Annette is such a talent, I loved her in that iconic 90's film "American Beauty." I must admit, I was taken aback at seeing her now. Not many women in Hollywood are aging gracefully and naturally these days.
Awww wow, I loved her sincerity and the depth of how emotional it will be to see her daughter's Broadway debut. Seth, we don't say it enough, good on you to know about this upcoming milestone and even more so for so wonderfully posing the question teeing up this response.
Annette Bening and Jodie Foster are extraordinary in Nyad, I'm so glad they received Academy Award nominations. These two women are such role models showing people how to age gracefully in the public eye
still working? she's only in her 60's...not very enlightened for a woman's comment. Jane Fonda and Lilly are in their 80's working as well as Martha Stewart
Annette Bening is such a great actor! It seems like that's because she's also a great person. Acting isn't a normal job, but it's real work to learn about other people's lives and emotions, really understand them, then reproduce all of that for the camera. Theatre and stories are how we stay civilised, and survive as a species. Her Hasty Pudding award in a way acknowledges that the STEM subjects also need some theatre to stay connected to humanity.
I have always been a fan of Annette Bening. Had no clue she dated Ed Begley, Jr. My opinion of Warren Beatty increased exponentially when she and he got together. Love how Seth is with the established actresses (Christine Baranski comes to mind) - he is always really interested in making sure things are not awkward and that they are comfortable.
I wouldn't ask if I hadn't tried to find out the information myself but I just saw Annette's appearance at last year's Oscars w/o Warren Beatty by her side. I wonder if his health is failing if anyone knows, thank you.
The ping-pong scene in Nyad with her and Jodie Foster was when it hit me how good they both were, so natural, nothing forced about the lines, the scene flowed. Obviously good editing helped, but without their performance, there would have been nothing to edit
My sister and I were snorkeling in the ocean and were extremely angry someone had littered small plastic bags, only to quickly realize they were jellyfish and we had to swim our butts off to the shore.
Why did she just sit there when Joy's excuse for wearing blackface was she was celebrating "beautiful black women?" I hope they know they'd be complete hypocrites if anyone else wants to sport blackface for whatever excuse they want to dream up for doing it? Hypocritical cowards all those ladies on THE VIEW who said NOTHING because of that ole battle-ax!!!
What a great interview with an incredibly talented actress. I have always liked Annette Bening's acting in so many great movies. Nice that Seth mentioned "The Grifters" which is a great movie if you have not seen it.
So Karl and I decided to go to Moultonborough NH on holiday coz it’s always great to travel with someone exactly like yourself, in fact someone who could be your yin-yang doppelgänger mirror-image repressed side, (but definitely not that phucked-up schitt inner-child horse-hockey!) So we hire a minivan with surround sound and played Ray LaMontagne’s ‘God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise’ on repeat at 500 decibels the whole way and grew beards like him and wore bashed top hats and tried to look as soulful and vaguely depressed like him, coz Karl says that “Ray is an unappreciated genius” and that his song ‘Such a Simple Thing’ is up there with Bob Frost: ‘Tell me what you're feeling I can take the pain Tell me that you mean it That you won't leave again Tell me what your heart wants Such a simple thing My heart is like paper Yours is like a flame I can't make you see If you don't by now I'll get through these changes Somehow, somehow.’ And I say, Karl…if you think that that banal soppy drivel is up there with Robert Frost, then I’m there with you coz I know you that you grew up in that wacko hippy ‘Dancing Bones’ community in Wentworth NH forests with your mother named ‘Sasquatch’ and your dad named ‘Dancing Bear’, and that mushroom, lime and turmeric cordial you make from there rocks my palate like a canoe on Lake Winnipesaukee on a windy day in October, so tell me more of the genius of Ray LaMontagne as we drive on this LSD trip to nowhere….
Seth talks as if he doesn't realize the difference between swimming in the sea and swimming in a pool. Also, as an ex swimmer myself, I just don't see America giving an Oscar about a woman swimmer, but who knows.
She’s very articulate and intelligent and a great storyteller. She looks great. She’s given us some terrific performances besides the five Oscar nominated ones (“20th Century Women” and “Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool”). She’s lived a great life and raised some beautiful children. I’d say what happened to her? She’s been living.
It is so refreshing to see a famous actress grow old naturally. She looks terrific and is obviously a wonderful person.
Annette Being are you actually a lesbian. I've seen your movie. Siege. I was on the terrorist side. I hope they win. I'm on Bin Laden's side..
I am in 💕 love with you Annette Being.

