Thank you for watching this video of the Resqme The Original Emergency Keychain Car Escape Tool. Here is a link to the Resqme from Amazon. amzn.to/2D44zn5 . I have a many of these in my vehicles on attached to my various bags/kits. They provide peace of mind and the Made In The USA construction is great.
Awesome recently I heard a story of a Doctor who died locked inside of a Tesla and that got me really anxious in case of an emergency like that situation I can have the visor clip and equipment handy so I can quickly hop out like you did lol! Was the window of your car really completely closed shut when you added the visor clip and emergency equipment which busted the window with force so you could hop out safely in the end?
may I suggest as a retired fire fighter that you should ; (1) rest your hand on the door and push the tool with your fingers that way you will not push your hand into the glass. (2) turn your face way (3) hand protection - I see that you are wearing gloves which may not be with in reach but you may be able to use another piece of clothing shirt / sleeve - ( ) one last tidbit you may be able to get the floor mat to cover the broken glass on the door before you climb out great job as always
another thing to ad as a member of protección civil in Spain is that when broking the glass use it on the center, in that way you will broke all the window
I love the Resqme! I've kept one on my keys for a few years. True story: I found a bird tangled up in fishing lines at the beach, I didn't have a knife on me because I was wearing swim trunks. But I did have my Resqme on my keys! I used it to free the lines around the bird's feet and body. Window break can also be used to break windows in emergency cases if a pet is locked or left in a vehicle on a hot day. Obviously, contact authorities first and try to find the owner unless the pet is showing severe signs of distress and overheating. Resqme saves animal lives too!
This is an great video. I am a professional rescuer and I can tell you from personal experience that this is a great product. I have used it on multiple windows and seat belts. I have one in my personal vehicles and one at my work. It is also surprisingly easy to use with gloves on. Just one thing to mention more and more newer cars use laminated windows in both the windshield and side windows. This product as great as it is will not work on laminated windows. You have to check the corner of the window on your car near the windows serial number and see if it states that it is laminated. I carry a serrated edge knife that will cut though laminated windows. Cutting through laminated windows takes time, but gives you a way to get out. The resQme is much faster as you can see in the video. I hope this helps and keep up the great videos!!
Great video and demonstration (and escape, your quite agile). Thanks for taking the time to head out to the junkyard and film. I'm definetly sold on the resqme tool, for something so cheap it works very well.
+Canadian Prepper Haha... Thanks for watching, CP! I definitely want to try climbing out again, but with broken glass all around. I imagine it would change my method for escaping to avoid unwanted cuts.
1:06 I'm not sure if I'm convinced that in a major car crash it will remain in place, especially if the visor was in use. I've seen a lot of crash footage, things inside the car go all over the place in a major accident at freeway speeds. I will say I'm a fan of the tool and we have one in each of our cars. I like the idea of the visor clip a lot! It's common in a major accident to be stuck in place (which is why seatbelt cutters are so useful), but if you're stuck in place you may be physically unable to reach far enough to get to this tool. I like the keychain idea a lot. They keys in the engine (or in your pocket for keyless ignition) are going to be within reach (assuming you can get to your pocket after a major crash). Though, I tend to not leave much of anything on my key ring (personal preference) to lighten them.
+zero11010 It would be interesting to find a way to test the visor clip performance through violent jolting to see what it would take to make it no longer remain in place. I can't think of a good way to simulate that at this time, but I'll continue to think about a solution.
TheUrbanPrepper Hah. You sure you don't want to rent time at a crash testing facility to show if this plastic visor clip works? Or, you could buy one for everyone you know. Statistically, wouldn't one of them get into a decent sized accident within the next year or two? Perhaps it would be a little tasteless to ask them while they're in the hospital if the visor clip stayed in place. Totally kidding. This isn't the type of thing people are ever really going to know about unless this product ends up everywhere. I keep mine in a small compartment designed for change. If I'm totally stuck to the back of my seat (with the seat belt totally taut and stuck in place) with zero ability to move forward to reach farther than the steering wheel I'll need to use my pocket knife to cut myself free. But, if I'm in an accident that big I don't think I mind waiting for the fire department to show up. I can totally chill for a bit and bleed in peace.
