It’s a great university. I’m studying bachelor of Electrical and Electronics engineering. The uni is really good and they really focus on real world engineering stuffs

I was studying business. New step is like a pathway course to get you into a degree. I’ve heard it is decent but try and get in as a mature aged student if you can to save you the year of study that could be unnecessary
Actually i haven't...i'm have admits for masters of chemical engineering from Monash and university of Sydney and i'm finding it difficult to make a choice, that's why i'm watching your channel. You post some good stuff about unis.

Just started studying a B Nursing at UON at the new Central Coast Clinical school campus in Gosford. I believe that all the Nursing/Midwifery/Medicine programs have been moved to this new campus from Ourimbah.The facilities are phenomenal. The building is on the grounds of Gosford Hospital so you really feel like you're in the thick of it.
There’s a little footage of Ourimbah in here. It’s pretty and we’ll maintained. The only thing is that it’s quite isolated and there’s not a huge amount nearby.
Was spectacular in the 1990’s. Study during the week then a superb nightlife in town on the weekend. Had only 8,000 students back then and so had lots of space and very few rules. Parking and the gym were free. The Bar on the Hill had great music.

I'm studying a Bachelor of Arts at UoN callaghan campus. The student life is GREAT with all of the cubs and events that are organised. It's such a friendly place to be. However, this year I haven't been having such a great time studying arts. I'm not sure if it's due to Covid or because of the recent budget cuts (UoN cut an entire Arts degree!) but there is such a minimal amount of courses to choose from, particularly in English and Writing. I have no idea if they'll revive their course list down the track but for the moment I'd say be wary if you want to study humanities. In addition to that, I find that the core course for humanities could do a LOT of work. They go through the course material entirely too fast to really learn any information, and the big projects are due so close to the start of semester that you're just getting settled and barely able to get help with being pointed in the right direction. That being said, I did study Education for a semester and truly thought the education was amazing.
@@matcha241 yes it has. I’m actually taking a break from studying at the moment, but semester 1 last year was all online, and I know at least a little bit of semester 2 was.
Physio is an accredited degree. That means the National Physio body oversees the structure of degrees and they all have to meet base criteria. So the degrees will be similar. Look at things like student satisfaction and think about what location you’d prefer to live in.

I don't have a lot of experience with JD programs tbh, so I'd hesitate to make a recommendation on that. A few things I could make comments on: - Cost of living will be lower in Newcastle than in Sydney - Access to work is higher in Sydney. I'm guessing that access to legal opportunities (internships, clerkships etc) is higher in Sydney - Newcastle is smaller, so it might be easier to get "in" with the legal community there. However, there will be a greater volume of networking opportunities in Sydney. - Law at Newcastle is mostly taught in the CBD building - this is not far from the beach and the facilities are quite new. - Macquarie has built a purpose-built law space that is very recent (opened last year, from memory) On balance, if it were me and there were no other impediments, I'd probaly choose MQ. But that's just me. Newcastle is a good option.
New Space is in the city centre away from the main campus. I don’t know if medical students are there. I thought medicine was on the main campus and New Space was mostly business and law.

I am an Australian that had lived in Luxembourg for my whole life and studied in the uk for the last 2 years. I want to study primary education as I have had a passion to become a teacher for a very long time. I haven’t been to nsw or qld only vi as that is where my family is from but I what to go somewhere that is always warm and great surf and want to explore a new part of Australia! Thanks for your great information on your videos they are super helpful for someone like me and couldn’t find anything like it any where else on TH-cam! It is difficult to make a choice of where to go when you have never been there and don’t really know the area, and I can’t base it on the websites and info, that is why your vids are great they give a bit more of an insight! 👍🏻
Thanks Emma! I really appreciate the encouragement! I started this channel because the only videos on unis that I could find were published by the unis themselves. I travel to most of them for work so I figured « I can do this! » If you want somewhere that is always warm, Sunshine Coast is def your option. It’s a warm and lovely part of the country! Newcastle has incredible beaches and October through May is warm. It’s pretty close to Sydney which is great too. Both Newcastle and Sunshine Coast have airports close by so you can get to other parts of the country quite easily. Wollongong is probably the best uni overall of the three and is close to Sydney. But it’s the furthest south so is also coldest by far!

If it were me I’d choose Curtin, because it’s a great uni, has an amazing student vibe, the business faculty is great and I love Perth. Newcastle would suit you better if you’re looking to study near the beach. Newcastle isn’t huge, but it’s close to Sydney (3 hours on the train to the centre of Sydney).

