princesses is one of the best light bearer as she can control multiple lighthouses and can see a lot of places at the same time.
Last that new MC name ja wangnan is i am prince if you read backwards in Korean. That why his Japanese name also means prince.