Most new cars don't have keys in the traditional sense. My "key" is just a device that signals to my car that I'm inside and then I push a button to start the car. I never even take the "key" out of my bag.
I would suggest a third unit in the glove box or an enclosed center console compartment. My aunt was killed in a head-on collision years ago and the force of the impact pulled her wedding band off her finger and flung it into the back of her car. I can see a survivable collision potentially having enough force to fling those clipped on resqme tools into the back of the vehicle where they would then be inaccessible. Love your videos, by the way - well organized, very informative, with great ideas!
Great suggestion because someone else said that most likely the glove box will be smashed and unable to open. But I understand what your saying and I am so sorry for your loss. ❤️
WARNING: If you crash the gizmo will NOT still be on the visor. The impact will have thrown it from the visor to where you will never find it. Use a washer and screw it to the dash or window column through the key chain part.
I wouldn't put the tool on the visor. If you flip, the tool will end up somewhere else in your car. I use some paracord, and attach it to my hand brake which is right beside me. Either person in the front seat can easily get it.
Agreed. I have mine each duct taped inside pockets of the passenger doors, and a full sized and a rescue knife folder for the driver. Impact forces will just destroy most plastic, or most metallic clips.
One important thing to note, every window in your car doesn't necessarily have tempered glass in the side windows - many newer vehicles have laminated windows which these tools will NOT break. Some cars however, have different types of glass at different locations in the vehicle (i.e. one side window will be tempered) so it is important to research your car's windows if you do buy an emergency escape tool. Windshields and the back window are laminated - don't try to break them.
i gave these away a christmas presents a couple years ago. the springloaded feature is important. i dont know how that visor clip. i keep mine on a keychain and one ziptied to the steering column on one vehicle.
I gave these to my entire family for christmas in a car emergency kit I put together. Also inspired by your videos I put a mini medi in each one of the kits that my 5yo was super happy to put together for them.
More reasons to love your channel. Clearly a lot of effort put into it by actually going to a junkyard. I have had a couple of these for a long time, always wondered how well they would work. Now I know. Thanks for your hard work!
I bought a Resqme after my wife was in a car accident. I thought about buying it with the visor clip, but I was concerned about its ability to stay in place after an impact, so I ended up buying the regular one. I later got a second one, so both of us had one. I know what you mean about it being bulky, but I keep my "prepper bulge" hanging on a carabiner, so if it gets annoying, it can just hang from the belt loops.
The purpose of the spring load version is in the event of being submerged, you cannot use the hammer due to being unable to properly swing it while under water.
Excellent review. Thank you. I ordered two in red and the accessories package for both driver and passenger just in case. I will also show any who rides with me how to use it in case of an emergency if I don't, what's sense of having it if they don't know how to use it. One last thing i would suggest to add a drop of oil on the blade to prevent any corrosion. Thank you again and stay safe. 🇺🇲 👍🏼
Awesome demonstration. This is one of the first car edc items I bought. It lives on my wife's keys as she drives the car the most. I'll be updating to keep one in each car soon. But I always have my edc knife, and tactical pen with a glass breaker on the end so I'm at lest a little prepared. My neighbour bought a knock off res q me, and it doesn't work as well. If you test them side by side on a piece of wood, the genuine res q me leaves a far deeper dent and is more consistent. (At least the one I tested was)!
+Ben “Paracidic” Anderson Good point. My main goal was to experience how the glass would come down on my after breaking it, knocking out the remainder broken glass and trying to crawl out. I trusted that it would break the window from either the inside or outside.
I like the visor clip. I just keep one hanging from my review mirror. I started carrying it after I had to pull a lady from a Jeep after multiple rolls. It was difficult to get her out of the seat belt. Upside down and lots of blood and I didn't want to risk doing more damage by trying to cut the belt with my regular pocket knife. Besides this tool, I also now carry a rescue type folding pocket knife with a belt cutter and window breaker.
