Did the spark plugs on my FZ6 today (removed tank/airbox). With a ton of help from your videos. Thanks again sir! all the work I've done so far on my bike was with your help. Sorry I didnt sub sooner didnt even realize it.
Glad to help!
how many miles were your bikes at when you did this. Im going to be getting in there for a throttle body and debating in doing plugs while I am in ther 9k miles on bike@@Calvinm
Great job Calvin. I just came across your channel yesterday. I have a Tracer 900GT. Thanks for these great videos. You provide great detail and instruction and I like how you are very methodical and provide lots of tips. Thanks for all the effort you put into making this available to me and making it easier for me to do my maintenance. Much appreciated. Happy riding From ON CA
Thanks for the kind comment. Glad you enjoy my style of getting the information across. Happy riding! 👍
Hi Calvin, I just bought a FZ6-N 2006. I was looking up some things and found your channel. Great stuff, great info and nice bike's. Greetings from the Netherlands. (and of course I subbed ;))
Awesome, thank you! 👍🏍️
Thank you!!!!
Good job. Thx.
Thanks for posting. Was looking for reference material before I attempt a spark plug change on my 2019 Niken GT. Similar engine, should be similar approach. We’ll see how bad it is to remove the ignition coil packs from the spark plug cylinders.
Good video cheers
Hello, I just bought a 2015 FJ09. I am writing to you from Venezuela. I wanted to know what scanner you recommend me to be able to make the adjustments for the bike. Thank you very much
Great video. Do you remeber how long time the changing take? From removing all the fairings to reassembly everything.
It would take about 3-4 hours the first time if I wasn't filming.
You can completely eliminate the AIS and get it out of the way with an ECU flash. I haven't done it yet, but I am going to when I get into it this winter to change the plugs. It's all currently on there but has been disabled I just need to buy the block off plates.
Ya I’ve seen people so that mod. I’ve read it makes it easier to tune the bike because a wideband O2 sensor can accurately read the air fuel ratio when they’re blocked. Hope your install goes smoothly!
Bro you sold the fz6??? I would have bought it, but I'm in California 😂 I would love to had yours and just kept mine for parts but anyhow. Love your videos keep up the good work God bless😊
I did sell the FZ6… too bad we aren’t in the same country! Thanks for the kind comment 😁
Thanks for the vid!
how much time did it cost You?
If I wasn’t filming this job would take 2-3 hours.
I used a pencil magnet to lower the spark plug down.
That would work well!
5:42 I see a bloody paper towel. How did you cut yourself? so I don't do the same when I change my plugs this winter.
Wow keen eyes you have. I busted my knuckle while pulling out one of the coil packs. Didn’t notice it till it was already cut. I’m sure you’ll be fine.
Hi, does it make sense to replace spark plugs on 2014 FJ-09 with only 6,000 miles on it? Never replaced, but also no issues. I replacred clutch cable using your videos revently, but for spark plugs it seems to be even more work and more hoses abd wires to disconnect. It scares me.
If it ain’t broke… I wouldn’t bother. Things like the updated clutch cable can help but spark plugs last. There is no reason to replace them until necessary.
@@Calvinm thanks!
👏👍🇵🇱Thnx
Is there no way to get through the radiator?
You probably could, I haven’t tried though. I followed the process laid out in the Yamaha service manual. It might seem like a lot but you would have to take off the same plastics to get to the radiator.
I’m sure there’s a video of a mt-09 being done through the rad, but he was replacing the water as well
I hesitate to just Drop the plug into the hole. I’m afraid it will hit, and close the gap
If you have a quality spark plug socket you can use that to hold onto the plug as you lower it in. With that said I’ve never had the gap close down from lightly dropping it into the hole. Doesn’t hurt to be cautious though 👍
I would only buy spark plug socket that come with magnet attach
There are 3 spark plugs to be changed on this engine, isn’t it?
Yes
I really wish I knew why my FJ09 was so unhappy at about 3500RPM. There's a mechanical... something... that just gives me the heebie jeebies. It's not smooth at all. Is yours sewing-machine smooth?
That’s odd. I don’t notice any weird vibrations around 3500rpm. Mine feels smooth through that range