If you’re an international student you’re allowed to work up to 24 hours per week, at time of writing, whilst studying plus full time during the holidays.
Hi thank you for such a great campus review. I’m from Asia and having problem deciding for my child in choosing IT course between Murdoch Perth or Newcastle Callaghan. Which Uni would you recommend? I’m also kind of worry of the safety if it’s in a big bushland campus.
Safety is not a problem in Australia. Even the big bush land campuses have good security services and things like courtesy buses after dark if your child is there late. Both these unis are interesting and similar in some ways. I think Newcastle is maybe the better uni overall, but Perth is one of my favourite student cities. There might be more opportunities for students for internships and things like that in Perth. It’s a line ball choice for me. Both are solid.
What work experience do you have? In terms of "Statement of Purpose", tell them WHY. Why Newcastle, why the degree you're choosing, why that program will help you get where you want to go etc.
If it's a bachelor degree, you won't have to show any work experience. A Masters degree might be different. Co-curricular probably isn't critical for undergraduate admission, but if you've done interesting things you should definitely include them!

hey I got admission offer for MBA global in UNC . I also have offers from Curtin and Deakin university as well . I'm just confused between UNC and Curtin fees is less in UNC plus its near Sydney which has more prospects for management jobs as compared to Perth but I like the campus of Curtin . your views sir .
Good questions. The UoN degree is excellent and there are advantages to being close to Sydney. Curtin also has a strong program but you are right that Perth is a smaller city with fewer pure management jobs outside of the mining sector (although it should be noted that Curtin has excellent linkages into the mining industry). I think the Curtin campus is definitely nicer BUT the UoN New-space is quite new with good facilities. For an MBA I would worry less about the campus than the industry connections imo

The health faculty at UoN is really good. I can’t speak specifically about diagnostic radiography, which is too niche for my knowledge, but the health fac is good.

Hi Vanessa, thanks for the message. Okay, so you’re in Sydney so would have to move to either Newcastle or the Gold Coast. Both business schools are good. Newcastle and the Gold Coast are both coastal towns - nice beaches and outdoor life. Depending on what you do, there will be more part time work on the Gold Coast. Newcastle teaches some degrees in Sydney. I don’t know if that would interest you? Griffith has a strong international studies program (eg opportunities to study overseas). It also has expertise and real strength in Asian Business and Asian culture - obviously very important in the modern global economy! Griffith’s leadership development programs are stronger than Newcastle. Both unis have good support services for international students, Griffith maybe a touch in front. I like both campuses. Newcastle is really amongst the trees and like being in the bush. Griffith Gold Coast has a great vibe and is more cosmopolitan with more eating and cafe opportunities. Hope that helps!

I like them both. Both the Gold Coast and Newcastle are beautiful coastal cities. One is close to Sydney (Newcastle) and one is close to Brisbane (Griffith Gold Coast). Both would make good choices. There's probably more work on the Gold Coast than in Newcastle. Of course, everything is very different now from when you first asked your question. I hope you're okay!

Two good unis with different strengths. Newcastle is dual accredited by AACSB and EQUIS. If you study in Newcastle itself (which I would probably recommend for the best on-campus experience) the new business space NewSpace is great. Newcastle is a relaxed town too. Griffith has several campuses. Gold Coast is my pick for the best student atmosphere and access to off campus opportunities on the Gold Coast. Griffith's strength in Asian Business is an asset to the uni. It has a stronger overseas study program than UoN imo but both have work integrated learning opportunities.
Your videos are really helpful and great. I am planning to come to Australia for my bachelor's degree. I am planning to pursue Bachelor of Engineering with a specialization in Software Engineering. I am in dilemma whether to choose Macquarie University or the University of Newcastle. I saw that UoN is fully accredited by Engineers Australia whereas Macquarie University is provisionally accredited. So, Can you please suggest me which of these unis is better for Software Engineering?
Provisional just means awaiting the final process or some final information to be submitted. Both MQ and UoN are good so I’d also consider other things, like if you want to be in a huge city like Sydney or a smaller place like Newcastle, which is cheaper with less pressure.
Newcastle is a nice uni. Really set amongst the bush. Beautiful beaches in Newcastle too and the new business and law building in the city centre has great facilities. Always apply as early as possible to give yourself plenty of time to get through all the paperwork!
@@ChoosingYourUni I LOVE WSU, but there is a chance that I may be moving to the Central Coast near Long Jetty, and so was considering transferring for convenience, however I really wouldn't want to do so if I wasn't confident that the program and campus life in general at UoN was just as fulfilling if not better than WSU! Finding a full time job in Australia is of utmost importance to me and obviously having a good time exploring the country while studying too As of now, I'm more inclined towards UoN because of the dual degree providing more scope, its excellence in academics and the high employability rates post coursework. Newcastle is a great city too. Deakin also sounds extremely lucrative. However, I wanna weigh all the options equally without any sort of bias.