I like those also. Bought a 2 pack, one for me and the wife. I made lanyards out of hi vis orange paracord with reflective strands in it. Have it hanging from the blinker handle but I'm thinking the visor clip is a better choice. Nice vid!
great video! I've always wondered how well these work but haven't had the means to actually test it out. 1 question though, how snug of a fit does the visor clip offer? just wondering if it were a rollover situation if it would fly off or if you think it may stay on. Thanks
I copied this from the resqme store page to understand the window tool: "To break the window, press the black head of the tool against the corner of the window and it will release the spring-loaded spike and shatter the glass".
how many seatbelts you can cut before having to re sharpen or change the Resqme? How many windows can you break before buying a new one? Thx for the info. Cheers
I'm not sure what the silver ball is for. It will only work on tempered glass like on the side windows. The windshield is a different glass type. No, your hand wouldn't go through unless you really tried to.
I have a couple of those but never tested it. I'm wondering couldn't you have opened a car door and broken the window from the inside side then? Same thing really. Maybe turn that door you did break around so the inside faces you.
+JayXX Well, I was mainly interested in seeing the effects of the broken glass falling towards me, not necessarily questioning if the resqme would break the window from the inside.
I'm inclined to agree with zero11010. Occupant kinematics and the dramatic loads during high speed crash events (high speed is defined as any crash >10 mph) frequently see items tossed about in the vehicle. This includes items that you would typically consider secure.I use this same tool, but have elected to put it on my key ring. The ring has only the key, fob and the resqme too. It hangs sufficient low (or high if inverted) that I can reach it with either hand.Just my 2 cents worth.
It is amazing how tough tempered glass can be. I carry a glass punch with me at work just for that reason, though it is a different style than the Resqme.
id recommend putting it in the glovebox or the center console because in an accident it will go flying off the visor and you might not be able to find or reach it
On the package (Resqme keychain), it states that the glass breaker is good for several usage. Does anyone know how many times this spring loaded g.breaker will function before it becomes useless? I recently got one and I wanted to test it out (on a partly busted replaced window that's in my garage)... but if it only works few times, I'd rather save it for when it really needs to be deployed.
Does the Resqme work if the window is partially open (1/3 down)? Will it work from the outside on a rear side window if a child or dog is left in a hot car? You mentioned you buy them in bulk, do you sell them also or do you suggest just buying from Amazon? Thanks.
just a comment, when you mount the resqme tool on the visor, be sure to put it right or left of the visor, then your head or face won't come in contact if you should ever have an collision. (second impact).
+TheUrbanPrepper. I saw struggling a bit when taking of the keychain lanyard. Im wondering if in a situation would an injured person be able deploy it with ease. Keep up the great content sir. Thank you.
So do you have to puncture the glass a few time? Cause seems like you have massive amounts of glass remaining in the window. Also, you said you may not be able to use the hammer to break the window... but somehow you plan on climbing out the window. No hate just thought it didn't quite make sense.
Good point. I guess I don't know enough about car windows to notice when the whole window is shattered vs just a part of it. But I notice after re-watching (I think)
These are top quality safety devices which are affordable enough to duplicate on house and car keys or to secure in one's preferred location within their vehicles. Retaining one on one's house keys means that it is always available if needed to gain access to a vehicle in an emergency. Interesting, informative and entertaining channel with good presentation and narration from the knowledgeable and personable owner. Subscribed.
I am very skeptical that the seatbelt cutter would work while in that visor clip, hope and pray your not in an emergency and panicking trying to get that thing out with your blood covered hands. Assuming the thing didn't fly off the visor due to the force of the impact
I would worry about manipulating such a small tool under a stressful situation. I have the hammer type rescue tool in my car. I like the idea of a long handle to hold on to, in case adrenaline or nerves get the best of me.
