What's this? A prepper video with actual data and rational solutions? Thank goodness TUP is back!! 🍻
Seriously. I unsubbed for all the other big guys. All they do is post doom porn and promise the end of the world every day.
I know right. Having Cliff back is great.
This is the urban prepper we have come to love
🎉
He’s the BEST❗️
Great to see you back Cliff. I hope this is the first of many videos.
Thanks for tuning in, my friend! I have another one scheduled for next week.
I’m so glad to see you’re back, I keep doing big prepper channels turn into the end of the world is coming channels. When it should be teaching people how to be prepared and why they should be.
I'm so sorry to hear your father in law had to experience this. Pleased he got his vehicle back. What a wonderful thing you did, donating the things to charity. Great video as ever, Cliff.
Recently watched a TH-cam video in which 3 Brits were able to get through all wheel locking devices in seconds, including the expensive wheel cover device. Another video showed the steering wheel is still operational, so the car can still be driven. Surprisingly enough, the cheapest deterrent was a small switch which can be mounted and easily hidden and then acts as a kill switch.
Nice! I'd like to check that video out.
The video is “Trying to steal a car with Anti Theft Products” by Overdrive. I’ll try to find the other video where a guy has the wheel cover device installed and shows how the wheels of his car still move, which I assume means it’s drivable.
@@susanweider5907 @theurbanprepper Good video that, but the disk device they use is a cheap knockoff. It looks like the actual Disklok is designed to solve for the drill method they used. This video has a couple Brits (hilariously!) try to get past an actual Disklok... which they do, after a LOT of trouble and noise. They decide it's the best deterrent (which is the most you can hope for) , although only one of them feels it's the best bang for the buck th-cam.com/video/4H0OG990bgY/w-d-xo.html I'm getting one!
Simple, Smart and effective! Real world solutions to real world problems. Whilst I enjoy prepping for the end of the world, I do like things that are more grounded in reality. Glad to see you back making to the prepping game more down to earth and my wife less likely to roll her eyes when I suggest she watch a video about prepping.
Thank you SO much, Jacob! I really appreciate these kind words. I'm glad that you enjoy my style of preparedness videos.
It may not be a solution for newer cars (I don't know if something like that would affect electronics), but what my dad used to do was to create a bypass for the ignition with a 3.5mm audio socket on that bypass. The socket would be mounted somewhere under the dash. Doesn't have to be super hidden. From a distance, it just looks like a screw or something. Then he would have an audio jack with both channels soldered together so once the jack was inserted into the socket, it completed the circuit. I know for a fact that it stopped at least one attempt to steal his car. Thieves can learn how to defeat commercially available solutions. They won't know how to defeat something that was completely custom made.
My dad used to have several similar methods on the old vehicles. However, in the mid-80s and up, there were more and more electronic sensors installed in cars. This made it harder to disable and reenable without start-up issues.
@@robertogomez3698you'd need an decent tech whiz to pull that off nowadays...
The only problem with the Apple Air tag is that it allows users to turn it off from unwanted tracker. Meaning if the thief has an iPhone the thief will get a notification he is being tracked and receive the option to turn the air tag off. I guess what you can do is also include a Samsung tag as a redundant tag in the same compartment along with the airtag.
Keep them coming. I want to spend my money on Emergency Preparedness.
Will do!
It's not spending, it's investing!
Still can’t believe someone stole a vehicle at your house. Hope all is well Cliff!
Important video. It is so good to see you making videos again. Anytime I go from where I live toward any city I am very aware that my level of safety is going down.
Thanks! It feels good to post videos again after a long break.
I enjoy watching your mind work through the problems boss. Always interesting.
Awesome! Thank you!
Good to see you back. Thanks for the great info. Passing it on to family!
EXCELLENT Video - as always! It's good to see you back.
Great info, thank you for sharing! Where I live there are multiple thefts both from the home or by gunpoint while people are driving. My biggest fear is if my dog is in the car with me, they can have my car but I want my dog.
Wow! Yeah, that is happening where I live too. I have another view planned for that.
So, are you really back? I'm so happy! Finally good content in survalism again out here 😅
Yep! More videos are on the way.
Thanks for all the info and helpful suggestions!
This is so great thank you for coming back!