That’s a good program. Newcastle is regional so should have post study work rights - although I’m not sure if studying at the Sydney campus is different. The MBA has good connections with business.

I am planning to complete my MBA in HRM and UON is the only university to offer MBA+HRM combined whereas other universities are offering it as a specialisation. I am currently confused as to which university would be better in terms of employability, connection to the industry and Work integrated learning. I have looked upon University of Wollongong and I am more inclined towards UON, considering Newcastle might have more part time opportunities. Could you share your thoughts whether UON is a good option or should I look for a different University and any other university that you feel offers a great Programme in MBA.
Did you DM me on IG by any chance? I just had a similar question there. Both UoN and UoW are interesting MBA programs imo. They both have the advantage of being outside the “big” city of Sydney, but close to Sydney and also with offices there too.
Right now there’s PLENTY of work all over Australia since backpackers and students have been blocked from the country for 18 months. I think there will still be shortages of staff for at least a year so if you’re planning on coming in first semester next year there should be heaps of casual work available.

Both great programs with their own unique strengths. Adelaide and Newcastle are quite different as cities. Both business schools are well accredited and the MBA programs are good.
Two good programs and similar unis in many ways. Wollongong is closer to Sydney so maybe easier access to internship/practical opportunities. I love both cities and unis - maybe UoW a shave ahead on this one for me.
I'm doing a double degree of Business and Information Technology. Managed to go both of the campus from times to times. Forgot how good this university is, not the best, but loving it.

Thanks mate. I’m not sure about that program. It has advantages in that it will be less expensive and is at a regional uni (good for post study visa rights) but places like UTS, MQ and UNSW have stronger programs I think.

Newcastle has a good health faculty that is well reputed and connected to the local health facilities and authorities.

It has. Things aren’t great in Sydney right now, but that’s a few hundred kilometres away. Would rather be in Newcastle than Sydney right now!
Which physiotherapy is better? UON, ACU or UWS ? I don’t see much information of the physio at UON, like the building and the facility etc.

It is difficult to make a choice of where to go when you have never been there and don’t really know the area, and I can’t base it on the websites and info, that is why your vids are great they give a bit more of an insight! 👍🏻

If you want somewhere that is always warm, Sunshine Coast is def your option. It’s a warm and lovely part of the country!
Newcastle has incredible beaches and October through May is warm. It’s pretty close to Sydney which is great too.
Both Newcastle and Sunshine Coast have airports close by so you can get to other parts of the country quite easily.
Wollongong is probably the best uni overall of the three and is close to Sydney. But it’s the furthest south so is also coldest by far!

If it were me I’d choose Curtin, because it’s a great uni, has an amazing student vibe, the business faculty is great and I love Perth.
Newcastle would suit you better if you’re looking to study near the beach. Newcastle isn’t huge, but it’s close to Sydney (3 hours on the train to the centre of Sydney).

If you’re an international student you’re allowed to work up to 24 hours per week, at time of writing, whilst studying plus full time during the holidays.

Hi thank you for such a great campus review. I’m from Asia and having problem deciding for my child in choosing IT course between Murdoch Perth or Newcastle Callaghan. Which Uni would you recommend? I’m also kind of worry of the safety if it’s in a big bushland campus.
Safety is not a problem in Australia. Even the big bush land campuses have good security services and things like courtesy buses after dark if your child is there late.
Both these unis are interesting and similar in some ways. I think Newcastle is maybe the better uni overall, but Perth is one of my favourite student cities. There might be more opportunities for students for internships and things like that in Perth.
It’s a line ball choice for me. Both are solid.
What should I put in work experience and my statement of purpose to impress them for under Graduation admission?
What work experience do you have?
In terms of "Statement of Purpose", tell them WHY. Why Newcastle, why the degree you're choosing, why that program will help you get where you want to go etc.

If it's a bachelor degree, you won't have to show any work experience. A Masters degree might be different.

hey I got admission offer for MBA global in UNC . I also have offers from Curtin and Deakin university as well . I'm just confused between UNC and Curtin fees is less in UNC plus its near Sydney which has more prospects for management jobs as compared to Perth but I like the campus of Curtin . your views sir .
Good questions. The UoN degree is excellent and there are advantages to being close to Sydney. Curtin also has a strong program but you are right that Perth is a smaller city with fewer pure management jobs outside of the mining sector (although it should be noted that Curtin has excellent linkages into the mining industry).
I think the Curtin campus is definitely nicer BUT the UoN New-space is quite new with good facilities. For an MBA I would worry less about the campus than the industry connections imo

Okay, so you’re in Sydney so would have to move to either Newcastle or the Gold Coast.
Both business schools are good.
Newcastle and the Gold Coast are both coastal towns - nice beaches and outdoor life.
Depending on what you do, there will be more part time work on the Gold Coast.
Newcastle teaches some degrees in Sydney. I don’t know if that would interest you?
Griffith has a strong international studies program (eg opportunities to study overseas). It also has expertise and real strength in Asian Business and Asian culture - obviously very important in the modern global economy!
Griffith’s leadership development programs are stronger than Newcastle.
Both unis have good support services for international students, Griffith maybe a touch in front.
I like both campuses. Newcastle is really amongst the trees and like being in the bush. Griffith Gold Coast has a great vibe and is more cosmopolitan with more eating and cafe opportunities.