+Cyclops Triceratops Definitely something to consider. Maybe adding a paracord lanyard would help with holding it? I like that I don't have to swing anything. Just press and apply a little force.
The hammers work well as long as you're not submerged in water (one of the situations most likely to cause panic/want to get out of the vehicle quickly). You also need a adequate swing distance & force adjacent to the window you're trying to break (something you may not have if the car is crushed or you're injured). The spring-loaded tools work in any scenario where you can reach a window.
Is it one use only? I've been watching a lot of "Adventures with Purpose" on YT. They are a team of divers who clean up lakes and rivers of old cars on the bottom. They occasionally search for missing person. It's amazing , and sometimes sad, to learn how many people commit suicide that way. What worse is they just disappear and the families have no idea whatever happened to them. Anyway I bought one of these because where I live there are a lot of rivers and lakes and I realized I had no "escape plan" THANK YOU !
Thinking about getting one. One time I was coming home from work at 10 pm and my drive was 2 hours. I got tired and flipped the car so to get out I punched through the window and had to get a brace for my hands and stitches
wow i was not expecting that little thing to have that much of an affect but personally i would prefer the big hammer due to the possibility of not having the patients or dexterity in a car crash or car related accident
also i never made it out to vulcan but nella is in the sodo district on 4th ave. i think next to the jack in the box? my friend got his knife sharpened there so im going to try them out
Putting that on the visor is not a great idea. You should relocate them to under the seat or securely fastened near the front of the seat or out of sight.
Hi There, Thanks for such an important video. One question though: Will it break a Laminated Glass in the same way? In case not, is there a similar tool designed to break Laminated Glasses?
I'm surprised how well the glass broke. Someone gave me one of those "rescue me" and I tested it on a rear view mirror : it barely made a dent in the mirror. Now I'm not sure what to think. Maybe I had a chinese knock off or the mirror was too hard or your glass too soft ... I don't know.
+Jean-Michel Nicolas The glass needs to be punctured where the glass is held firmly (in the corner ) so if its just a small mirror & not held firmly within its frame then it won't work.....it may just chip it. It will also not work if the glass is laminated like on the windshield or rear window of a car.
+Jean-Michel Nicolas Needs "tempered glass" to work. If your car doesn't have tempered glass, it won't work. Although most of the cars have tempered glass. www.bonitaglassshoppe.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/tempered-glass.png
I just bought one of these. I don't think you need to buy the visor clip. The zip tie that comes with the basic resqme is fine for attaching it to the rearview mirror.
That cut that seat belt like buttah! That glass broke super easy, too. I have my UZi pen for glass breaking, but it might be really convenient and nice to have this for cutting the seat belt and for glass breaking, attached right there on the visor. Nice climb out the window! I should try that when I'm 8 months pregnant. ;P Great vid!!
The newer SOG Trident with the seatbelt cutter now have a glass breaker included. I have the old model in TiNi black with the seatbelt cutter, but no glass breaker that is still very nice. Also the S&W rescue knife has a seatbelt cutter and glass breaker, but is on the too heavy side (so may leave it in the center arm rest). Also at the junk yard with the door open or removed from the car break the window from the inside; you now have two videos of breaking from the outside. Maybe try a buss window from the inside to show you trying to evade the zombies ! Was at a junk yard recently and saw a couple of police cars so you can earn some points by showing the rescue of a PO. Thank you for another great video ! tjl
+Tim Lipinski Thanks for watching, Tim, and providing the additional information on the SOG. I am definitely looking forward to breaking more windows in the near future. :)
Nice review! Did you know an alternative of ResQme called autoxcape? Just found its video review from Living Survival. Interested in comparing these two different-style tools.
I keep my ResQMe tied to my steering column with a piece of paracord. If there is ever an accident I just reach under the steering column and pull! I can grab it with either hand, and the passenger can grab it too.
+resqme Thank you! It would be fun to test out the resqhammer. I'll always looking for an excuse to break another window. ;) Thanks for making such a wonderful product!
And again a really professional review :) I personally prever the rescue tool from Buck. It comes with a little sheath and I also just like how it looks.
