There once was a South Korean guy in the NBA. His name is Ha Seung-Jin. He played for the Portland Trail Blazers from 2004-2006. He retired from basketball in 2019 after playing for the South Korean team Jeonju KCC Egis.
There was also almost a North Korean player in the NBA named Ri Myung-hun. In 1998, he tried to get drafted by the NBA, but was not allowed to by the US State Department because it would violate the act called the Trading with the Enemy Act, because his contract would have been repatriated to North Korea in wheat. He said this to a news reporter "The NBA agreed for me to play, so did the U.S. Commerce Department…But the State Department waited six months, and then said no. They wanted to use me for political purposes. So I just gave up.

There is another South Korean player who is picking up interest over here in America who may become an NBA player named Lee Hyun-Jung. He plays small forward for Davidson and is a phenomenal shooter and has good height for his position at 6'7 (200 centimeters).

Actually in Korean a "goal" is still used to describe a point or bucket even in basketball haha. Sounds weird but it became part of the lingo.

For instance most young people in the UK 🇬🇧 have probably heard the name but have probably never watched him play or know necessarily what he looks like. Basketball is a small sport in most countries

They talk about how great the players are but unless you play basketball and are a hard core fan you really can’t comprehend what’s going on. As a basketball fan though I’m glad they enjoyed watching the clips. I want to see how they react to players like Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, kyrie Irving. Half the vid was just dunking and while it is cool, they should see the aspects of the game that require more skill than jumping so that they can get a deeper understanding of the game :)
