I HIGHLY recommend, "O' Father, O' Satan, O 'Sun!" by BEHEMOTH.

This is actually one of their most chill songs, if you can believe that. Stuff like this, Havohej Pantocrator & O Father O Satan O Sun are all bit more subdued, but also very epic & grandiose.
Their older stuff (to use one of your sayings that I like) will really hit you with the People's Elbow if you're not ready for it. And not just that, it'll hit you with the Stone Cold Stunner, the People's Elbow AND top it off with a Swanton Bomb. The whole works.
Songs like Prometherion, Demigod, Shemhamforash, etc, etc. It's all insane. I remember when I first discovered Behemoth as a pre-teen or whenever it was, Inferno was absolutely the fastest drummer I've ever heard. And he held that title until more and more tech death bands came along and started pushing the boundaries of how crazy you can get with your instruments lol.
But yeah, the last two Behemoth albums have slowed down a bit, but it's almost like they've become more wise in their age lol. Their *demonic warlord* years are over, but they've simultaneously entered their *mystical dark wizard* era lmao.
It's more about the atmosphere, rather than how brutal they can be. Personally though, I love every Behemoth era.
I'm done monologuing now, so lemme throw some suggestions at ya:
    -Alas, Lord Is Upon Me
    -Ov Fire And The Void
-At The Left Hand Ov God
    -He Who Breeds Pestilence
Fair warning: they're all still *very* heavy at points, but overall slow enough that it's still somewhat manageable lol.

      @SKULLEDBUICK 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh btw, for lyrical breakdowns:

He already reacted to that song, but it's been blocked by copyright. :/ Agree though that it's fantastic. That whole album is basically perfect. I still remember exactly where I was the first time I heard O Father, O Satan, O Sun.

  • @blackdeathdoom1
    @blackdeathdoom1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Behemoth is such a huge classic metal band. "Ora Pro Nobus Lucifer" should be your next song by them from their masterpiece The Satanist.
ALSO to another recommendation for Cult of Luna! Their catalogue is colossal, diverse and definitely worth a listen! "Three Bridges" is you want their newest stuff, "Circle" if you want their older stuff, "Dim" if you want a more gentle ride or their magnum opus "Dark City, Dead Man".
ALSO ALSO ALSO mentioning Violet Cold a solo project by a dude from Azerbaijan who doesn't give a shit and samples sounds from all over the place creating some of the most unique music. "We Met During The Revolution" from his newest album or "Silver Moon pt2" from an older album.

SUMMONING fans, let's introduce Summoning for him, shall we?
If you want something completely different than any other, please give a try to SUMMONING.
They mix black metal elements to what is called Dungeon Synth and all their lyrics are based or inspired by the works of Tolkien and Middle-earth.
They are so influential and recognized that in 2016 around 20 other bands collab in releasing an tribute album (3 CD's full!) covering Summoning songs.
There's so many songs I could recommend for you that I drown in ideas.

Oh that's an easy suggestion, a lyrical view on where owls know my name by rivers of nihil would be nice. While you're at it, rivers of nihil has other great compositions to view overall as well, subtle change for an example. Hollow is also nice. Not so subtle in terms of what it's about, but i find it not only relatable but a nice track as well. Great use of droning sounds depicting the whole "hollow" aspect.

So, the lyrics for the song is, (see below):
    Behemoth-Bartzabel
    O Purple flame
    O whirling wheel ov life
    Appear! Move! Rise!
    Come unto me Bartzabel
By the laws divine I quell
    Come unto me Bartzabel
    By the raging blood cells
    Come unto me Bartzabel
By the spear, the sword, the spell
    Come unto me Bartzabel
By the word that openeth Hell
    By Ra Hoor Khuit
    By Elohim
    By Samael
    By Seraphim
    By Hoor and Khem
    By Gods ov War
Ares and Mars, and mighty Thor
    Come unto me Bartzabel
By the power ov the panther's spell
    Come unto me Bartzabel
    By the circling citadel
    Come unto me Bartzabel
    By this mind ov miracles
    Come unto me Bartzabel
By the moon and stars, I swear
    By Ra Hoor Khuit
    By Elohim
    By Samael
    By Seraphim
    By Hoor and Khem
    By Gods ov War

Please check out Sylosis, a thrash/death metal band from Reading, England and a long-time favorite of mine. They do excellent work, and in particular are notable for the incredible riff writing of Josh Middleton, who does the vocals and co-lead guitar, as well as the fact that, until their latest album, all their songs used guitars tuned to E Standard, which is highly unusual in modern metal. I struggle to recommend just a single song from them, so instead, I'll give you a song from each album and you can pick the one you think is the most interesting :)
    Album - Song - Year - Notes - Link
Cycle of Suffering - I Sever - 2020 - Only song I've listed tuned to D Standard instead of E, includes my favorite vocal performance in this list - th-cam.com/video/dZDd-MwuvcM/w-d-xo.html
Dormant Heart - Servitude - 2015 - Manages to get some interesting perception of speed despite its tempo - the fastest-feeling part of the song has the slowest tempo and vice versa - th-cam.com/video/9_RT0G4wWKg/w-d-xo.html
Monolith - A Dying Vine - 2012 - Probably the song I've listened to the most times on this list, main riff is blazing fast and the vocals that accompany it are very quick as well, which is all the more impressive when considering that they're done by the same person at the same time. Changes significantly over its duration, particularly in emotion. - th-cam.com/video/4Uol-vZNAt4/w-d-xo.html
Edge of the Earth - Procession - 2011 - Strongest "groove" out of this list, and has my favorite intro and main riff in the list as well - th-cam.com/video/Iz6xlrLKd4M/w-d-xo.html
Conclusion of an Age - Last Remaining Light - 2008 - From before Josh took over the vocal role; in my opinion the old vocalist wasn't as good as him, so I don't listen to this album much, but the solos in this song are amazing and I still find it a joy to listen to. - th-cam.com/video/hMARq1y0PvY/w-d-xo.html

Just found you this morning through your 46&2 reaction and I love your channel. I have a suggestion that I think any composer would appreciate.
    th-cam.com/video/7mIV6ADAnnk/w-d-xo.html
This is “The Hands that Thieve” by Streetlight Manifesto, a 7-piece band that plays music categorized as “ska punk” but it’s very complex and extremely well-composed, and calling it ska punk is really undercutting its brilliance. It draws from many influences, such as Eastern European music, Latin music, jazz, swing, and of course, punk rock, among others.
There are fantastic harmonies between the four brass instruments, complex and ever-changing drum lines, and very meaningful lyrics. It all comes together in such a perfect way, and every song is like that. There’s not a bad or uncared-for song in their catalog. The frontman, Tomas Kalnoky, is a self-described perfectionist, and it really shows in the music that he spends years at a time writing.
I’ve always wanted to hear a composer’s take on the band. So I’ll probably post this on every video until you either tell me to stop or give it a listen lol.
