great find, Tom. question..once you clip off the two opposing feet, can you get it right down on the bottom, past your bolts? thinking it would be good for putting two of them in, to allow a little more convection airflow on the bottom layer of food. would also be good for playing around with making jerky...
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ i ordered a couple of those racks. will see if the wife will let me drill holes in the air fryer basket to put in the bolts to rest the upper rack on :-D
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ great! the wife thinks i'm crazy. so many home projects that i need to be doing, and wasting time MacGuyvering the air fryer. :D
WHY IN THE WORLD DON'T THEY MAKE THIS AS AN ACCESSORY!???! We all need it and Tom is going through this much trouble to MAKE one! It's amazing that the companies don't just make one for the air fryer! I bought the Phillips rack from amazon. The measurements in the description were the right size for my Emeril AF but very disappointed when I received it and it was a fraction of an inch too small. I can't find anything else even close. I'm really surprised that this isn't something that they make available to use with the fryers. :(
Nice video! Question for you...I just purchased this and made a couple of meals. The coating in the middle of the outer basket started to peel. Do you have the same issue?
Rika G Thanks for Watching! I have one little area in the raised area in the direct center of the outer basket about a 1/4" in diameter. I'm not concerned by it yet.
Thank you for the quick reply! We read one review stating that this company told them not to use it if it's peeling. Sounds scary ha? I enjoy your video!! Please keep up your good work!
Thanks for watching Scott, The length will be determined by the type of grate you find for the inside. Make sure to use Stainless steel bolts. Thanks again
People have been cooking on expanded metal for years. As long as it's not coated (galvanized, etc.) It's fine. It has to be pre-season/preped, etc. by burning off any residue (in a barbecue, etc.) and hit with some fat (oil, lard, etc.) and you're good to go.
Thumbs down this remark. You're putting too broad of a statement out there and leading people on a wild goose chase. You should have put a few sample links. Not just any 6 or 8'' rack would fit. Please be more respectful of people's time.
Thanks Tom for letting us know about your finds. I still like your modification ideas!!
Rick Short Thanks Rick!
The shelf is a Paderno World Cuisine 47098-22 Cake Cooling Tray
Thank you

Hiya Tom! What size/length bolts did you use for the shelf supports?
@@robthomas7392 3/16 x 1- 1/2". If they are too long just clip them off

Use a magnet to see if your expanded metal is stainless steel or not.
Avoid galvanized zinc coating is all.
Great video.

Wasn't aware of that,
Copper doesn't peel
Referring to the Black outer basket, its not copper and the inner basket has a coating on it not sure what it is
Which is better, the Power Air Fryer or Cosori?
Thanks for Watching! The Cosori has more room, gets hotter and has a better warranty
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ Many thanks, Tom, will get a Cosori.
Who sells replacement parts for the Power Air Fryer XL?
Luis Castro Luis, I'm not sure they sell replacement parts, I've never seen them

Tom, what length are those bolts? I want to modify mine this way. Thanks!

Tom Horsman I bought the same rack you listed in comments, so just trying to match your bolts too. I'm thinking 1 inch?
I'll measure them when I get home tonight Scott
Don't worry about it. I ended up getting 1" bolts. I'll see how that works Friday when the rack arrives. Thanks!
@ scott wiggin did the 1 inch bolt work, thinking of doing this as well.
Tom, you're a busy man. ;-)
Mike Newhouse Thanks Mike!
I found it on Amazon but they only 2 sizes.8.6 in or 7.65 do either fit?
Poconos Hidden Jewel Thanks for Watching! Measure your basket and you"ll know what will fit. I'm not sure which power fryer you have
I need to buy the pan of my XL Power Air Fryer. Who knows where I can buy it?
Luis Castro Not sure, don't they sell it

What size air fryer do you show in this video?
Sarah G Thanks Sarah! 5.3 quart
I suppose it’s better to change your entire air fryer into a De‘Longhi MultiFry 1396 with included grill.
