little tip, raw fish is actually safe to eat and gives more saturation than cooked!

this information has brought me much pain TT I've only been playing for two weeks, and I like to use fish as a way to supplement my hunger (paired with berries) when I go exploring
The fact that I coulda just chowed down instead of making a fire pit is.. ahhhhhh

Another tip I learned is that if you use a hoe on a fully grown wild crop, you can receive a full harvest as if you planted it yourself. You just need to reach the block itself by looking at the edge to reach it. Check out the short by Vintage Story player Kurrazah.

If you find fruit trees, chop them down (leave a stump so they regrow, and mark it) and plant the cuttings near your home. They're slow to grow, but long-term food is useful.

You can treat raw hides with fat and they will cure to pelts after a time. Those can be used for some clothing items, to make an interim backpack, or even as a decor item.

I'm loving this series, please continue to play more VS! I was waiting for 1.20 before sinking my teeth into the game but this series is making me want to do it now.

You should really find and mark that trader you found before on the map. Without spoiling too much, treasure hunter NPC's are quite important towards the end game
You can also remove old death marker waypoints if you no longer want them😉

Shoot I’ll have to find him. Slight spoiler alert, but I just finished filming episode 3 yesterday, and for the life of me can’t find that trader 😂 I’ll keep looking I guess

Disregard if you're not looking for tips but - if you unequip your torch it won't extinguish in water, just leave it in your inventory during the day, or keep it on your bar but don't use it until its dark. C: Will save you the frustration of always accidentally extinguishing it. Otherwise, wonderful video!

@@azungu1190you can also make a fat lamp from a lump of fat and a ceramic bowl and carry it in your offhand slot. This will no go out underwater. I believe a green gear can also provide a bit of light in a pinch.

Some recipes besides leather are Hunters Backpack (5 slots), winter coat, hat and leggings, Rawhide Leather (shirt, leggings, boots), and mantle), most of these require a PELT, which is a piece of fat and rawhide, put your fat into the grid and and see how many process.
To keep rawhide from spoiling, keep them in a vessel. Then dig a hole three deep and load your food and rawhide into it. Leave an air space cover with dirt, rock or hay bail to cover your make shift cellar. You can lay your soon-to-pelts on the ground to cure. Cute carpets.

You don't have to aim at water to start sifting, you just have to be standing in it, so you don't have to constantly turn around

Don't eat animal fat. It's more useful to cure hides with it. Then, you'll have pelts which can be used to craft hunter backpacks, an upgrade to your reed baskets. You can then use a knife on your reed baskets to get some of your cattails back.

At 1:00 there is a deer in the pond waiting for you to harvest it. Finders keepers. Hope for rawhide and fat at least. They drop red meat too!

You can also oil hides with fat, handy before you start tanning. 👍🏻

  • @AnotherJRB
    @AnotherJRB หลายเดือนก่อน +1

You seem to have picked a pretty good location, there seems to be a lot of good stuff nearby. :D
Fat is important for crafting (in particular, you need it to make hides into pelts for various uses, such as winter clothes), so I would avoid eating it unless it's a dire emergency. You can also combine fat with a bowl (once you have some) to make an oil lamp, which is an early-game permanent and waterproof light source.

Well, to be fair, you *did* get your faced ripped off by a wolf in the first episode.
It was in the *second* encounter with that *same wolf* that you prevailed after only *almost* getting your faced ripped off. 😁
You got *dead lucky* dodging that bear. 😬
