- In February, KGW found Casey Jewell living in squalor. Her rented mobile home at the Hidden RV and Mobile Home Park (also known as Hidden Village) north of Vancouver was falling apart - and no one would fix it. KGW’s story, along with public outcry, prompted the landlord to find her a new place to call home.

It's amazing how fast things get moving when the news stations are contacted
Good samaritan help pay their deficit that's why its faster to relocate her to a better unit.
She looks so much more vibrant now.
Right. I mean look what a difference it makes being in that healthy environment.
I am so so so relieved to know she and her son aren't living in absolute squalor anymore.
Now, do the rest of the people living in such conditions!
Mobil homes are cozy comfy dwellings. If kept in good condition, a person can be happy living in one. I'm so pleased for this woman.
I never understand how people treat other people…….
But…..this ended well❤️
She’s a delightful and very grateful lady! I’m so happy things turned out so well for her and her son! Thanks and appreciation to everyone who donated to help her!
She deserves this and I'm so happy that she's happy! 🎉
Best news update .... EVER!!
Thank God she got help! Thank you KGW for bringing attention to this. Look at the difference in her face and how she carries herself being in a different environment. So many people go through this. In the previous broadcast she got so much flack and blame for her environment. But now she's in a different position and look how different she's holding herself. I know it's not an easy fix but environment really affects how people feel about themselves. We have a lot of work to do in legislation.
Awesome!!! I’m so happy to hear such great news!! Good job KGW!!
Thank you KGW for this update .Keep them coming . the more exposure the sooner help can come .
God bless her soul! She looks like she life restored in her. I’m so happy we still have kind hearted and loving humans. This made my month.🙏🏻💐🙌🏻
I am so glad to hear that she has a new place she can actually call home. My prayers were answered for this woman..❤❤
That's wonderful to hear for her. I hope the bill for law reform gets taken seriously next year. How many have to suffer in their dilapidated homes until then? I have a friend in Oregon who has had to live in a home with airborne mold for the last several years and it has taken a serious toll on her health, but she can't afford to live anywhere else.
So glad she's in a better place!
I was just thinking about you yesterday Casey 🥰 I'm so happy for you and your son.
I'm in the same situation here in California. I always pay my bills, but this place is literally falling apart like your old place and property management won't fix it. Housing authority knows all about it and sees the plastic I've had to tap up on the ceiling bc it's falling in. They don't care.
I'm disabled as well and I don't have the resources to move or fight them on it.
The leaks, the mold, the utility bills to try and stay warm, the impact to my health... It's outrageous how people can be so greedy and heartless.

I've been threatened w loosing my housing if I kept complaining... I don't have social media and never learned computer stuff.
I'm concerned that if I go to the news I'll just loose my housing or suffer some other form of retaliation.
Happy for her :)
Landlords need to keep up their rentals , but renters need to pay their rent! Sick though is the disgusting cost they charge for apartment complexes.
It looks like there are others in that trailer court who are living in very poor conditions.
This is such a relief to see this happy update! I pray this lady has an easier time going forward. 🙏💙
She even looks amazing. Continuing happiness to her and her son! ❤🙏🏼
She is so deserving. I’ve been awaiting an update on this sweet soul and her son 🥰
It amazes me that a landlord would want their own property to get to such a state of disrepair cos if he had done the repairs the building would last longer. Im happy this lady and her son were moved to a much better home.
It just seems petty the owner deliberately refused to repair the old mobile home. He shot himself in the foot really.
I am so happy for her 😊
Her trailer was at The street of screams
I’m so glad it turned around for her!
Awe, so happy to hear this lady has a new, safe home!❤ This made my day, seeing this update.
Casey Jewell, God Bless you ❤ Her story is one I haven’t been able to stop thinking about. I am so happy to see this outcome ❤❤❤ Best update ever!!
It's awesome too since your last video you look better.
❤
This is such a good ending thank you 🙏🏻 my fellow humans for donating
“We will try again next year” of course yall didn’t get to it. It would help the people and not the landlord.
I’m so glad 😃
Yay!! Good for her!
I am. happy for Casey!
Im happy for her!!!
I am happy for you
💰 ~ If I was that woman I would’ve taken the $12,000 and moved to a new place or renegotiated my back rent. Because if she moves out they are never going to get their back rent from her. So she can negotiate to pay 30% or 50% of her back rent, and they should be very happy and then she saves money. And then save the rest of the money for a rainy day. If she’s like my mom she cannot save anything for a rainy day, she will wasted on random crap or the casino or whatever.
I don't understand. It says shes in Vancouver, but then says shes in Washington. Is this Canada or the US?
God bless her.
Years ago we had trouble with no hot water and an illegal wood stove for heat. We were told by the powers that be the landlord tenant laws were all made by home owners, law makers . No tenants or renters. So no chance on a fair deal
Her rent will be going up!!😢
I feel bad for the woman, but I think I understand the law about not being able to force the landlord to do repairs when you’re behind in your rent. Otherwise you get scammers who don’t pay their rent and then they basically start tearing up the pipes and everything else and then suing their landlord for having an uninhabitable house. Just like squatters are constantly scanning people by making them jump through hoops in court and dragging everything out or you have to pay this water to leave, even legitimate renters have different scams they work.
I don't think this is one of those situations where the landlord should not have to make repairs. It should of been illegal for them to allow anyone to be a tenant there in the first place. The place needed to be condemned. If you think it is acceptable to rent out place like that and then blame the tenant...you need help.
🙏🏼
Nearly $1,000 a month for a caravan with no water, no a/c or heating and a hole in the roof?
That's an insane amount of money for literally nothing.
❤❤❤
Lucky lady.
Come back in three months!!!!
Why didn't they move out and get a different place to live? Did they work?
$$$
I'm so happy for them. Scumlords make me sick.
Many laws for renters need to be changed.
She deserves it so much

That system allows the rich to stay rich and the poor to stay poor. The slum lords are greasing the pockets of these politicians. The slum lords are wealthy. Follow the money. 💰
JESUS 🙏🙏❤️
Why do landlords always get called slum lords? We've been very good landlords, never had complaints form our tenants but have lost tens and tens and tens of thousands of dollars by "slum tenants." Why don't they ever get called what they sometimes are???
Is this news story about you?? Some landlords are awesome and some are down right terrible people like the ones who own these lots.
Because they refused to maintain their own assets for their own good just because someone else i.e the tenant, will benefit from the maintenance.
Lawmakers don’t get these life impacting measures through because they’re often too busy playing politics with meaningless measures that are meant to hurt the “other side” rather than improve the lives of their constituents.
This is wonderful….. but what about all the other people?
Oh that’s right the government is paying billions to house and feed illegal criminals who jump our borders.
Couldn't have said it better myself. There are still run down trailers in this park
Now all she gotta do is get her teeth fixed!
