My 87 year old Dad loooooooves lentil soup. I use my crockpot to make this. A bag of dry Lentil, two packages of kielbasa chopped, chopped onions, 4 to 6 cups of any kind of broth , chopped onions, and salt/pepper to taste. I cook for 10 hours low. Presto! You have a nice hearty and meaty soup to go with it yummy warm crusty bread and side green salad. You can adjust the soup to keep it thick or brothy like. Either way it’s delish!
I realize people are vegetarians but: a ham hock in the lentil soup, bacon in the potato soup, and some Fritos in the taco soup would be my recommendation. it all is good when it is cold outside.
I just bought a 10 pound bag of potatoes. So potato soup it will be. Especially since Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday will be daytime high in the lower single digits and lows below zero. Thank you for all of the delicious soups. BTW, you all have had more snow than here in Southeast Wisconsin 😂😂

I have been sick with the flu for 2 weeks and not much of an appetite but, watching your videos are making me hungry.. they all look good but, I think my favorite one will be the cream of potato soup.. when I get my energy back that is going to be the first thing I make.. Thank you Mandy and have a great weekend
Try a TexMex Vegetable Soup. I usually start with vegetables I have on hand fresh, frozen and canned. I use tomato juice as a base, could also use vegetable broth. To make it TexMex I add 1/2 jar of Salsa plus Cumin and Chili powder.
Your potato soup recipe is the same one that my grandmother made for me from the time I was a small child and I’m almost 59 and she told me that her mother made it for her. A family favorite.
My co-worker got Caraway baking sheets for Christmas. From her daughters. She did not know what they were. She was talking to me about them and I said , OH Mandy uses Caraway ! They are some good pots and pans. lol. Her daughters told her they were a bit expensive but they were supposedly good. She loves them. Just thought I would share that with you.
Good soups are such a comfort food in the colder winter weather, although I love good soups all year round.. some bread or rolls with it to dip in yummy...they all look great . Thanks for sharing this video.. y'all stay warm too and enjoy the weekend ahead.. God bless you all. 🙏🥰🥰🥰
Love soup, and these three look delicious. Steven's expressions say it all! Thank you, Mandy, for putting this video together for us! I am looking forward to trying them all. Take care!❤🎉😊
Same potato soup my family made going back to 1950s. I was raised on that stuff. Of course my daddy put bacon or if it was after the holidays we always had some leftover ham and he would dice up some ham. But what’s weird is it’s even good with some chicken breast in there. I’ve also turned it into mushroom potato soup, just by adding some sliced mushrooms from the store. My ex used to like to brown a pound of hamburger meat and put it in the soup and put less liquids so it was really like a hamburger helper. But he would ask me to make potato soup with half the liquid, and then he would brown some ground beef with some seasonings and shove it in the soup. I wasn’t too fond of that, but I would eat it if I put some cheese over it and baked it again either in the microwave or in the oven. But truly, this takes me back to cold gray weeks of winter as a little kid and smelling that soup cooking for hours in the kitchen slowly. Mama put a whole large onion in the pan first with the bacon and got that all browned up and then make her soup on top of it so we knew potato soup was coming in the morning when we woke up to smell the onion and bacon not just the bacon. And all of us kids would say that we could not wait till that soup got done in the afternoon. And she would make up a pan of homemade biscuits to go with it. And my dad would slice open two of those biscuits and lay it out on a plate and dump his soup on top of it. Oddly enough all my life I’ve tried to explain potato soup to people, and they don’t seem to get it. They say it sounds horrible or bland. And I volunteered to bring a huge catering size crock of potato soup to a winter holiday party at my office when I was still working and it was the hit of the party. I thought I was gonna be bringing home big Tupperware buckets full of soup because everyone was just going to taste it and turn up their nose. Nope! They were putting back sandwiches in the refrigerator for lunch leftovers for the next week and I didn’t have a drop of potato soup to take home. They were fighting over who got the last couple of cups of potato soup at the party. And then they made me go to my computer and type it out on an email and send the recipe to the whole company mailing list… the VP made me do it🤣. Even the men wanted the recipe for their wives.😂 once you get a taste of potato soup, no matter what kind of preconceived notion you had to begin with you’ll change your mind quite quickly. Thanks for this recipe. I think I’m gonna go make some potato soup. I’ve got some leftover honeybaked ham in the freezer. 👍☮️

