    I think the old world was surprisingly more advanced than we may think, the burning of the library of Alexandria may have set us back centuries

    • @flambookey
      @flambookey 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Do some research. Very little would be different. It wasn’t the only library that existed in the world, nor was it old by the times standards. It wasn’t even destroyed in a fire. There has never been any indication that the library contained technological advancements. It would have contained complete plays and such, but nothing more.

      It's to show what's important i.e animals and the earth every planet with life has one intelligent species to look after the animals and said planet, we can easily be replaced but they can't and will be for we are not doing what we are supposed to be doing.

    • @GeekRaj
      @GeekRaj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly, we are supposed to save this planet as an advanced species it's our responsibility to coexist with animals, thrive with them. But we are killing our planet with plastic, nuclear waste and non bio degradable trash. In the name of money. We kill in the name of money. We lie in the name of money. We are destroying our planet, people and many species. Rich become richer, poor become homeless.

    I'm really torn with this channel. On one hand, I want more videos per week because they're so awesome, but on the other Hand it's clear that you very thoroughly research all the topics, which obviously takes time. So if there would be more videos, I fear that the quality would suffer and that would be a shame. Does anybody here share those feelings?

    All of your videos have actually given me a hugely broad intake of information, so much so I've been thinking none-stop about things that I never stop thinking about the possibilities within the universe. Two things that come to mind are the facts that there are now some scientists who think that we are living in a simulation. The other is that we as a species create so many things, and, in particular create a lot of fiction throughout time.
    These facts combined with this video provide me with the thoughts that most fictional stories/media ect are not actually fiction at all but rather undiscovered facts, such as the possibility of highly advanced civilizations existing long before the present. I'm a firm believer of panspermia and that life is spread throughout the universe like how pollen from flowers is spread.
    Keep up the excellent job, your channel is easily one of TH-cam's best.

    • @aphroditeonearth9947
      @aphroditeonearth9947 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andy never forget *all facts* are just massly agreed upon ideas and ideologies. Work things out for yourself, really examine every nuance about whatever the subject is and don't negate ideas just because you don't agree with them. I'm not saying *you* do that, I'm saying most do and it's a big hinderance to the evolution of ideas and thoughts. I have many many many personal theories, that are not "out in the world" about many many many different things..you have to curve your thoughts like how they curve the bullet in wanted to see beside and around an idea, you have to want to go outside the norm and see from outside you own perception as well. True Truth is unbiased. We are naturally biased, so much so we deny it and verify facts we've biasedly agreed upon thus not allowing ourselves the chance to be truly unbiased observers.

    I think the biggest plus for Top5s, other than the amazing voice, is a fact that they always provide is with new, unique content. It's close to impossible to see the stuff other channels just recycle. We always get some fresh, not so popular content on already seen topics. Eg. Always amusing for people to sum it up to extremely advanced aliens that can travel the universe.. But have the drawing skills of a benadryl drowsy, half awake toddler after watching The Land Before Time. *shake my head* All it takes is a late-night marathon of The X-Files or a plane flying towards some people at night and BAM! Actual HISTORIAN here and I feel that it's my duty to inform my fellow subscribers that while these artifacts are of GREAT INTEREST to historians and others alike; they are not as mysterious as you present them to be. We are capable of translating almost every single thing you call a codex; some of which are actually gibberish and nonsense. Simply because we don't publish anything that we cannot prove; you assume that no one has deciphered these writings/art. People have, but because their findings are not 'provable' by historical standards, they go unpublished. While it is very fun to entertain fantastical ideas, I am subscribed to you after all, there is much research that is not made publicly available simply bc we cannot, beyond a shadow of a doubt, prove the knowledge we have acquired from these artifacts.

    With number 5, it was a pretty common thing for a lot of early/ancient maps to feature land masses in the north and south. You mentioned how Piri was inspired by maps Alexander the Great used, a lot of maps during that time featured land in the north and south. I have a map of Magellan's travels and voyages, around the same time as the creation of Piri's map, and it also features land in the south. The reason why these maps have land in the south and not the north is because the north was more heavily explored before the south was.

    My thought on this is as follows: our planet is like, what, 4 billion years. Recorded history has about... uh what, 2000? But we're actually only pretty certain of the last 500 (with many suppositions). To think that we are somewhat certain of our ancient history is absolutely ridiculous.

    I am pretty sure they didn't draw antarctica, almost 100% they didn't, as one of the maps you showed literally said "Terra Australis" on "Antarctica"
    "Terra Australis.
    Terra Australis is a hypothetical continent first posited in

    I want to know why an old drawing of a dinosaur/dinosaur-like creature always equates to "Humans and dinosaurs lived together"! (Not that I dislike the idea, I find it ass cool as the next guy). Why can't someone have just found the dinosaur fossils, found them cool, and drawn/carved them somewhere? "Look, there's a space man on this hieroglyph". I mean, people back then had imaginations too. I like to keep an open mind about things, and if someone comes and tells me "there's no way that aliens exist" I will come back at him with an argument from the other perspective, but I don't think that means jumping on the bandwagon and saying aliens exist or dinosaurs lived with people without finding substantial proof that isn't a hoax.
