- The last video in Battambang. It is one of those I will never forget. Via this video, I hope I’m able to show you a few things to do in Battambang. We went to do the bamboo ride, the Killing Caves, and the Bat Cave in Battambang.
The best man to hire for a half-day/full-day tour is my new friend Mr Sam. I am considered a tuff, strong man, or was in my younger days. I have now retired in Cambodia. I still remember my first and only visit to one of The Killing Fields. My reaction was the same as yours. I will never return to any sort of Killing Fields ever again. It affected me badly. But I will always remember and never forget what happened in this beautiful country to such amazing people who suffered so badly. Though that terible time in her past history, from that regime. ❤
A Khmer in in USA. This’s the 1st I heard Khmer man speak good English. Good for him, he should have better job and live better life.

During the king Shihanuk regime Cambodia was quite develop and ahead of other southeast Asia countries. We have our own factory like producing Car, wheel, rubber, and export to other countries. But unfortunately for this poor country we lost everything when the Khmer rouge come. More than 3 years everything gone including the knowledge people. That's why we have to start recover again step by step.
It is so tragic what happened and I hope history will never repeat anymore ❤️ Cambodia is great
@@Chai_TravelI also want to recommend you go to visit a place called Nesat Village. It just saw on TH-cam. There is the community for foreigners to live and there is a blue lagoon as well. In cast you back in Cambodia again, you should try. ✌️

Understood ! Khmers did live so much in harmony and prosperious time. My parent recall the golden era we did live a successful , frugal business in Pailin. My parent were also target by Pol Pot , fortunately we fled on so many directions. We have to burn our archives .
I disagreed. Cambodia has been one of the poorest countries in the world for hundreds of years until these days. You can check this from international institutions like World Bank, IMF, UN, etc. It was under Thailand, Vietnam and France's control for more than 500 years.

Thanks Champ, I've been to Cambodia but only to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap and did the Killing fields tour in the capital but you forget that this terrible and sad event happened everywhere in the Country. I remember being there and having a conversation with a young female backpacker from the USA who was complaining about the infrastructure and stuff and said to her "For what these people have gone thru and endured in the last century from French rule, bombing by the US during the Vietnam war and then Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge, I think they are slowly re-building and are amazing people."

There is definitely a palpable heaviness in the air in Cambodia, in comparison to Thailand, for example. That generation is still alive, the ones lucky enough to survive. The prison museum in PP is quite an experience but an emotional experience and difficult to take in.

I know just how overwhelmed you were, Chai, while hearing about the atrocities at the Killing Caves. I visited the killing fields and heard and saw similar accounts of the horrors. I cried like a baby for those poor people who were treated so wretchedly and lost their lives at that time. Even now, again, my heart is heavy as I see your experience. Lost many family members too. My uncles and Grand dad were in the Police. Never knew my dad, and I only learnt recently I used to have an older sister who died at a young age. My mom was a teen but somehow survived on her own long enough to flee the country. Many families were torn apart. I need to go back one day, and learn more about where I'm from. My mother lost her parents and 9 siblings during the war. And I lost my father. All were killed by Khmer Rouge. My uncle was a Captain in the Royal Air Force and was married to the princess of Cambodia. They both disappeared in 1976.

Cambodia strived for about 15 years after the independence before the country felt to the Khmer Rough.

How the Khmer Rouge build the dams there, thousand of people have lost their lives because of hunger and hard work there… the reason I want you to made this video because I see no foreigners is making any video or hear about this place.

Hello, you should check what was missing with the history, there was something called the Khmer Republic that took over in the 70 that fought against the communists before the fall of phnom penh in 1975, when they killed everyone who was educated and at random. I don’t understand why Mr. Sam did not mention this

Mr Sam did talk about when the King was deposed by a general called Lon Nol in 1970s. He just didn't detail much further.

I can explain it to you! At that time, the Soviet Union and China were confronting each other. China wanted Vietnam to choose either China or the Soviet Union. Vietnam of course wanted relations with both. Vietnam signed a cooperation document (alliance) with the Soviet Union. The incident made China angry and at the same time afraid of Vietnam's influence on Cambodia. Since then, China has provided military aid to the Khermer Rouge to attack Vietnam's southern border. That is why Vietnam attacked the Khmer Rouge, and at the same time China attacked northern Vietnam to support the Khermer Rouge. Of course, China did not achieve its goals and suffered great casualties in northern Vietnam .The Khmer Rouge was destroyed by Vietnam and the Cambodian people escaped genocide ! America and Europe say Vietnam invaded Cambodia and supported the Khmer Rouge at the United Nations! Vietnam was economically embargoed by the US and its allies until 1995! That's why the world owes Vietnam an apology!
