    Jeepers creepers, this video was awesome. No joke, I was also amazed it finished right on the 40-min mark.

    Bought a Bauer Impact drill last year to try it out for the price. Still running great after daily use. Now have the brushless drill, ratchet wrench and side grinder. Great for the $$$

    i have both chargers as well. if i fast charge a pack then immediately put the pack on the slow charger it continues to charge. its like pouring water from a pitcher really fast into a glass vs. pouring slowly. a slow pour can fill the glass right to the brim and a fast pour can't. great video. Love all my Bauer tools!

    Never forget that more charging current, more temperature develops into the battery. The pack must dissipate such temperature somehow, and the batteries in the center of the pack heats more, and suffer, prone to damage. It is not for nothing that some battery packs and chargers use temperature sensors, just to make sue nothing bad will happen. Use only the 3A charger if you are in a hurry, use the lower current if your not, and make sure the battery and charger is not in a hot environment, ventilated at least.

    Based on your times the 75% faster claim is a bit of a stretch and probably a best case scenario under optimal conditions. By my calculations 40 min vs 65 min is 60% faster charging. However in real world waiting an extra 25 minutes for a battery to charge when you need it is an eternity! Which is why I took the “rapid” charger back and got the “fast” charger. On a side note, my Dewalt battery charger that came with the drill I bought some time ago is only rated at 1.5 amps, so the 1.7 amp “rapid” charger compares favorably to the standard Dewalt charger.

      The difference of just a couple of minutes in this case can throw off the rates by a lot. I took the value of a 75% faster rate and came away with just under 38 minutes (from 66.5 minues of actual time). He got 40 minutes. That's damn close. How close do you think the initial 2 battery conditions were and their internal resistanes?

  • @thecarman3693
    @thecarman3693 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I did the math and found that it's pretty much on point. Your old charger took ~66.5 minutes. Dividing that by 1.75 yields a faster time of 38 minutes. You got 40 minutes; so I'd say that the newer charger is advertized correctly at having a 75% faster charge rate.
    If anyone wishes to see the math for this I'll post it after your request. (PS --- it's not hard.)

      @@mikerevello3828 yeah it took a lot of waiting until I swapped it to the faster charger. It was sitting on my charger for maybe 6 HOURS and it had not gotten any higher in bars. So then I tried the faster one and charged it quickly. I'm glad my comment could help you Mike!

    only thing I don't like about the light indicators is that they don't light up as GREEN when charging is complete .. they should have just made it where BOTH lights are GREEN vs. the RED light thats stops blinking .. makes no sense to me .. (I didn't read the manual)

    You should buy the double 4 amp charger as well as the 6 battery sequential charger and put the same size battery on each one that are all drained the same and then compare all 4 different chargers since Bauer has 2 more different chargers now more than those original 2 because they have 4 different Bauer 20 V chargers now but cool video thanks for making it.

    Harbor Freight Bauer Rapid Charger vs The Rapid Plus Charger - Both chargers state on the back "20v-3A" so they are the same. The misleading comparison is based on the battery size (3AH VS 5AH VS 8AH)

      I used the same 5ah battery for testing: discharged it with the Bauer inverter and a box fan on high, then used the rapid charger. It took 116 minutes to charge. Then I discharged the same battery, same way as before. Charged it again with the rapid charger plus 92 min. or about 20% faster. I will definitely do this over again, just to be sure.

    1.7 amps x 1hr equals 1.7Ah so a 1.5Ah battery should take just under an hr on the slower charger, plus equalization time. 3 amps is less than a 50% increase over 1.7 so it's optimistic to label it as 75% faster.
