when i was in a school program they asked for a items list for them to buy, i put devcon on there and they bought him i used it and let me take him home for free
Am I to guess that the reason why Missing Link Optimus Prime is missing from this list and that Deluxe Legacy Optimus Prime is your number 1 and not the ML, is because you haven't picked it up yet?
Possibly, or if I’d have had the money studio series. Thanks a big maybe. I feel the regular United release is to make sure everyone gets a fair compromise between the hard to find or more expensive versions out there. It’s all subjective and I’m sure I’ll eat my own words if I do one for 2025. 😅
@@toyscourge4983 I guess I'm asking because I was fairly picky this year with stuff, but I got Missing Link Convoy for my birthday, but had it sitting in my HLJ private warehouse for 6 months, and had it not been for Popcultcha refusing potential returns in the event of a defect, 2 months after he arrived, 86 Optimus would have been my Christmas present. I don't really have much of a desire to pick up Legacy United Optimus Prime. I do think it does the arm transformation slightly better and does a better job of dealing with the hole in Optimus' back, but tbh I still think that Legacy United Optimus Prime is basically a budget missing link Convoy. I don't know if you've handled one, but with how the articulation works on the figure, it really does feel like what we imagined Optimus Prime to be when we handled the figure as kids, while still essentially giving us the same G1 toy we had as kids. I can understand why you like Legacy United Optimus if you've yet to get your hands on one, however multiply what you felt when you first handled LU Prime, by at least 10, when you handle ML Convoy. I'm also surprised that I didn't see GE Sideswipe, Origins Wheeljack or Concept Megatron on this list as honestly, they're my Deluxe of the year, Voyager of the year and Leader of the year respectively, with 86 Optimus being my Commander of the year. That's not to say that there weren't some great offerings out there. Straxus suits the Galvatron mold better than Galvatron IMHO. Emirate Xaaron is a great figure from the perspective of inventing an alt-mode out of nothing, although he's not the best at that this year. Sandstorm and 86 Swoop could easily have been the Leader of the year in another year with weaker offerings. Gears annoys me because he's very well done and we were meant to get him 3 years ago, in Kingdom. Flame isn't perfect, due to how off the alt mode is, but he's an adequate retooling of GE Megatron. Windsweeper and especially Ruckus are respectable offerings and Ruckus is a case study in retools done right. However in terms of 2024 offerings, I have to give it to those 3 in those size classed. GE Sideswpie's 24 step transformation feels like it's been taken from a masterpiece, with the right amount of use of struts and hinges on an internal skeleton, to just feel sublime. The way the shoulders and torso transforms is nothing short of a masterpiece. Then there's Wheeljack. Yes he's not quite perfect, but good luck getting him into a leader class price point to origami away the backpack (which I wold happily pay). However for a Voyager class price-point, he's nothing less than exceptional. This think felt like a Floro Dery design come to light. yes, maybe the le3gs could have been slightly thinner, but when you see just how much panelling has been origami'ed into them, you can easily forgive it. This thing doesn't mass shift, but it sure feels like it, being the same size as Earthrise Wheeljack in robot mode and around the same size as 86 Ironhide in vehicle mode. That leads me to Studio Series 109 Concept Megatron. The it's clear that there was minimal, if any afterthought, by the designers, for the Bumblebee movie Megatron to turn into anything. He's not quite a Floro Dery femmebot in that regard, but boy does he come close to it. Yet despite having almost nothing to work with, the designers somehow managed to squeeze a passible tank mode conversion in 32 steps, into the figure and an additional 39 step conversion from tank into alien jet. It shouldn't be possible and yet it is. It honestly makes me hopeful that maybe we might see competent femmebot toys being made in the future, even through Haslab - once we reach a point where Hasbro can charge leader class pricepoints on deluxe-sized figures, with 60-80 step conversions (Firestar is going to be the worst for it here), wethout the fandom rioting. Sandstorm and Swoop are great figures, but the engineering hurdle those figures have to clear, is a tiny pebble compared the figurative mountain of one that Concept Megatron has to overcome. As for 86 Optimus, I can tell you unequivocally, that he is to MP-44, what 86 Ultra Magnus is to MP-22.
Nice video. I appreciate the variety of your choices.
Thanks. It was thought out but the video kind of thrown together rather quickly 😅
Great video!