Wow, I did not realize the extent some people have go in order to protect their car from theft. Thanks for the video, great resources here.
Thanks for watching and commenting, Robert!
Great video. Packed with info and solutions to problems. Great to have you back
Thank you for watching, Lamont!
Welcome back, I really enjoy your videos and all of the practical applications. Thank You.
Thank you so much!
You can always take that phone and put it behind the interior plastics, and hardwire the charger to the car. Then you wouldn't have to worry about a thief finding it, if for whatever reason they steal your honda pilot. That would also remove the need for the battery pack, since the charger would be powered 24/7.
Great video Cliff! Very informative!
Awsome tips as usual! keep them coming!
I'm so glad you're back!
Thank you! Getting some preventatives.
WHOO HOO, TUP IS BACK‼️And what a great video filled with your usual solid information. Thank you❗️
Thank you so much!
Smart and informative. Glad to see you back on here!
Thank you very much!
Another great video! So happy to see you back on YT!!
It's good to be back!
Really great info on this one. Great to have a Prepping Channel on TH-cam providing insightful, actionable information again.
Great video as always, just a note on the redundancy airtag there are loads of videos that show you how to disable it from making a noise which would make it harder still for it to be located. Thought that might be interesting for you to know.
All the best from Edinburgh, Scotland 😊
Good to know! Thanks!
Good to see you back and a very useful video.
Great information. Thanks for sharing.
Great valuable information. Thank you. Also, I'm glad you're back.
Thanks for watching. It feels good to post again.
This is exactly why Cliff is the Legend! Gr8 video brother!
Keep'em coming!
Thank you so much, Tao!
urban prepping! i love it 😎
As usual excellent presentation!
So, so, so glad you’re back. Glad you took care of yourself but we sorely missed you!
Very helpful video Cliff!
Thank you so much for this video
Glad to see you are back, Missed your informative videos.
Thank you, Thomas!
Yay Cliff!!! Your channel is awesome.
Awesome research! Thanks!
Awesome video thanks👍
Great to see you back with videos
I have more on the way!
Nice work got everything covered 🎉
Thank you!
Glad to see you back! There's a home security system called Yolink that uses LoRa technology (basically long range wireless, range is a couple hundred yards) I saw a video where the guy hooked one of their vibration sensors to his car so it would alert if the car was started. Obviously only works when he's at home but it's another layer of security.
Welcome back. Great information.
Thank you so much for watching!
Clif - You are the Best!!! Always the most thorough videos for every topic you present. Thank you!!!!
Thank you so much, Kathleen.
Practical advice. I’m looking forward to it!
Thanks Chris!
Excellent
Cliff you are the man, thank you for the new ideas
Thank you so much!
Really good video that related to real life urban surviving situation❤
Thanks Cliff. Didn't know about the FOB relays.
I didn't either until fairly recently.
Thanks so much for this great video! I was feeling pretty complacent about my subaru because it uses the keyfob. I have never heard of the relay attack!!
I'm glad that you enjoyed the video, Patricia!
Great video. I am going to look into the steering wheel cover for my classic car.
Nice! I'm glad that you found it helpful.
I usually take the steering wheel off and stash it in my briefcase, I also had professionally installed a padlock on the driver's side door. I drive a old school mini with over pressurized windshield washers. I also keep a small brick for cruise control and self defense.
Wow! That's awesome!
I get that the box is effective in blocking the key fob signal however I think storing it near the front door is a bit careless. If it was me I’d put the box as far away from the front door as possible. Preferably in my bedroom inside the night table drawer.
Thank you, great content!
Welcome back! Missed you!
It's good to be back!
I like the Optimus gps tracker. It connects wherever cell service is available and provides real time tracking. It can operate for over a month on a charge or you could add a power bank like in your cell phone example.
Nice!
Great video
Great tips !
I'm glad that you liked them, Joe!
Yay back with the videos and the pdfs!! I was so curious to see this because I knew you were going to talk about the wheel club thing and I remember when everybody had a red one, then I heard they weren’t that great and couldn’t remember why and that must’ve been it that people can cut right through them. We recently had trouble where one of our vehicles (didn’t happen at home) had to be repaired because somebody tried to take the catalytic converter. Not sure what to do about that other than be careful where you park I guess. One question - if they don’t like the GPS is it maybe worth putting stickers on the car that say equipped with tracking or something like that? Thanks for making these videos and pdfs again!!
