- We were recently asked by the Competitors and Promoters Association of NSW (CAPA) to attend a demonstration of ColdFire at Sydney International Speedway.
The ColdFire product is an alternative to the standard foam & powder fire extinguishers used at many race tracks.
By all accounts, the product has many benefits.
So why aren't more race tracks using it?

I think this is the same stuff a sprintcar driver in the us sprayed on his race suit before later catching on fire after crashing

Are you serious with this?
To begin with, nobody sprays a powder extinguisher on a human unless it's an absolute last resort.
This type of extinguisher has been around for ages and it's ONLY approved by Speedway Australia as an alternative to the foam extinguishers.
Rules still require powder extinguishers as well and for good reasons.
This is another poorly researched promotion.

As a co-owner of a motorsport safety company and a speedway racer/fire crew when I’m not racing we switched to cold fire years ago doing burnouts and drag racing events and we’ll never go back to foam. If only speedway australia would tighten their regulations on requirements for infield fire/crash crew to make everybody safer
