There are many versions of Arirang based on region.
IU sang the Jindo version, which is the version widely known as the "primary" or "original" Arirang in Korea.
So Hyang sang the "Alone" version, which is more nonconventional.
They are different songs sang in different styles. Stop comparing.

IU : original, sweet, simple, effortless, beautiful version
BTS : powerfull, modern version
Sohyang : orchestra, elegant version
they are in different version
And I notice that they all have different lyrics, are they singing the same song? Or did they change or add the lyrics in their own ver cuz they sung the same lyrics in some parts but the other parts are diff?

I can't stand when people compare two totally different singers and styles. So Hyang is an incredible singer as well as IU.
Okay so to the many people talking about IU and So Hyang, this is a completely different version of Arirang. So Hyang sang 'Arirang Alone' , and IU is singing a different version which is also 'Arirang'. If you pay close attention to the lyrics, they aren't the same ones So Hyang sang :)

sohyang's was definetely amazing, i got chills. but iu's sounds so elegant and soft, like national anthem worthy. they both are amazing
I understand comparing IU and so hyang if IU was trying to do high notes but she was just singing it in the soft heartwarming IU way. I had the impulse to compare too but this is too different. I still prefer So Hyangs because that high note blew me away but I find IUs great too. Except that her mic was broken. That kinda ruined it...
Actually you can't really compare it since they are singing a diff song. Sohyang is singing Arirang Alone and IU is singing Arirang Milyang the original folk song.

I love both Sohyang and IU's voice! Sohyang has a powerful voice and IU has such a soft voice! Both versions are really good😄
Comparing between IU, Sohyang, and BTS? You can’t compare them when they made completely different versions of the song. Compare them when they sing a similar or the same version because they al have their own style and are amazing at it

We can both agree that IU and Sohyang are both amazing singers with an ambitious singing ability but we can't agree on who's version is better since it's all up to your preference of a more powerful or soft and delicate.

I get that I. U have her own style and it' s amazing that she sang this in her style. Even tho i was quite shocked about the difference i have to admit that she (i.u) have done a great job and i apologize for my immature comment 🙏

both have different styles, both are singing in different environment (she's in competition program), and iu and so hyang are both well off. if you have ears, you will notice they are singing different type of arirang and they are singing with different tone purpose.

Really miss my seonsaengnim... anyway, this arirang song quite different with arirang alone/hollo arirang that Sohyang sang.
