When Michael Bell answered Wally Burr using Scrapper's voice, he seemed to be into his character. And we thought Frank Welker liked to play around with his characters.

Over the years I’ve tried to meet as many G1 VAs as possible, and I’ve met 6 from this session: Bell, Cullen, Gilvezan, Rayle, Stephenson, and Welker. Hal seriously is a hoot :) RIP Chris Latta, John Stephenson, and Don Messick

anyone else notice there where a bunch of SCENE DELETED on the screen some of was them playing around and some add to the story i wonder how many of the episodes had this and what was left on the cutting room floor anyone else wish some how we could see all the episodes and movie like this . i know its a lot of work but this was great the behind the scenes look how they cast was with in other from stories you hear the cast joked around a lot and you hear it here .and thanks for this was great

This is a dream come true. Transformers and G.I. Joe were the peak of my fascination with these amazing actors. I always appreciated that no one sounded like they were “just” providing voices for a cartoon - they were putting effort and pride into delivering incredible performances that gave these characters life. So much love and respect for these legends. Thanks so much for this video.

@@michaelrlomax1977 - Amazingly, sometimes it can still work - Even in the 80s, as I have recently discovered, Dungeons & Dragons was rarely recorded with everyone present...and so numerous episode recordings are the results of two to even THREE sessions with a variety of actors! :)
These recording sessions are A ton of fun to listen to. It's neat hearing the cast recording their lines in their real voices before any robotic alterations were made to them. (They are Transformers, after all.) Also, hearing them say dirty words reminds me of lines for A cutaway gag on 'Family Guy'. Even with some some minor slip ups, you can tell that Michael Bell, and Chris Latta had alot of fun while still trying to keep things going.

Frank had me in hysterics in this episode. I'm surprised that Chris didn't follow up on that should be why HE (Starscream) should be the leader, he never gets names wrong. :D Editing flub at 20:50 there, whoops. Also those 'auto-buns' from Germany sound delicious. :D

As a novice voice actor, this is like a peek behind the scenes of greatness in the making. I actually got to meet Michael Bell at TFCon this year in Baltimore. I didn't know he provided the voice of Tidalwave as well as his G1 characters and when I saw that info, I automatically just belted out a "Tidalwave". He said I stole his voice. Not sure how he felt about that, but I'll take the compliment! He was awesome!
These are absolutely fascinating. I watched these episodes a hundred times as a kid, and it's funny how much care Wally is putting into the voice acting/direction whenever the editors and overseas animation are going to end up goobering their work significantly.
Notice how the scene where Wheeljack is talking about how he has improved the Dinobots was basically rejigged & used in part one of Dinobot Island and in Atlantis Arise the Dinobots weren't playing baseball but they were playing football. I like that they reused some of the unused ideas from this script in other episodes.
Damn, I love this stuff. I could listen to this all day long! I've always wondered why the Dinobots only come into the episode at the very end. I always thought it was either bad writing or a clever way to surprise the viewer, but apparently they were already involved in the previously deleted scene. Cool, a nice surprise to realize this now, decades later😄 A pity though that Megatron's speech about the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons was partially removed/shortened
Yeah, the edit of Megatron's speech...it's an odd choice that they made to remove that chunk, because it (obviously) flows SO much better with the scripted dialogue! :) - Actually, as I reply to your comment, I've just had an idea for a future video...

Wally Burr reminds me of Frank Langella a bit. I really admire these voice actors, like you say, no phoning in. I watched a very old Japanese voice actor session from 'AKIRA' which was fascinating. They matched the story boards up to the actors voices as i recall

For any Seinfeld fans out there, I totally geeked out when I saw Arthur Burghardt listed as having a voice acting credit on this episode. In the Season 8 episode 'The Pothole', Kramer adopts Mile 114 of the Arthur Burghardt Expressway, named after this actor. I believe that this was even mentioned in their own DVD commentary, stating it was an inside joke. If you count Chris Latta playing a subway thug who tries to rob Kramer in the Season 3 episode, 'The Subway', this makes two really big connections to Seinfeld that I am aware of.
The timing of your comment was SO bizarre - At the time I was watching many compilation clips from Seinfeld on the official TH-cam channel - Bear in mind that I haven't rewatched Seinfeld in a good few years - So, yeah, the timing made me chuckle! :) - Also, I had completely missed the reference to Arthur Burghardt...so thanks for pointing out that to me! :)

I used to have access to the Filmation warehouse back in the early 2000s...and even as recent as the 2010s I had access to Classic Media's collection of Filmation materials...and sadly, I never saw any evidence of voice reels...which is a crying shame! :(

They were indeed...some cast members even having to share a microphone! :)
That’s cool why don’t they do it like they did back then it would make movies and video games seem more natural when they talk together
@@jetlox - Yeah, it's very much a lost art now - You often find that the only shows that record with the entire cast (or at least most of the cast) are directed by voice actors from back in the day...:)
