How can you possibly remain sitting and spending 5 seconds of polite applause when Mr Tin himself is about to be prized? Rise from your seats, or kneel down, but praise him!
Congratulations on the win! I've loved this piece of music ever since I heard it at VGL, and it totally deserves a Grammy! Hopefully more video game music will be recognized from now on :)
@goatgoat That "emo" host is BT (Brian Transeau), one of the most influential electronic composers of the 90s and 2000s. He has always rocked that look, and his music is better and more original than anything that was played at the Grammy this past year, or in the past 10+ years.
I hope he's right about other video games being nominated for grammys but I doubt it'll ever happen again... the music for the past few elder scrolls games have been awesome and not a single one of them has ever been so much as nominated for an award
I'm shocked he didn't mention Talisman! That's the group he sang with at Stanford and where the song came from. Anyways, we Talisman loves you, Chris!!! Come visit us!!!! We miss you!!!!!
@mahinaokalani It's really hard to find time to thank everyone. He didn't mention VGL either, so I'm sure he would have loved to mention Talisman if given the amount of time. Nonetheless it's a win for everybody who participated in the song's popularity included creators listeners.
@evergrim I think other video game composers like Nobuo Uematsu and Yasunori Mitsuda will need to release non-soundtrack albums in the U.S. in order to be considered for a Grammy.
Don't be so sure. New art forms often take a while to get recognition, but they do get there with time. And though it didn't win, we've already seen another video game soundtrack (Journey, by Austin Wintory) nominated for a Grammy.
@egretdingo Civ 5 was "casualized". It's not a bad thing for someone who's not used to Civ Games, which are kinda (really) complex. You don't just cheese units into oblivion kind of like in Starcraft...you need to THINK your actions and almost everything you do.
Well I'll be...the very first time a video game song winning a Grammy... This can't be called an "Epic Win", that dosen't exactly describe it... This is a HISTORIC WIN!
Isn't it cool how a song written for a video game about history goes down in history as the first video game song to win a Grammy? :)
Christopher Tin & Sid meier has been culture victory!!
I really wish they had played a segment of Baba Yetu instead of whatever generic Grammy award music that was... would have been so epic!
Well deserved. Baba Yetu is simply amazing.

@chreveir Proof that nobody in the audience has ever played Civilization IV.
History.

Chris, I'm SO HAPPY for you!!!!!!! You have made history my friend! Well done!!!

Congratulations Chris - Well-deserved!
Great song and more than worthy of this GRAMMY!
AMAZING!!!! I loved this song the moment I saw the menu screen and couldn't continue until it ended.
I love that people in the audience cheered and clapped at the fact that it's the first time a video game song won a grammy.

My people are now buying your blue jeans and listening to your pop music.
HOLY CRAP!!!
Pretzel congratulations on making history
A beautiful piece greatly deserving this award and any and all accolades it receives.
I bet most of the audience had not heard the song before as it was a game ost, guessing from weak applause.
Great song, great composer, and great game.
You create great music. Thanks for mention video games ;)
It's astounding that so few people cheer for it
Hahaha...my first time watching this, and I see that my favorite EDM artist is the one reading the nomination. That's just cherry on top, lol
Well done Chris!!!
Tin is a genius!
I hope he's right about other video games being nominated for grammys but I doubt it'll ever happen again... the music for the past few elder scrolls games have been awesome and not a single one of them has ever been so much as nominated for an award
nice one Chris :)
Congrats Tin =)
Good job Chris! and thanks for answering my stupid composition questions!
I'm shocked he didn't mention Talisman!
That's the group he sang with at Stanford and where the song came from.

Way to go Chris! Reminds me of the old joke/review... this album REALLY needs more EPIC! LOL!

I'm so glad he didn't slip on the stairs.

Ah... The good old days when the Grammys were about culture.

woo Go Christopher Tin rock on I also Think Dragon Quest Composer Koichi Sugiyama should get one
YEAH BILL HARE. WOOOOOOO!!
I kinda hoped he would mention from what video game it was (Civilization 4) or Sid Meier
The only thing that could have made this guy more badass is if he pulled out an ocarina and played Saria's Song.
whats really funny s i don't think most of them know where this song comes from
I agree Nobou Uematsu and yasunori mitsuda is way better than some hollywood music composers
The guy at the beginning looks like Davey Havok.
Well I'll be...the very first time a video game song winning a Grammy...
This can't be called an "Epic Win", that dosen't exactly describe it...
This is a HISTORIC WIN!
The OST of Wrath of the Lich King should have a grammy.