Nice to see you back! FYI, the link to the BRAKE LOCK sends you to the Steering wheel lock.
Thanks for the heads up! I'll get that fixed tonight
Don't over think a faraday cage. Most metals will do since skin effect is measured in micrometers. An old cookie tin from christmas, the beloved altoids tin work great. Check school supply area for the mesh baskets for lockers, if they are metal then 5 out of six sides are protected. So if they are right above (say in the bedroom above the front door) then maybe then can get the keyfob.
a long time ago, I saw the movie "Enemy of the State" and they used a potato chip bag to block out all signals from cell phones, etc. I tried it on different occasions and it works. I have personally used tea bag packages with aluminum lining to block out RFID signals for cards.
Right! Cliff showed a Faraday bag in which he put 3 phones. They were fine once inside the secured bag but rang per usual once outside.. on October 4th. We did old school: turned phones off, double wrapped them in aluminum foil and put them and a small iPad in a galvanized steel bucket with tight fitting lid. Problem solved. Never received the EAS signal o4 warning. Of course we kept one phone activated outside the bin.
Thanks Wombat, for the tip. My car got stolen last week and on my video footage they stole it by using my key fob signal. I wanted to buy those Farady things from Amazon but they got low ratings. Altoid tins are low tech and super smart, and I have a bunch laying around!
great video and great ideas. thanks. only improvement comment is to put amazon links for the products you mentioned in the video description.
One of the best video's for everyday life today that you've made . Yeah, end of the world is coming,. Been told that since I was a kid being shown doomsday films at church. I'll probably be dead way b4 the world ends anyway, but how to survive NOW?? Thank you for your "down to earth", simply common sense approach !
Trust God to and deliver you is number one.
Someone on my local Nextdoor had their car stolen while it was running unattended, and anyone commenting “you shouldn’t leave your car running unattended” was shouted down for “victim blaming” 🤦♂️
I like the apple tag idea and the key faraday box . All the other ideas are a waste of money Great video!
Good video, thanks for sharing, God bless !
Thank you so much for watching.
I use a hidden switch to the fuel pump on some of my vehicles. I just turn off the switch when I leave the vehicle.
another excellent informative no drama video
Thank you so much!
Great information and methods to prevent vehicle theft!! If I can add a simple advice which seems like common knowledge but always double check to see if your vehicle is locked. I work security at a hospital and the most common way thefts around where I work happen is criminals checking the door handle to see if someone forgot to lock there car. A lot (not all) criminals are lazy and they try and go with the path of least resistance.
I started doing this one time I realized the actuator on the passenger door began malfunctioning, and then every door but mine followed along. Even after replacing them I kept checking them before leaving the car...
Thank you. Kids live up in Washington. My cars are parked on the street. Was worried of this type of theft.
loved this one
Thank you for watching!!
Daaaaayum, I actually learned something new!
Nice!!
Great video! Useful info. Thank you. A friend of mine had their car stolen using the relay method. Ironically the thief abandoned the car on my street.
Thanks! Yeah, the relay attack was a new one that I only recently heard about.
Good video, next home security?
Would love to know more about the burner phones idea
I am LEO from New York. Crime is out of control here to. We are moving to Maine in when I retire. Maybe you should consider a move. You can change your name to the The Maine Rural Prepper.
We've been talking about it too! It's crazy out here!
The vehicle theft reminds me of the 1980s and 1990s.
Good video. I’d remove the speaker from the AirTag though. Unscrew the back and pop it off
No need to worry with a chipped physical key. Keyless and none chipped is easy. I see you have an elment which is a cat theft target. At least you have a chipped key tho. Great video
Here's one: Only buy cars that have physical keys, the wireless ones can easily have their signal boosted from your keychain in your house enough for a thief to just open the driver's door and drive off with your car. It happened to Ross Patterson (Of Drinkinbros podcast) to his Ford Raptor that was subsequently used to ferry illegal immigrants around then it was dumped in a river.
Also only buy cars with manual transmissions, every day less and less car thieves know how to drive stick. I'll bet you hard cash that 99.99% of the Kias and Hyundais stolen by the "Kia Boys" didn't have manual transmissions.
