    What a fantastic day and ride this was! probably my favourite ride of the year, i loved devil's elbow, i think if you hit that again now you would be right there with us at the end, it's all about adapting to this kind of terrain which i can honestly say you have done, when you upload your ladybower and cut gate rides, everyone will see how much you've progressed on the rocky stuff, brilliant vid mate, enjoyed the extended cut, didn't feel like 43 mins long at all :))

      I don't think we did, rich pretty much included everything we did in the vid, love the peaks though, always a good choice :)

    Nice. Love lady Cannings. Had an altercation with a log there a couple of weeks ago 😂. Going upto stanage Edge this weekend thanks for the tour.

    The large pole on the Long Causeway is called Stanage Pole, which can be found high on the moors behind Stanage Edge. A wooden pole has stood here for hundreds of years marking the border of Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, Hathersage and Sheffield and probably the ancient kingdoms of Mercia and Northumbria. It is on an ancient packhorse route known as the Long Causeway and must have been a useful landmark to travellers over the years. It’s still important today as a focus for walkers and cyclists.
    We believe the last pole was erected in 1915 by Sheffield Corporation. In 2015 it was in danger of falling and so was taken down for safety reasons. With the help of the British Mountaineering Council and other local supporters the pole was replaced in a public ceremony on 17th April 2016 , the 65th anniversary of the National Park. Over 400 people came to watch the pole being hoisted into place with ropes, tripods and man-power, primarily volunteers from the British Mountaineering Council.
    Many individuals and organisations were involved in the design and the preparation of the new pole including antique restorer/ designer Chris Wells, Sheffield Clarion Ramblers, the Cutlers’ Company, Durham Foundry (Sheffield) Ltd, Hope Cement Works and officers of the Authority. The new pole is a larch tree trunk sourced from one of the small plantations adjacent to the Long Causeway. It is located within a steel socket in its original position between two boulders. A circlet of iron-work gives a sense of grandeur whilst significant location-focused information can be found on the cast-iron foot. Planning permission for the replacement pole was granted on 12th February 2016.

    way another point of interest 6:53 always touch the pole for good luck and safe passage down stanage ESPECIALLY in winter months as the rocky boulder descent that’s about to feature in this mint video will take u out no problem due to the spring at the top that completely turns the decent into an ice rink but nothing really a set of DH tyres can’t handle if done correctly

    Devil's elbow is the biz. Always evolving, always "never get it right" and always scares me just a little bit. 1:48 is my best. If you look on my TH-cam page my featured vid is me doing the elbow on my old hardtail. This area is my regular riding area. Pretty lucky really. Stanage is another iconic section of trail. That top bit get me every time. I think it's the massive drop on your left 😂. Great video Rich 👍

      Crikey that’s pretty quick definitely somewhere you need to session and hit a few times to get the correct line 👍

      @HallMarc_Trails 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jnadin39 , I think the times rich used are actual recorded times start to finish as captured on video, 2:48 is about right for me and bob but according to Strava it’s 2 minutes , 1:48 still bloody quick though 😂👍🏻

      Any time feels fast down there based on the nerves after it 😂. Agreed Rich, but like I said it seems to change every visit.

    Cheers, Some good trails there. I live in Sheffield, and will be riding Lady Cannings wood with my mate for the first time this weekend. I rode Piper House Gate descent (In Blacka Woods) a couple of years back with my son. That's a right turn rather than straight on down Devils Elbow. Faster and smoother, but a hoot all the same. I guess as an old codger, my lad took us on the gentle ride.

    another spot at 3:44, go into the car park at the bend of redmires road and you’ll come face on with a gate when u turn in, hop the gate onto a plethora of big fist size stones (as of jan 21) and then follow that but to the next gate, at the next gate u should see a big open moor land, (if u follow that all the way it takes u to an old mill that’s pretty cool imo) now still on the path from the prior gate cycle along till u get to a half beaten stone wall now if u look left you’ll see a tree line and a field that is box shaped with forest infront of field and to left and right now head into that field and straight into the front facing woods you might have to duck under some branches but you’ll get to an old bomb crater from ww1 where they used to train soldiers in trench warfare in this bomb hole there is a nice likkle roll in with a decent sized fly out that is fun to session

    11:44 righhhhhtttt sticky one here got a fab decent on the right ( the aforementioned ice rink death decent in winter) and in the left if you follow the edge it’s an extremely mellow technical climb and it’s so technical that the climb won’t kill you it’ll be the bike manoeuvres you’ll need to make, an amazing spot for all the lads who love a long section of trials ridin

    at 2:49 there’s a footpath entrance behind the abarth fiat thing, next time go down and follow that footpath, locals don’t mind mtbers on there cause there’s a few local lads to fulwood/lodgemoor area that go up and around there, i digress when following that footpath it’ll take u to the end of redmires road if you stay left side of reservoirs (there’s 3) it’ll take you to end of redmires road where the big gravel fire road starts as the road ends, saves u doing the tarmac work😉

    That lamp post is stanage pole and it's the ancient border on the Roman rd between Yorkshire and Derbyshire. The climb up is definitely more fun going down

      I haven't I'm sorry I would park at the bottom of Standridge edge session that a couple of times then go to Devils elbow car park mess about there for a bit and if you've got energy left then drive and park up at lady Cannings I wouldn't recommend this is a loop too much road unless you like that type of thing. Definitely drive to the different spots .

    Next time render at higher bitrate please as right now if you look carefully your footage loses a lot of quality for 1 second every 5 seconds.
