I Remember First Time i Heard this Song played in acoustic by him alone on TH-cam,like 5 years ago or so. Many things have changed from then, other things remained the same. Surely this man hasn't Lost his pure raw emotion while singing
I went down to the river Flowing out onto the sea On my way to the ocean Let the spirit swallow me I got low down in the water I let the current guide my bones I got nine kinds of trouble I'm just trying to find my way home Over twenty some years of living And a thousand wasted days I have loved a lot of women Many times I've gone wrong ways And I came down to the water For a dip to cleanse my soul They keep telling me that I'm just a babe But baby why do I feel so old? This is the verge of a breakthrough It's a fine line that cannot be bent And I felt like a river run dry But I don't know where all of the rainwater went And I believe we were all dead or dying But I see different in the blue light There is no such thing as a dawn or a dusk It's daylight until it is night You gotta fight through the dimming You gotta run into the winds You gotta rage against the dying of the light Live for the moment that's left You gotta fight against the dimming You gotta run into the winds You gotta rage against the dying of the light Live for the moment that's left 'Cause there is no such thing as a dying man We are alive 'til the moment we're dead And a drowning man is just a living man Who hasn't run out of his last bit of breath I went down to the river Flowing out onto the sea On my way to the ocean Let the spirit swallow me I got low down in the water I let the current guide my bones I got nine kinds of trouble I'm just trying to find my way home Find my way home Find my way home Find my way home
Ben you look much better since i last seen you in around 2014 on your 2011 video dude. im looking into learning the acoustic guitar and its just been hittin me hard to play southern gothic and dark gritty music with it. im talkin bout music like this, songs of pre-condemned souls before they commit the act that condemns them. inspired to make songs too man. you rock!
my only issue with this whole Ben thing is that I am a maritimer from Nova Scotia, and im only finding out about this guy this year.. shame on TH-cams algorithms
Dayumn. Just. Dayumn.
Ben Caplan has to be my favorite musician now, after I discovered his music a year ago. He's an inspiration for me to make my own music.
Congrats & welcome to the ride 🎶
I truly love this song. It touches me deeply. I appreciate this creation. Thank you.
Jesus H Christ…this man’s voice 🤯
The fact that this only has 290 views is disgusting. Such a great artist.
He has another version in a park that has a lot more. Great song and artist.

Muito bom! Porto Alegre, Brazil
I went down to the river
Flowing out onto the sea
On my way to the ocean
Let the spirit swallow me
I got low down in the water
I let the current guide my bones
I got nine kinds of trouble
I'm just trying to find my way home
Over twenty some years of living
And a thousand wasted days
I have loved a lot of women
Many times I've gone wrong ways
And I came down to the water
For a dip to cleanse my soul
They keep telling me that I'm just a babe
But baby why do I feel so old?
This is the verge of a breakthrough
It's a fine line that cannot be bent
And I felt like a river run dry
But I don't know where all of the rainwater went
And I believe we were all dead or dying
But I see different in the blue light
There is no such thing as a dawn or a dusk
It's daylight until it is night
You gotta fight through the dimming
You gotta run into the winds
You gotta rage against the dying of the light
Live for the moment that's left
You gotta fight against the dimming
You gotta run into the winds
You gotta rage against the dying of the light
Live for the moment that's left
'Cause there is no such thing as a dying man
We are alive 'til the moment we're dead
And a drowning man is just a living man
Who hasn't run out of his last bit of breath
I went down to the river
Flowing out onto the sea
On my way to the ocean
Let the spirit swallow me
I got low down in the water
I let the current guide my bones
I got nine kinds of trouble
I'm just trying to find my way home
Find my way home
Find my way home
Find my way home
And I love love love this song..

It’s Halifax, Nova Scotia. That’s where he lives, or used to live at least. Not sure if he’s still there.

What’s the band up to nowadays??
I like this version the most, something about the guitar just hits different. Sounds more... stringy? I 'unno how to explain.
A long ass fucking time ago in a town called Kickapoo

I love it however I loved it better when his voice wasn’t so well defined 😬
