You know, I was thinking.. there are so many great recipes in canuary. It would be so great to follow along & just make even one small batch of everything. Each day can one of the recipes, & by the end of thirty days we’d have a couple hundred jars of food on our shelves! That would be so great! Here’s to split pea soup! 💞 Happy canuary! 💞

I could eat soup everyday but don't want to make a big pot and eat the same thing for a week. I am loving all the soup recipes from Canuary that I can can a batch and pull out a different soup everyday or every other day. Thank you Leisa for all your hard work for this yearly collaboration and to 4 jars for their fantastic products!

I've been following you for a few years now, I think I found you during a Canuary. Now when I pull you tube up to watch everyone for Canuary, my husband hangs on my shoulder now watching as well. Then I hear little whispers " that looks good, are you going to make that too? " Your video's have became a family event for us.
Your soup looks amazing and I love forjars. Last year , I got new jars and as I prepared to can , I took those lids off , got my forjar lids out instead. I won't can food without forjars lids now. I've had 1 failure and it was totally my fault. Thank you so much for Canuary and doing this for everyone. I love it.

Yup, fairly new canner here. My 1st canuary. So happy to see this video. Just ordered the split peas you recommended. Will definitely have to do this soup. I wouldn't have looked for this recipe knowing density is an issue. I already have canned ham broth on the shelf I made last week. Cubed ham in freezer from the leftover spiral ham. Can't wait to get the last main ingredient. Thanks so much for coordinating canuary. I have learned so much and greatly enjoyed the various channels.

I lived 60 days on split pea soup in the early 70s. It was all I could afford at age 17. I used bacon, ham hocks, and even just bacon grease to flavor. I also added celery, carrots, or parsnips for variety. I even added a little milk to make it creamy. Note: I don't can with the milk or cream, I add it before I eat it. It is one of the more affordable soups you can make even today. I even mix my split peas with both green and yellow and added lintels. Get creative ❤.

I go to the state just north of me because they have a community cannery I sometimes take my freeze dried stuff to put in #10 cans. Several years ago they had bags of yellow split peas they needed to get rid of (food pantries in my state wouldn't take it from our commodity distribution center). I left with 450lbs yellow split peas, some of which will go into soup tomorrow

Thank you for sharing the recipe with us. I do not eat split pea soup or recall trying this soup. My mother loves eating split pea soup. I will watch this again and attempt to do some pint or half pint jars for my mother. To make it easier to have the soups she enjoys.
I just ordered my So Easy to Preserve book from Univ of GA Ext. I am going to look into purchasing some of the pint in half jars from Azure. I really like the look of those jars. Thank you again. Have a Blessed Day ✌️

Really like this recipe! I can't think of a better way to warm up my living room and kitchen this weekend, than by making this split pea soup recipe in the pint jars I always have on hand. Thank you for all you do to emphasize safe canning in your videos! Happy Canuary 2025!

Fun to watch video and I’m thankful for you and for jars lids! I did this in the summer and I was surprised at how good it was according to a few friends I shared it with who love split pea soup. So I guess that’s a plus for me. I like it on the thicker side also! Thank you again for this collaboration! It’s my first one !

Split pea is our all time favorite canned soup! I do at least 2 batches every year; some with leftover ham, some with hocks, some with Canadian bacon that was marked down, and some with ham chunks. I always use the leftover ham bones for pints of ham broth that we use to thin the soup. Thank you so much for coordinating Canuary every year! You're the best!

Thick wins at my house! Split pea soup with a slice of hot buttered cornbread. This was a family favorite during the cool days of fall and winter. Am doubling down on my ham hock hunt. When I find them will be buying several.
My first Canuary. Am so impressed with all the wonderful tutors your have brought into this program. Am learning so much. Leisa, thank you for all you do and how much you care that we are safe and prepared. Thanks also to ForJars for sponsoring these amazing videos.

I'm so happy I came across your Sutton's Daze video for canning homemade split pea soup. My Mom used to make it for our family, but I haven't made any myself, but now I see that I can make it and "Can" the bulk of it for future meals, I'm excited to try it. Thank you.

Thank you, Leisa! Another great recipe! I appreciate how you stress safe canning. And how you explain what the soup should look like when complete. Great information…especially for newer canners.

I've been wanting to do spilt pea. Hadn't run across a video yet. Starting to get a collection of dried peas in the pantry. Time to make some soup! The thicker the better!! Happy Canuary.