+TheUrbanPrepper For your convenience I looked it up: It's called Buck 299 Survival Strap Cutter. The sheath is made to be attached to a visor, not only cliped on but even going all around with a velcro strap. What I really like about it is that it's made from one solid piece of Steel and you can hold it like a knife handle. There's even a hole where you can put your pinky through while cutting a strap securely without fumbleing around and no, I am not paid to say all that :D I think aftet all it's not important what specific type of rescue tool you use as long as you put it into your vehicle to protect your loved ones. Thanks for reminding us of that topic!
Thank you for watching this video of the Resqme The Original Emergency Keychain Car Escape Tool. Here is a link to the Resqme from Amazon. amzn.to/2D44zn5 . This tool should have been attached with seat belt itself. At the time of emergency anybody attached with seatbelt only!!!!
i know it's quite off topic but does anyone know of a good website to watch new movies online?
@Harrison Landen i would suggest Flixzone. You can find it on google :)

You could've break the window from inside the door if you did it on the other side. No need to be inside the car.

Call 911 first before breakage the glass if no owner present for live of animals and children.

I was very much not expecting that glass to break as well as it did. That was impressive.

wonder that sun visor clip would stay to use in emergency situation after crash
It’ll always be on the visor? I want to see a car roll and the clip staying on.
In the case of a crash there is a big chance that it will fly off its clip. I would try to attach it somehow. Good video👍🏻
Open the door and then you have access to the inside of window without getting in car am i right?
great video! I've always wondered how well these work but haven't had the means to actually test it out. 1 question though, how snug of a fit does the visor clip offer? just wondering if it were a rollover situation if it would fly off or if you think it may stay on. Thanks
Thanks for this I’ll be making my safety keychain now!
guys these things WORK. dont ask how i know lol. probably one of the coolest things you can get for 10 bucks
When I bought the resqme a while back they didn't have the visor clip. Great to see I can buy one separately.
Only works on pre-2011 vehicles.
The door was off the car. Why didn’t you break the window from the cabin side?
I copied this from the resqme store page to understand the window tool:
"To break the window, press the black head of the tool against the corner of the window and it will release the spring-loaded spike and shatter the glass".
how many seatbelts you can cut before having to re sharpen or change the Resqme? How many windows can you break before buying a new one? Thx for the info. Cheers
I'm glad you're still doing videos !
+Patrick Habinowski Thanks Patrick!
Did you make your paracord bracelet yourself or did you buy it?
ITS BEST TO KEEP ON VEHICLE KEY CHAIN. IF YOU GET INTO A CRASH IT WILL COME OFF VISOR
Was up, I found some resqme on eBay for $1.99. Are they the same as the one you have? Or they are fake? And nice video 👍
What’s that silver ball on the end do? And will it work on windshields? And can you expect your hand to go through the glass too?
Have you tested it with Cybertruck glass?
It is amazing how tough tempered glass can be. I carry a glass punch with me at work just for that reason, though it is a different style than the Resqme.
I have seen the window broken with one of these were they broke the window at the top, then the window just folded out of the vehicle.
tnks alot....tho mine was defective bcaz it ddnt look centre
How well does the visor clip grip the visor? Do u think it could fall off in a crash?
Since making this video, I have included a Resqme that is zip tied on the rear view mirror which I trust more to stay in place during crash.
id recommend putting it in the glovebox or the center console because in an accident it will go flying off the visor and you might not be able to find or reach it
I now store it on the rear view mirror using a zip tie.
I buy many and put them in separate locations in the car.
I believe it can be used over and over again without becoming "useless"
should i sharpen the seat belt cutter to make it more effective?
Does resqume work under water ???? Pls
Hey so you can Just use it one time?
That is very cool. I have these in my car but I like your visor hook
What is the metal ball thing for?
Thank you for sharing your views. Very helpful.