The whole episode of the Lentil soup was hilarious to me because Mandy was so cranky to Steven or should I say, Hangry!? hahahaha! I think she has finally convinced me to order the Wildgrain box! Yum!
I tried your dad's potato soup for my family and they loved it! It was so comforting. I live in Daytona Beach, FL and we DO get cold days occasionally. I added a small topping of shredded cheese and bits of bacon. It's great! Also your lentil soup/stew is a great recipe. I always add sauteed smoked turkey sausage to mine. It boosts the flavor and adds more protein. Thanks for all of your wonderful recipes along with the entertainment your family adds.
I really wish we had something like Wildgrain in Australia. There are a lot of amazing products that you have in the US but we don’t get here. Our population is so much smaller and I’m told that has a lot to do with it. I’m very envious of the bread doughs in a can that you have. Going to get very cold in my part of Texas this weekend too. Can't wait to try these recipes. The taco soup variation intrigues me. Love the interaction with your husband. You two are so cute! TFS.
I've made a similar lentil soup for years. I love to brown some of the adelle's sausage (or sometimes a smoked one if I have that on hand) and toss it in before serving. It gives a nice texture difference too. Also a splash of lemon juice or balsalmic vinegar are (as Steven would say) Ahmaazing!
You got me hooked on Wildgrain! Their bread is sooooo good, I cannot get enough of it. I think I am going to try the lentil soup, never had lentils before.

Hi Mandy… I had to let you know that I made your baked rice with the French Onion soup today for a family party. It was delicious. Everyone loved it. I did double the recipe and it turned out perfect. I also used the butter. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I love watching you both. I am also going to be making the lentil soup in this video. I thought I had picked up a bag of dried peas and when I was putting away my groceries I noticed they were lentils…. God bless you and your family. ❤

Soup season is my favorite season. I can't wait to add these to our meal plan. We've been loving soups here lately. I made a pot of chicken, wild rice, and veggie soup last week and it's a new favorite of ours.
Mandi. WOWWWWWWW my hubby saw your video here and wanted to try that lentil soup. Which if you knew my hubby veggie wise he only eats peas, and broccoli and soft carrots. Well I made it tonite we are in loveeeeeee thank you.
So I was going to make a soup today but didn't have any lentils. I looked up online and you can substitute beans or quinoa. I think I will substitute a quinoa rice mixture. Great idea for a soup
If you like a thicker soup, take a couple scoops out and blend it up. I usually use my stick blender. Put it back in. This method doesn’t change the seasoning of your soup. If you need to stay gluten free, this is perfect.
All the soups look delicious 😋. We say Janky in Pennsylvania .1-22 next Tuesday night supposedly minus 9 degree 🥶 here in Pennsylvania. ( Let's hope not ) Wishing Everyone A Blessed Weekend. Stay Safe and Warm Everyone.
Yummy recipes! Potato soup is my favorite with bacon and little bit of shredded carrots and finely chopped celery. I always use a bag of frozen country style hash browns instead of fresh potatoes. It hurts my hands to much to peel them any more. Love you and your family!
Every recipe looked amazing, but I’ve been looking for a really good potato soup recipe 🤗 My taco soup is very similar to yours. I use ground turkey and I add my cream cheese to the turkey to help it blend/melt. Love your videos! Thanks for sharing 🤗
❤ dad would make potato soup. But he left some chucks. He didn’t drain all the water off though. And he added milk to it with margarine. Delicious. He would also make hot potato salad. Boil them drain and mash them some. Add onion, boiled eggs and Mayo. That was good too.
My daughter is a vegetarian I have used lentils in some recipes. I think they are good and a great source of protein. Instead of meat lentils are very economical on the wallet also. Keep up the good work with your channel. I have pinned some of your recipes. Your taste tester Steven is a sweetheart.
Janky is for sure a word and I use it often. Funny you made a lentil soup, I was just looking at a bag of them at the store the other day. I chickened out and didn’t get them, but I might try now. Wild grain is very good. I don’t have a subscription but someone gifted us a box and we really enjoyed it.
I love that you turned me on to wild grain….i love the free croissants and the sourdough rolls…those are easy for me to bake what I need as a single person…
This video came just in time. I'm having surgery in the very near future and will be eating soups during recovery. I also just bought a chopper and can't wait to use it. Thank you for these recipes.
Got to use lentils more. They are high in fiber and protein while being low in calories. I often sub them when I don't have any meat. If you like sweet potatoes and I think you do a nice sweet potato and lentil soup is great also. Thanks for the videos and fun times.
Mandy, if you want to add something meaty to the lentil soup, cook up a bit of chorizo (hard chorizo if you can find it but if not regular chorizo will work as well) and add it in to the soup, it's an absolutely delicious addition. My husband learned about this addition when he was doing a 2 year mission trip in Spain. Try it, you'll enjoy it. That potato soup looks fabulous, I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for sharing another wonderful video with us.
All these soups sound yummy, but I think your daddy's potato soup would be my husbands favorite. I think my favorite would be the taco and potato... You and Steven are adorable. Thanks for the recipes...God bless you and your family...Sherri-Idaho

