Olivia has a beautiful voice which wonderfully demonstrates all the important features in for a female voice! I listen at .75 , so a little slower and have been able to mimic some of her vocal mannerisms. She has great prosody, which is a kind of way of emphasizing words in a rhythmic pattern. It gives speech a sort of singie songie quality.

Thank you, Earth Pearl! :) Mimicking is a great way to practice!

@@oliviaflanigan5938 I think you’re right. One thing I noticed when listening to and to other women is this way of inflecting when listing things. You do it a lot like when you’re sharing ideas for people at a holiday party or who might be around family members who aren’t very open to different gender expressions. It’s crazy how there’s this universal inflection women use! I think women’s voices may have evolved to appeal to infants. The sliding, the cooing, all these vocal expressions are received by the baby’s developing brain which help build a bond with the mother. Men’s vocal tracts were probably meant to intimidate other men in the hunter gatherer group structure.

Another interesting tool I’ve heard other trans people trying is ai voice cloning! Very wary of the technology but it’s interesting to try out, and hear what a consistent feminine speech of my own voice would song like given a small sample of good input audio

@@oliviaflanigan5938 you got it! I used Eleven Labs and it’s been an interesting tool to hear back my voice and try to train it differently until it sounds like the optimal voice id want. The tech is far from perfect but improving all the time and another tool to help 🌻

You may try asking, "Please give me some exercises to make my voice resonance more feminine." Now, if you get something useful there, that could be scary. Also, providing voice input and getting a response from Chat CPT as your voice coach would be daunting. Personally, I think there is no substitute for human interaction. But, then again, I was wrong about cell phones and thought they would never be ubiquitous because wire line phones would have better sound quality. I was wrong.

I've seen some replies on reddit from people asking for exercises - it's not bad! It's just like videos, though, you don't get the feedback from a person, so it can be hard to work with.

ChatGPT often gets things completely backwards, because it only really understands the way written language tends to hang together, statistically speaking, rather than the actual topic it appears to be discussing. It is very skilled at constructing plausible sentences and paragraphs in myriad styles, but the content is not necessarily factual. I understand the paid version is much better, because it can look up things from the web on the fly, but I have not tried it.
And ChatGPT is hilariously apologetic if you call it out. "Yes, sorry you're right, a chest voice is *not* generally perceived as particularly feminine. Thank you for correcting me, I will try harder next time". When asked to list some common English idioms, it complied, but along with actual idioms like "pot calling the kettle black" and various others, it invented several out of whole cloth. When challenged? "Sorry, yes I made that one up. 'steering from behind' is not actually a common English idiom".
So... it's best not to take chatGPT output without a good pinch of salt, no matter how confidently it is presented.
But I have used *this* prompt with great success for voice work:
"Hi chat, I am looking for some phrases to use in voice exercises. I want to emphasise head resonance, so I expect the words should contain a lot of M, N, G and S sounds, and plenty of long vowels but please use your own understanding of human speech production to influence your choice of words. Please give a series short sentences (on the subject of XXX or YYY) that can be recited to train resonance."
And of course you should replace XXX and YYY with whatever topic or domain offers the exact vocabulary you want to practice, and you can continue asking, for example (this is a really fun one):
"Thanks. Those practice phrases were great! Now please offer 10 sentences that might be expected from a lady gossiping about other women in a less complimentary manner with her girlfriends, again emphasizing head resonance sounds and long vowels:"
    Output:
"I heard Megan can be quite manipulative when she wants something."
"Nina's fashion choices lately have been a bit mismatched, don't you think?"
"Mandy seems to be overly materialistic; it's always about luxury brands."
"Grace's constant need for attention can be a bit annoying at times."
"Monica's makeup skills could use some improvement, to be honest."
"Natalie's constant gossiping is getting on my nerves."
"Gina can be so nosy; she's always prying into other people's business."
"Mia's Instagram posts are so narcissistic; it's all about her, all the time."
"Angela's need for validation is starting to become a bit much."
"Nicole's gossiping habit is not very becoming; it's time she grew up."
as you can easily tell, it gets pretty bitchy. LOL.
BTW I love your channel, Olivia.

That's really helpful info about ChatGPT - I will be checking it out more. It's definitely an interesting resource!

No you are not the last one to check out chatgpt because I am the last. And I will outlast all the lasters because I'm a true Luddite. I don't even use GPS or Google Maps and prefer to get lost. That's how I discover cool used clothing boutiques on trips. BTW I love your lipstick, it totally matches your top!

You're very welcome! Yeah I agree, you have to look around and explore and I feel like people just don't do that anymore because their eyes are glued to their screens and also their phones tell them where to look and what to do. We're turning into robots! Regarding speaking at a higher pitch thanks for the pointers. But I think I experienced strain for different reasons. Hard to explain. But I think I need a voice teacher for general vocal hygiene, not just for voice feminization. 😐