That entire widow shattered, next step would be to push the rest of glass out with your hands
Good point. I guess I don't know enough about car windows to notice when the whole window is shattered vs just a part of it. But I notice after re-watching (I think)
Thanks for the demo! Very helpful to see it in action 🤙🏼
I just found one at my job. Didn't know what it was so I yt it and boom, now I know lol. 👍🏾
Super late, but what about the big window? Can it break too?
If the window is laminated glass, no it will not break it.
Subscribed.
This is a very important video for everyone. Thanks for sharing.
I am very skeptical that the seatbelt cutter would work while in that visor clip, hope and pray your not in an emergency and panicking trying to get that thing out with your blood covered hands. Assuming the thing didn't fly off the visor due to the force of the impact
I can't tell what button you're pushing to launch the glass breaker. Thanks, Brendon
You just press the entire thing into the glass.
@@jackheris687 thank you.
Can i use it for example for Windows in My house?
Good video! Interesting to see how they work
Very cool video 😎👍
Checkout the victorinox rescue tool as used by fite services, a beast of a tool
+jamie Outdoors It's been on my wishlist for a while. Still haven't pulled the trigger yet. Sound like you like it?
Wonder how well it would work if car is submerged.
I got tired and flipped the car so to get out I punched through the window and had to get a brace for my hands and stitches
wow i was not expecting that little thing to have that much of an affect but personally i would prefer the big hammer due to the possibility of not having the patients or dexterity in a car crash or car related accident
also i never made it out to vulcan but nella is in the sodo district on 4th ave. i think next to the jack in the box? my friend got his knife sharpened there so im going to try them out
Hello TheUrbanPepper, do you know if this tool can be used more that once to shatter a window or used to shatter multiple windows?
I've used this tool on a few vehicle with no problems. I wonder if there is a maximum times it could reliably be used?
Putting that on the visor is not a great idea. You should relocate them to under the seat or securely fastened near the front of the seat or out of sight.
Great work. Excellent video. Awesome tool.
Wow, that thing is pretty cool and small. Ive seen them but not ever seen them being used and thought it was kind of a gimmick. But its no joke! Cool.
+traderjoes It's definitely no joke. I was super impressed with how both features performed.
TheUrbanPrepper Thanks for the reply!
Hi There,
Thanks for such an important video. One question though: Will it break a Laminated Glass in the same way? In case not, is there a similar tool designed to break Laminated Glasses?
No, it will not break laminated glass.
@@jackheris687 A li’l too early to reply? 😁
I need to a couple of those! I've had similar tools in the past but they seem really good! Great video!
+Joe Betts Thanks for watching, Joe! They sure to perform well.
+Jean-Michel Nicolas The front rear windows are coated so they won't shatter like that. You have to break the side windows.

I just bought one of these. I don't think you need to buy the visor clip. The zip tie that comes with the basic resqme is fine for attaching it to the rearview mirror.
+Everything There Is That works too!
+Armed Rogue Thanks AR! No, please don't try it until after the baby has arrived! :)
+ArthurKanzler Nice strategy, Arthur!
Nicely done. Thanks and we'll have to send you our newest product - the resqhammer, the Ultimate Escape Tool.
+resqme Thank you! It would be fun to test out the resqhammer. I'll always looking for an excuse to break another window. ;) Thanks for making such a wonderful product!
And again a really professional review :)
I personally prever the rescue tool from Buck. It comes with a little sheath and I also just like how it looks.
+Phil Herb Nice. It would be cool to see it in action. I'll need to take a look at it.
There's even a hole where you can put your pinky through while cutting a strap securely without fumbleing around and no, I am not paid to say all that :D
I think aftet all it's not important what specific type of rescue tool you use as long as you put it into your vehicle to protect your loved ones.
Thanks for reminding us of that topic!
+Phil Herb It's always so nice to notice you overread a mistake (aftet) before posting a comment ;)
What’s the shiny ball point that looks like a Beebee pellet on the back of the ResQme for?
Nexus ModelBuilds that is the glass breaker
adiaz2469, so both sides can be used to break the glass?