I love Wildgrain. You are right about the cookies being huge. This is the first time I will be trying the French butter. Oh, and I also love the croissants. Thanks for these recipes. Stay safe and warm
So glad you love Wildgrain, too! It's wonderful and it's like Christmas every time we get a box in! LOL
Love Soups..i made that daddy's potatoe soup.. its a winner..
Remember the whimpy celery you use one time..I forgot to type this tip in. Cut off root..then make sure not to wet..roll it in aluminum foil..loosely close the ends...😉
❤ From Michigan..
Great idea for stems!
That’s how my Mamma makes Loaded potato soup. Sooooo good!! Great recipes Mandy!! Stay warm. ❤
For the potato soup salted butter or unsalted butter
Salted is fine!
The lentil soup looks absolutely delicious. I can hardly wait to get the ingredients.
I want to try the taco soup first!
Cold here in oklahoma. Looks like I'll be trying these recipes. Thank you so much. Stay warm❤
Taco Soup! Just made it tonight! I will be trying all of these!
If you like a thicker soup, take a couple scoops out and blend it up. I usually use my stick blender. Put it back in. This method doesn’t change the seasoning of your soup. If you need to stay gluten free, this is perfect.
What a great idea!
Hope you guys are doing ok in this crazy winter weather ! I’m in Ohio so we are used to it. Stay warm ❤
I live in Ohio, We will be getting the snow next week. Thanks for the soup ideas. I love Potato Soup. I use Leeks in mine.
Stay warm. Eat Hearty
I love soups. I’m from cold country and these are great soups.
It did snow and it was beautiful ❤❤❤
All the soups look delicious 😋. We say Janky in Pennsylvania .1-22 next Tuesday night supposedly minus 9 degree 🥶 here in Pennsylvania. ( Let's hope not ) Wishing Everyone A Blessed Weekend. Stay Safe and Warm Everyone.
Prayers up for y'all🙏💕
@dianeallen4468 Thank you. We will be okay ,it is only 2 nights .
Yummy recipes! Potato soup is my favorite with bacon and little bit of shredded carrots and finely chopped celery. I always use a bag of frozen country style hash browns instead of fresh potatoes. It hurts my hands to much to peel them any more. Love you and your family!
Every recipe looked amazing, but I’ve been looking for a really good potato soup recipe 🤗
My taco soup is very similar to yours. I use ground turkey and I add my cream cheese to the turkey to help it blend/melt.
Love your videos! Thanks for sharing 🤗
Love your videos . Wish wildgrain was available in Canada
Yes I would like to try the bread one day. Soups looked good. My favorite is potato soup, my dad loved it too.
I’m going to try the taco soup. I’m not a fan of lentils, but I will cut the recipe down a little as it’s just me. Have a great weekend 🤗
❤ dad would make potato soup. But he left some chucks. He didn’t drain all the water off though. And he added milk to it with margarine. Delicious. He would also make hot potato salad. Boil them drain and mash them some. Add onion, boiled eggs and Mayo. That was good too.
Yummy, soup is good for the soul 🙏
I totally agree! Nothing is better on a cold day.
My daughter is a vegetarian I have used lentils in some recipes. I think they are good and a great source of protein. Instead of meat lentils are very economical on the wallet also. Keep up the good work with your channel. I have pinned some of your recipes. Your taste tester Steven is a sweetheart.
I enjoy lentils especially with carrots and onions. These 3 soups look like items we’ll definitely try. Thanks for sharing these.
Love the chopper!
All three of these sound good to me! I’ve saved them all. Thank you
I love how you garnish all of your dishes! They always look so pretty!
Janky is 100% a word. We use it often in our house! Those soups look delicious! Can't wait to try them.
I JUST LOVE WATCHING YOU GUYS
Love your glasses!!! Enjoyed watching your trip with the girls and joined their TH-cam!
All these soups sound yummy, but I think your daddy's potato soup would be my husbands favorite. I think my favorite would be the taco and potato... You and Steven are adorable. Thanks for the recipes...God bless you and your family...Sherri-Idaho
I am making a chicken lentil soup with chopped mini peppers made with chicken bone broth. I love lentils. So filling and satisfying. Going to add a little spinach too.
Thanks Mandy for making my life easier, I ordered the chopper at Christmas time! What a time saver and I love that all the pieces are a similar size, especially for the potato soup.
Awesome video. The recipes looks delicious
Thanks, I hope you get to try one!
Thank you. ❤
Mandy, those soups look delicious! Thanks so much for sharing!! Abundant blessings y’all! 🙏😊❤️
Love, love, love soups….but can’t wait to try your Dads loaded potato soup!!
I agree about the stems!