Both Newcastle and Griffith are strong business schools. I like them both.
Both the Gold Coast and Newcastle are beautiful coastal cities. One is close to Sydney (Newcastle) and one is close to Brisbane (Griffith Gold Coast).
Both would make good choices.
There's probably more work on the Gold Coast than in Newcastle. Of course, everything is very different now from when you first asked your question.

Two good unis with different strengths. Newcastle is dual accredited by AACSB and EQUIS. If you study in Newcastle itself (which I would probably recommend for the best on-campus experience) the new business space NewSpace is great. Newcastle is a relaxed town too.
Griffith has several campuses. Gold Coast is my pick for the best student atmosphere and access to off campus opportunities on the Gold Coast. Griffith's strength in Asian Business is an asset to the uni. It has a stronger overseas study program than UoN imo but both have work integrated learning opportunities.
What about biomedical sciences department??
The biomed program is good at UoN from what I've heard.
I did both undergrad and postgrad there, top University.

Your videos are really helpful and great. I am planning to come to Australia for my bachelor's degree. I am planning to pursue Bachelor of Engineering with a specialization in Software Engineering. I am in dilemma whether to choose Macquarie University or the University of Newcastle. I saw that UoN is fully accredited by Engineers Australia whereas Macquarie University is provisionally accredited. So, Can you please suggest me which of these unis is better for Software Engineering?
Provisional just means awaiting the final process or some final information to be submitted. Both MQ and UoN are good so I’d also consider other things, like if you want to be in a huge city like Sydney or a smaller place like Newcastle, which is cheaper with less pressure.

Newcastle is a nice uni. Really set amongst the bush. Beautiful beaches in Newcastle too and the new business and law building in the city centre has great facilities.
Always apply as early as possible to give yourself plenty of time to get through all the paperwork!

@@ChoosingYourUni I LOVE WSU, but there is a chance that I may be moving to the Central Coast near Long Jetty, and so was considering transferring for convenience, however I really wouldn't want to do so if I wasn't confident that the program and campus life in general at UoN was just as fulfilling if not better than WSU! As of now, I'm more inclined towards UoN because of the dual degree providing more scope, its excellence in academics and the high employability rates post coursework. Newcastle is a great city too. Deakin also sounds extremely lucrative. However, I wanna weigh all the options equally without any sort of bias.

That’s a good program. Newcastle is regional so should have post study work rights - although I’m not sure if studying at the Sydney campus is different. The MBA has good connections with business.

I am planning to complete my MBA in HRM and UON is the only university to offer MBA+HRM combined whereas other universities are offering it as a specialisation. I am currently confused as to which university would be better in terms of employability, connection to the industry and Work integrated learning. I have looked upon University of Wollongong and I am more inclined towards UON, considering Newcastle might have more part time opportunities. Could you share your thoughts whether UON is a good option or should I look for a different University and any other university that you feel offers a great Programme in MBA.

Both UoN and UoW are interesting MBA programs imo.
They both have the advantage of being outside the “big” city of Sydney, but close to Sydney and also with offices there too.
Right now there’s PLENTY of work all over Australia since backpackers and students have been blocked from the country for 18 months. I think there will still be shortages of staff for at least a year so if you’re planning on coming in first semester next year there should be heaps of casual work available.

Both great programs with their own unique strengths. Adelaide and Newcastle are quite different as cities. Both business schools are well accredited and the MBA programs are good.

Two good programs and similar unis in many ways. Wollongong is closer to Sydney so maybe easier access to internship/practical opportunities. I love both cities and unis - maybe UoW a shave ahead on this one for me.
I'm doing a double degree of Business and Information Technology. Managed to go both of the campus from times to times. Forgot how good this university is, not the best, but loving it.

Newcastle is definitely cheaper for cost of living and tuition. It has a campus in the city centre of Newcastle - NewSpace. It’s a great space.

I’m not sure about that program. It has advantages in that it will be less expensive and is at a regional uni (good for post study visa rights) but places like UTS, MQ and UNSW have stronger programs I think.