I bought key fob faraday bags for all my key fobs. If I’m not driving, they’re tucked away. I know it’s not 100 fox, but it’s a little extra security.
Can you get a vehicle these days with no keyless entry? I don't know of any but assuming there are, there can't be too many options right?
Seems unavoidable if seeking a new vehicle.
My truck the fob never leaves my pocket but the van (love papaps van, rip) is marked safe from modern luxuries 😉.
@@trowhammerdespoilerofgalax2423 There are a surprisingly large amount of them still left.
That being said I think a manual transmission is a greater car theft deterrent, though it won't stop anyone from stealing the stuff in your car.
@@trowhammerdespoilerofgalax2423 make sure you line your pocket with a Faraday bag, small enough to protect your FOB signals. You never know who is in the parking lot trying to pick up signals.
In Australia its mandatory for all vehicles to have a immobilizer installed. Only way to take a car is with its keys.
Having and immobilizer won't do anything against the relay attack, and conveniently the majority of cars that have immobilizers are the same ones that thieves would use the relay attack on anyway.
@@Kevin15673 Your correct but in this video the car was Hot-wired and Immobilizer would prevent that.
Hi Cliff
I work with tires and do not recommend emptying your car tires for a few or several days this would most likely damage your tires.
Not tonight kitten...daddy needs to go under cars with his saw
God bless.
Hey TUP sorry to hear about it ❤ listening yeah can only delay them more and make it a hard target . Ive heard about the relay things years back. Proof that faragates help beyond EMP :) Yes I heard that word twice take CaRe
Thanks for watching and commenting! It's good to see you again.
Too bad about your dad's Jeep.. thankfully he was able to get it back. Thanks for the video
Thank you Cliff for letting me know about the faraday box for car keys. I ordered one and had it delivered this morning from Amazon because ironically last night two people pulled up and got out of a car and tried my car door handles, I heard the noise and looked out the window. That’s when they ran back into their car and sped off. I guess they thought that the car doors was going to be unlocked. I already have LoJack, an AirTag, and Hyundai Bluelink as trackers already. So, if they decide to return and want to try to clone the keys, they will be out of luck and probably have a little more waiting for them!!!
Nice! I hope that stay away from your vehicle, Sean!
@@TheUrbanPrepper thanks, I work too hard for what I have!!!
Hey Urban prepper! Put Urban Prepper stickers on your Hondas! The thief are watching your videos too and now knowing all the steps you took they simply just go-to your irresponsible neighbor!!😂 hey also, starting your car and quickly shutting it down isn't good for the car. All things considered thank you for a new vid. I'm from NYC originally so having a club on steering wheel is a no Brainerd for me but my wife won't use it :() also I got a remote start from best but guys and even though i use start rarely now as i changed job and I'm always close to my car I do use GPS tracking that came with it quite a lot. It gets built in to cars system all wired and then you would use an app called mobile drone to locate your car (also very helpful to navigate back to it! We got lost a few times and either the car was lost on the parking lot or we were hiking and needed to get back to it) so GPS feature is good. Though it's a paid service. So hey tell Oregon thief yo freaking get a job already and work hard to earn money like we all do!!!
LOL!! I might need to do that. ;)
If i want to watch doom and gloom news that is out of our control and frankly wont ever happen anyway, ill watch CNN and Fox and the big prepping channels. Sadly the sheep follow that nonsense. If i want ACTUAL helpful knowledge on being prepared for real life scenarios, channals like yours are gold. Keep em coming, Cliff.
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words, Kevin. I really appreciate it.
@@TheUrbanPrepper no problem brother. Stay strapped, stay prepared with things that actually matter, not the world doom and gloom bs and stay in prayer. That's my philosophy. Nothing else matters. God bless.
Will deflating tires for an extended time break the bead seal?
Place 1 kilo of Semtex or c4
Under the driving seat with a 3 minute timer which starts when the engine starts ( unless a hidden switch is flicked prior to starting. )
Thief is then blown to pieces along with any of his passengers ..🙂
This prevents the Thief from re offending .
I leave a starving spitting cobra in my car for additional protection. The faraday box was smart.
While such quick theft is very concerning the worst part is that it happens a lot.
Yep. Way too often.
LoRa even has less power consumption than a phone, but it is more work to setup.
I'll check it out!
