You can tell how much Addie wants to watch this just by the sound of her voice. She's using the super smile voice lmao. Someone could blindfold you and you'd still be able to tell she's smiling. These two movies are some of the most wholesome and fun ever made. Merry Christmas everyone!
When you said you liked the first I knew you would like this. It's everything that was beloved about the first but they just go bigger with it. Done right. More filmmakers should mind that simple approach when it comes to sequels.
The scene of Marv getting electrocuted is still one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen, just the screams he makes when the skeleton is on screen 😂😂😂
There's a video where a trauma surgeon rates all the injuries from the movie (or was it Home Alone?). There are some choice facial expressions in that video.
Little known fact: The McAlester family lost one family member between movies. The daughter who said “You're what the French call les incompenent.” She is the only cast member from the family in the first movie who didn’t return for the sequel.
I remember when this movie was released. It made the TalkBoy the gift to have for Christmas that year. The full-out bare knuckle fights in stores that broke out over it.
@aealum2004 Yeah, I was given one for my birthday a couple of months later. The stores were empty. It was all over the news. It was like in '85 when My Buddy and Kid Sister hit the stores.
I love how Marv and Harry remembered the paint can trap only to be smacked down by the pipe. Like they were doing so well up until that moment lol Btw, i love your impression of Harry's gibberish Addie
This one is just as entertaining as the original. I got a good laugh from Kevin scaring away the concierge with his Talkboy recording of his Uncle Frank singing "Cool Jerk" in the shower and getting mad at him, using his inflatable Bozo the Clown. *EDIT* I also enjoyed the part where Skele-Marv gets electrocuted. BTW, nice headband.
The part when the big noisy toolchest falls down the stairs and squishes them against the wall is the most unbelievable. Anyone else would have gotten Away from the door!
25:30 - I've been shot with a staple gun in the shoulder, when I was a kid. It bloody hurt...and the nurse had quite a time pulling it out, but after a few minutes of pain and some disinfectant, it was fine. On a lighter note, Marv getting electrocuted is one of the finest pieces of acting I've seen - great job Daniel Stern!
The family was asking for trouble by only relying on the parents alarm clock to wake them up. Obviously no-one else bothered to set an alarm and expected mum and dad to wake their lazy butts.
If real-world physics applied to this franchise, the bricks to the head would have actually smashed his skull into about 400 pieces. Assuming the building was 40ft (3 or 4 stories) and the brick weighed 4 pounds, it would have a momentum of about 437 pound-miles/hour.
@@crawdaddy1234 there are full breakdowns by doctors on TH-cam going through each injury from both movies showing just how deadly most of these things are
Addie you crack me up. *"It sounds like you're about to kill someone!"* 😂😂 I can hear it now... *That deep voice calling the Plaza Hotel:* "Howdy-do, this is the New York Strangler, the faaaaather. I'd like a hotel room to choke some people in please.. With a queen size bed & a Do Not Disturb sign. Credit card? No prooooooblem..." ☠☠🤣🤣
10:23 The Don used to allow movie studios to film at his hotels , only payment received is that he might be in the movie. Zoolander is another film he did that for. He even does this for scenes that don't make the movie. Interesting bit
Even if you disregard all other traps, Kevin killed both Harry and Marv: He electrocuted Marv He blew up Harry Kevin's quite the sadistic little "innocent" boy. And we all love him for it 😀
Now I guess you need to watch “The Good Son,” “My Girl,” and “Uncle Buck” if you’ve never seen those, to get the full young Macaulay Culkin experience.
It is the same but different. In the first film the traps were more basic as it was his own home but this time it was a home under renovation. His traps could be more advanced as the workers tools were still there. The home had a lot of holes and "damage" already which could be used to his advantage since it was still a work in progress. Technically they didn't need to go after Kevin. they had the money and should have just ran. They did it to themselves by wanting revenge. The camera shouldn't have mattered much to them as they were already in the papers as escaped criminals and just have to move location again
24:49 It wouldn’t just hurt, it would kill him. I think he has about five that are thrown directly at his face from about five stories up? Yes, he would be completely dead. Without a doubt.
I'm biased towards this one just a bit... Born and raised on Long Island so there were many MANY trips to the city during the holiday season. Never ran into the then owner of the Plaza Hotel though. We did spend a lot of time in the original FAO Schwarz which the toy shop in this movie is pretty obviously a stand in for. (The real thing is in Big. And closed but they opened a new location where the tree is in Rockefeller Center.)
Buzz - Devin Ratray - plays a supporting role in a film called Blue Ruin (2013). This has nothing to do with Christmas or Home Alone, I just think you should watch Blue Ruin
Harry & Marv survive a horrific amount of punishment in HA2, making their suffering in the first look like nothing. The bricks alone should have 😵 Marv and Harry probably would have gone in the kerosene explosion centered on his head.🤕
Great movie. The scene where the guy get electrcated and turn into a skeleton is so funny I always crack up by this scene. You can also watch Rainder Games an underated action Christmas movie.
Yeah it's basically a copy and paste of the original, but it's still fun with great NYC Christmas vibes.. you can't top the original, but the sequel is a classic in its own right..
Rare time the sequel destroys the original (Temple of Doom, T2, Aliens, Catching Fire and Batman Returns being the biggest examples). Love Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Yes, there are similarities to the original, but it expands upon them. The jokes are funnier, the setting is grand and the traps are BRUTAL. BTW, love the face when you saw soon-to-be President Felon. 😂
Hi Addie!😊 They did a good job in this film sticking with what worked so well in the first film. Definitely stay away from the rest of sequels. They are not good. Great reactions to your 2nd Home Alone experience, Addie!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!!🎄1⃣
Theres a video on youtube you can look up that analysis all the damage Kevin did to them in both movies and how many time he would have killed them. Also if you havent watches VIOLENT NIGHT theres a pretty awesome scene that pays tribute to Home Alone in a more realistic way
Those old clocks had a socket in the bottom for a 9 volt battery. If there was a battery they could maintain the time in the event of a power outage. I don’t know anyone who actually bothered to put the battery in however.
It's only to maintain the clock's memory in case of an outage, so when the power comes back on, the time will still be correct. It doesn't still power the face, like modern battery backup clocks.
It has been said that Trump demanded a cameo in this film for the right to film in the Plaza. While I believe it MAY have been a condition for filming there, he disputes it, saying that the filmmakers were eager for his participation. Given his positive reputation in pop culture at the time, this position is also very plausible.
The first two are the best! Fox could've stopped at 2, but nope! They had to go ahead and make more, and thus it went downhill from Home Alone 3 onward. 3 is a REMAKE, 4 and 5, while they involve Kevin, are just not as good as the first two, and Home Sweet Home Alone (which was Disney's attempt at another Home Alone movie) is just not worth the watch, even if Buzz cameos in it. Not even he could save the film from sucking. Trust me when I say stick with the first two Home Alones every Holiday season. Hell, the third one isn't even a Christmas movie! The kid in that film is absent from school! Everyone knows schools are closed for the Holidays!
When he bought it it was known as "The Greatest Hotel in the World." It took "the Don" only seven years to nearly *bankrupt* it. That's why he sold it.

