  • I’m able to show you around the island of Koh Rong in the south of Cambodia. After a few days on the island, I found out that Koh Rong is one of the, if not THE most beautiful island in South East Asia. I’m talking about the whitest beaches and the island vibes. It is just one of a kind. Let me take you on a full tour of the island. After seeing this video you have a pretty good idea of what the island has to offer.
    My favorite part of the island is the south coast as it’s more lively, and the West coast as it has the whitest beaches.

    My first time traveling there was in 1998. I was on the way to Phnom Penh via Sihanoukville from Trat/Hat Lek. The water was bathtub clear, the sand was white and the foliage was deep green. There was little more than a fishing village at the time.

    Chai, you are really nailing this walk about activity man., intermingled with the odd chat with locals and tourists alike and a bit of drone activity. This video is unrushed too and a very comfortable watch over 34 minutes. Throw in plenty of relevant information via sub titles which is a great idea and overall I guess not too much editing involved. I absolutely loved this one. Good on you champ. Fantastic promotion for the island. Wayne is currently in KL maybe he watches this and makes a beeline for Cambodia 🍻🤩

    Can see some issues with it becoming a fully blown tourist place in a short period of time hence why the airport is progressing slowly and such. Getting there requires some effort (as you probably know). Then if the airport opened it would probably be domestic flights coming in initially (I remember when they opened the airport in Koh Samui Thailand over 20 years ago and it was the same thing). There are alot of competing places like it, which are a bit more developed and more interesting for high paying international tourists (Phu Quoc in Vietnam comes to mind). So I suspect the money to pay for the airport will come along as the island develops and they can see some return on the money in a shorter period of time. But yes, beautiful beaches and a great vibe.

    We went there with our 2 little toddlers 6 years ago. It was absolutely breathtaking!! We went in the water for a good 150 yards out to sea and my toddlers can still stand up to their waist areas. The water temperature was heavenly like bath water…we were so spoiled, compared to California ocean temperatures and Lake Tahoe water temperatures 🥶. Good to know it still looks about the same. We plan to return soon for another week stay like last time. Beautiful hidden paradise!! ❤❤❤

      I would recommend another island called Koh Rong Somlem, if you like being in the peaceful and quiet place there are two beaches there: the first one is Sunset beach and another is Lazy beach. I was staying at KAMAKU Bungalows. The sunset view is amazing.

    how long do you recommend doing koh rong? tbh i'm actually half cambodian lol but i've never been to an island, same with my mum. we are already going to kampot, so we can easily get to kep beach as well which is nearby. not sure if i should just go to rabbit island during the day. my main goal is actually to see bioluminescent sea really, but this reminds me of sihanoukville back when i was little (without all the developments and the construction sites)
    we're all adults now though so is it appropriate for me and my parents? i dont think they'd be pleased with young travellers lmao

    • @Chai_Travel
      @Chai_Travel  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Haha yeah I’m sure your parents will love it too. I’d stay 3nights if you’re able to. 2 nights on the “busy” part in the south. And 1 nights east of west cost (west is more white but more expensive). I hope it helps 🙏

    There are two variations, Luk Lac which is the Cambodian version and Bo Luc Lak, a Vietnamese version. In Vietnamese Bo means beef and luc lac means shaking, it is cooked in a wok so this is also known as shaking beef.

    • @tinan888
      @tinan888 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      In Cambodia, shaking beef is known as lok lak or loc lac (Khmer: ឡុកឡាក់) and often considered a national dish even though the dish originated in Vietnam.The original lok lak uses high-quality steak cut into cubes and pan-seared in French butter which stems from Indochina's French colonial past, while a simpler version influenced by Chinese culinary techniques uses cheap cuts of beef and Chinese oyster sauce.

    • @tinan888
      @tinan888 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Shaking beef or bo luc lac (Vietnamese: bò lúc lắc, French: bœuf lôc lac) is a Vietnamese dish that consists of beef sauteed with cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, pepper, and soy sauce. The beef is cut into small cubes the size of playing dice (hột lúc lắc) before being sauteed. Beef used to be a luxury ingredient; the dish was therefore mostly served at formal events, such as wedding banquets and anniversaries,although now it has become a common food. Before French colonization, cows were only used for manual labour and were working animals.
