Thanks Ann! I’m really happy with how it turned out.. just might tone down or omit the cloves next year

A little goes a long way with cloves - looks like a fantastic recipe! I bet that leftover rye would make a good old fashioned with some maple syrup as well.

Yea I didn’t think it was that much but still too strong for me… the liqueur is still great! But might just leave them out next time

I had a question, is there perhaps another name for the pumpkin? I cant seem to find the pumpkin you used

    • @RobsHomeBar

They might be called pie pumpkins, sugar pumpkins or sweet pumpkins… ask for pumpkins used for making pies; they’re typically smaller and sweeter than the ones you carve up for jack o lanterns

Are you sure it was the cloves you didn't like and not the anise? I followed your recipe but with a few modifications, and I desperately wish I had left out the anise. It's not a pumpkin pie spice. It was very overpowering and made this taste more like an anise spiced liqueur than a pumpkin spice liqueur.

That’s too bad.. the star anise in mine definitely wasn’t overpowering at all but I def think it’s a good idea to leave it out. The clove is unmistakable and was too strong in mine