Omgosh! You "must admit" you were "taken aback" is as big of an insult as it gets, no matter what they look like!
What a beautiful Oscar’s story & what a class act to have a celebratory lunch together for all them
The Daytime Lead Actress nominees does it every year. The winner former the previous year has to host.
Awww wow, I loved her sincerity and the depth of how emotional it will be to see her daughter's Broadway debut. Seth, we don't say it enough, good on you to know about this upcoming milestone and even more so for so wonderfully posing the question teeing up this response.
American President is still one of my fav movies.
Mine, too:).
Annette Bening and Jodie Foster are extraordinary in Nyad, I'm so glad they received Academy Award nominations. These two women are such role models showing people how to age gracefully in the public eye
She is absolutely gorgeous and so down to earth. I'm obsessed with her movies right now. 😂 She was robbed of the NYAD Oscar!
Love her too.
What a classy lady.
She is a wonderful actress. I hope she finally wins Oscar.
I think we've got the actress for an Elizabeth Warren biopic!
I was thinking the same thing.
So glad she’s still working! Such a talent!

Which is why it's now STEAM. 👏😊🎵 🎭 🎨 🎶
I love that Oscars story. John Oliver should do that after the Emmys next year.
I have heard two other actresses in that category in 1990 relay that story and it always gets me everytime.
Annette is a class act. ❤

NYAD is such an incredible movie!! What a wonderful actress, it isn't an easy role to play...
The ping-pong scene in Nyad with her and Jodie Foster was when it hit me how good they both were, so natural, nothing forced about the lines, the scene flowed. Obviously good editing helped, but without their performance, there would have been nothing to edit
Love her and her Oscar story!
Yup, she gets to play Sen. Warren in the movie about our age.
I thought she was Senator Warren! 😅🤣
*luv her, luv this interview! (both segments)*
A Great Talent!
She shared the story on The View. The other nominees were Lorraine Bracco, Mary McDonnell and...
Woah!!! I’ve had jellyfish stings across my face and neck, and now I’m hearing about this suit!!!
great interview....
Seth is enamored of her. Fine interview! She has 4 kids! Wow!
Happy birthday annette from italian boy live in rome
She should have won that Oscar!!!
Lol I could have sworn this was Elizabeth Warren for a solid 3 seconds
Nyad a good movie. Simple story. But well done.
Good viewing.👍🏽
Shes still beautiful
Ed's Electric Car was my favorite college improv group.
My sister and I were snorkeling in the ocean and were extremely angry someone had littered small plastic bags, only to quickly realize they were jellyfish and we had to swim our butts off to the shore.
Elizabeth Warren?
And still love Whoopi Goldberg's sweater.
She always looks like she just crawled out of bed.
The Toyata RAV4? Had one.....💖
I can't stand Whoopi on the view but you hear a lot of nice stories like this about her behind the scenes.
Why did she just sit there when Joy's excuse for wearing blackface was she was celebrating "beautiful black women?" I hope they know they'd be complete hypocrites if anyone else wants to sport blackface for whatever excuse they want to dream up for doing it? Hypocritical cowards all those ladies on THE VIEW who said NOTHING because of that ole battle-ax!!!
is she wearing Warren's jacket when she left the house and forgot to take it off?!
Wow. Did a double take on that thinking it was Elizabeth Warren. Let's have a biopic starring Annette!
Oh my... She's dressing different now!

‘Tell me what you're feeling
I can take the pain
Tell me that you mean it
That you won't leave again
Tell me what your heart wants
Such a simple thing
My heart is like paper
Yours is like a flame
I can't make you see
If you don't by now
I'll get through these changes
Somehow, somehow.’
And I say, Karl…if you think that that banal soppy drivel is up there with Robert Frost, then I’m there with you coz I know you that you grew up in that wacko hippy ‘Dancing Bones’ community in Wentworth NH forests with your mother named ‘Sasquatch’ and your dad named ‘Dancing Bear’, and that mushroom, lime and turmeric cordial you make from there rocks my palate like a canoe on Lake Winnipesaukee on a windy day in October, so tell me more of the genius of Ray LaMontagne as we drive on this LSD trip to nowhere….
How is Annette Bening not also Elizabeth Warren?
Joel McHale"s kids were right... this was good.
Today annette 66 years
👍
Grow young❤

I hope she's making some money?! Because she's gonna need it. 😂😂😂

What he hell happened to her? She's changed so much in the last 25 years.
What the hell happened to you? You've changed so much in the last 25 years.
What happened to all of us
She’s very articulate and intelligent and a great storyteller.
She looks great.

If only you were as nice as Annette Bening.
@@JillKnappnothing happened to Andy. He's still the same objectifying jerk
