    The last 3mo or so, we've supposedly been dealing with bird flu & eggs went from $10/5doz up & up & up til they hit $30/5doz and then _suddenly_ last week...they're $10.98/5doz.
    I'm freezing 15 dozen today.
    PS: It's so pleasant to listen to your soft melodic voice. All the others are recording in echoey kitchens & not using filters!

    We have backyard chickens and right now we are getting more eggs than we know what to do with, but when winter hits we hate having to buy eggs from the store! This is a fantastic tip! Thank you!

    • @TheScaredyCatGardener

      Keep in mind your backyard chicken eggs should last about 6 months just on the counter. Just Don’t wash them until you are using them

    • @TheScaredyCatGardener
      @TheScaredyCatGardener  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Keep in mind fresh eggs can last up to 6 month just on the counter as long as you DON’T wash them. You can gently wipe them off with a dry towel if they have a lot on them

    Thanks for this. I couldn't find any silicone trays, so I got just the regular cupcake pans. I was hesitating doing it, until I saw you use the paper cupcake things. I have been wanting to try this for almost 6 months now. Looks like I no longer have an excuse 🙂

    • @TheScaredyCatGardener
      @TheScaredyCatGardener  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, without the paper liner you would need to thaw some to remove them! Get those eggs preserved 😂

    I experimented with storing eggs when freezer isn't available. My favorite is slathering my STORE BOUGHT ( or fresh) eggs in MINERAL OIL, placing them back in their carton, then into the pantry. 16 months later, they were wonderful! I couldn't believe it worked.
    I did glass jarring method with FRESH eggs. Liked them fine, but couldn't get past the chemical smell. I still use them, though

    I've read via an extension agency that pre-salting the egg yolks prevents some of the clumping after freezing, i.e. allows you to fry the whole egg however you prefer them, runny, sunny O.E. or hard.

    I watched a video a couple of years ago where they were showing this same thing, except they said you had to add salt and break the yolk, or else it would get too rubbery. They even told you how much salt to add. I followed their instructions to the letter and guess what? My eggs ALL had to be thrown out! Salt was all I could taste. You way sounds SO much better and I can’t wait to try a real method! No salt, thank you very much!

    I just found your channel this evening and it's great! I am a new subscriber too.
    I never thought to freeze eggs to preserve them and thank you for showing one after it defrosted. I was curious about that.
    Question: would you advise just freezing the entire egg in it's shell?
    Thank you for making this video. I sure wish I had chickens-our HOA won't allow it. They're being pretty shortsighted in light of our food supply being systematically and deliberately destroyed.
    Do you know other ways to preserve eggs?

    • @TheScaredyCatGardener
      @TheScaredyCatGardener  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there! No do not freeze them in the shell. I’m not sure exactly what happens but I have had eggs accidentally freeze in my refrigerator in the shell and when I tried to let it thaw some and crack it it smelled so I would not do that. I do have another method of preserving eggs but I need a specific type of vacuum sealer in order to do that method and mine broke a while back. I can’t afford to get another one at the moment. But I intend to show that method as soon as I can get another one! My HOA is the same and I can’t even put up a green house with approval and only a certain type and size. We are looking for a home where we can do our own thing lol. And Welcome to The Scaredy Cat Crew. Enjoy the channel (Container Crops) for more great videos ! 👀🍿Thank you so

    I have at least 6 dozen duck eggs and more coming in every day. Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try it! When the ducks lay in the yard in a spot I do not see and thr egg freezes, I always assumed the egg was bad. Do you know why not to freeze the eggs in their original container, the shell?

Use as fresh ..for months..