“Funny enough we never lose our luggage”. My wife and I have seen this movie a million times and still crack up at that line every time.

Marv is the absolute MVP "Scream King" 😀
The brick scene is one of my all time favourites 🤣
The first time I saw that part, I nearly peed my pants lol it's just too funny
Kevin had pretty good aim. He hit Marv every time.
As kids we wore out the VHS replaying that scene.
I just love how Harry and marv are immortal like so much head trauma
There's a video where a trauma surgeon rates all the injuries from the movie (or was it Home Alone?). There are some choice facial expressions in that video.
I love the video on here that details what actual injuries they would sustain. They die a combined 14 times in these two movies! 🤣
Marv yelling SUCK BRICK KID! is my favorite part 😂 gets me every time 😂

How the crap did the blow up clown that was in his bag in Florida magically appear in the hotel room in NY?
They went full Tom and Jerry and turned Kevin into Jigsaw.

Tim Curry is an absolute genius in this movie! Just like every movie he works on❤
The way he exclaims "Bingo!" just after the Grinch comparison, and the light behind/above him, lights up. Always cracked me up.
There is a theory that Kevin McCallister from Home Alone is the origin story of Jigsaw from the Saw films. I can see it with his elaborate traps.
It's a stupid theory seeing as how Jigsaw is atleast 20 years older than Kevin.
