    Don't be fooled, Geoff Manchester may look like an ordinary guy, but he is secretly a Marvel superhero- iZoman! A mere mortal such as me can never hope to soar at his level, but it sure if fun watching! Another magnificent tutorial Geoff! Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is one of many reasons to use iZotope plugins.

    This Program is a Masterpiece, that set the new standard in mastering.
    The look and feel is amazing. And the output, well if you do not overdose in extremes, the outcome is fantastic. Already the presets give you nice results or good starting points.
    You are sceptical, fine, try the demo for yourselfand be amazed.

    Thanks for doing this video. It is great, that such tutorials have replaced classic "product manuals" over the time. I watched the full video, before getting in touch with the latest update. Because I am not a pro, I used to start with the assistant and continued working on afterwards by re-adjusting single elements. This time, in Ozone 10, I fed the assistant with a reference-track I had already used for its mixing. And the assistant really did the whole job. Of course, I compared the result to different tracks on different sound-systems and I also adjusted things - just to try out. But there was no need. I decided the assistants (matched) result to be my final version. I had a lot of mixing and mastering sessions in the past, which really tested my nerves (I prefer the creative part of making music). But this time it was as smooth like never before. Mastering within two Minutes.

    I've watched this vid 4 times now & keep coming back to specific chapters. What an excellent video.
    I'm having issues with master rebalance.
    If I bring up the vocal slider, all the sliders move.

    • @THXBeats
      @THXBeats 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my experience, the master rebalance slider is for focusing on only one aspect of the mix. So, If you select vocal and move the fader, then select drums, the sonic focus will switch from vocal to drums. Does that make any sense?

  • @michaelmos7497
    @michaelmos7497 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Another great tutorial. Geoff is just the right man for this because he explains "complicated details" in a calm, relaxed and matter-of-fact way. And not the kind of "overly motivated quick talker" that I'm thinking, colleague, have you had too little sleep for a week or drank 3 liters of strong coffee just before?! Having to listen to such a presentation for 60 minutes is pure stress and nerve-wracking.
    I've been using OZONE since version 9 and now also have version 10 and I'm still enthusiastic about the possibilities. It's just like this:
    There are "audio corrections", whether here in this tutorial or in others, where I hardly hear a difference with the best will in the world, despite full concentration, 100% listening, with headphones, everything you can do. And then when I see how "young people" consume music these days: MP-3 in the bus, train, on the street, via Bluetooth headphones, everything by the way - and of course always a smartphone in hand, where else on it is typed around........And then they get such subtle details of audio corrections?! I doubt it.
    Back in the 70s, I only listened to music when I was sitting on the sofa at home: record player on and LP on it, Kenwood Hi-Fi system with good/big Yamaha speakers turned on, which produced decent sound. And didn't do anything else on the side. Just listening to the music! About 45 minutes long. That's how long (or short) was the playing time of an LP, A+B side. Or does "one" do it that way today in the target group for which the chart music is mainly produced - or maybe again?☺

    Excellent job! Been using Ozone for years now, but this video taught me a lot, especially about the modules I don’t use every day. My only complaint is that the “no vocal” part of the video highlighted the pitch-modulated (out of tune) keyboard track, which was a little distracting. As a lesson in psychoacoustics, after about 20 minutes of it, it didn’t distract me anymore. Lol.

  • @mike_likes_sludge

    I've been testing Ozone 10 Advanced today (currently still at 7 Standard) and I've gotta say I'm very impressed. My mastering chain is usually cluttered with various eq's, tape saturation/exciters, "analog" compressors, de-essors, yada yada going into O7. I'm usually mixing/mastering metal and heavy rock and I'm finding the Stabilizer module (everyone compares it to Gulfoss, but I'm gonna compare it to MSpectralDynamics) and the Impact module (that most reviewers seem to be scratching their heads about) are both fantastic. As for the AI, I've never been a fan but I can see it as useful for some starting points and new perspectives, so I'm totally game but there needs to be more target points. Yeah, you can load your own target tracks (which I have not done yet), but the hip hop target seems more in line with modern hard rock than the rock target (HELLO UPPER MIDS haha). Aside from all of that, everything is easily tweakable to taste and you guys continue to knock it out of the park.

I've been a bit stuck in my production process so I got the urge to think about it backwards (from mastering towards songwriting) and this is really making me realize that I can work my next songwriting/production stage around balancing the frequency spectrum in each song better. Giving me new ideas for parts and song rewrites to get that soundstage beautiful and balanced :)
