My husband and i drove up to Omaha and took our daughter to that zoo when she was about 4 years old. My husband passed away in 2020, he was only 44 years old. Thank you so much for sharing with us, you brought back so many great memories ❤😢😊
I would have been the most excited to see elephants and hippos. I'm glad you got to see them both and so much more.... Usually I think the animals look sad to be behind bars but these animals all seem well taken care of and content.
We just had several baby elephants. 💕 This zoo should be on everyone's must stop list. We are ever evolving and making sure the animals are taken care of. Also, have an amazing teaching program for the young children to teenager groups. I loved growing up in this zoo and still going to the zoo with my children.
Thank you so much for taking us along, Nancy My favorite part of when Joe showed you something and then you said I'm going back to the monkeys🤣🤣😂😂It was funny. Thanks so much VanderVeer Family Thank you for all the kind words you say. Thanks for the video VanderVeer Family! I'll see you in next video always remember be kind & sweet.🥰🥰🥰
The Lied Jungle and the Giraffes are always my favorite exhibits. Under the desert dome is the Kindom of the Nights, I try to avoid that area at all cost, I admit that area freaks out my senses, and the dark along with bats and other slivering animals freak me out. 😅
how fun! I'm lucky enough to be within a couple hours of the San Diego Zoo which is considered the best in the U.S.A. (the price matches it lol) so this is such fun footage to watch, one of my favorite things to do.
The mongoose made me remember Captain and Tennille's Muscat love! Does Craig know THAT animal song? There's my kookaburra song😍 I love owls! My son discovered that New Zealand penguins used to grow up to 5 feet tall. He has been living down there the last 4+ years. Beautiful butterflies! That really stinks that things are not open midweek ... They should give discount during week for shorter choices. Glad he had a terrific day. Nice place to stay! I lived across the street from the Mutual of Omaha insurance building in 1998. 😉
They are awesome, but their giftshop is pretty overpriced, at least for the locals. We can't go in there without spending 80 bucks on our three kids, not including entry fees and everything else
I have never heard the duck song !! Thank you ! Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree..Merry merry King of the bush is he..laugh Kookaburra , laugh Kookaburra , gay your life must be !! ❤ that zoo is awesome !
That was a cool trip. I like the Klipspringers, I noticed that they walk on the very tips of their toes. And I read somewhere, that elephants view people as little children, and they get a kick out of us😁♥️. Tigers are by far my favorite 🥰😍
We love the Omaha zoo!! Also, if you don't want to pay the expensive food prices, they do allow outside food to be brought in.....but then you might have to drag a cooler around or something
We do don’t mind paying for the food. It was a little hard to find food in some areas of the zoo. But it wasn’t very busy that day so I’m guessing they weren’t open at full capacity
Nancy, you really made my day. The video you produced was very good. So happy Craig had a great day in my home city. I haven't been to the zoo in over 30 yrs. Sure has changed since I last visited. You guys never disappoint with your videos! ❤😊❤
Oh, I wondered if it sounded familiar. Tanuki (or sometimes Tanooki) is a raccoon suit that Mario can wear in a few of those Nintendo games. It lets him fly with the power of his tail. As I type this, it does sound absurd, but that is the situation of it in the Super Mario universe! It is fun to see that garden with statues of them.
Oh wow! I looked up the Lied Jungle and Wikipedia had great information! The Lied Jungle opened on April 4, 1992, at a cost of $15 million. It is one of the largest indoor rainforest exhibits in the world; it occupies an 80-foot (24 m) tall building that spans 1.5 acres (0.61 ha) and is located just inside the main entrance. What a fantastic zoo! Thanks for taking us along!
When I was a little girl, and we went to the zoo… if I saw an animal like an okapi… I would always call them “an animal that God made with leftover parts”. I haven’t thought of that since I was a child. Thank you for the memories. Absolutely beautiful zoo!
As someone who enjoys nature vids this was definitely a fun Vanderveer family trip to the Omaha Zoo!! Your Vanderveer family day-trip videos are probably my favorite! 🤔❤️😉
I love doing mini trips!! Living in the Mid Atlantic we have so many options..Ocean to the Mountains and lots of historic places. Hoping to visit your part of the country soon, New Mexico/Arizona, and Montana/Utah. ❤ So happy Craig enjoyed this trip! You’re incredible parents giving Craig his best life!!!🥰
If you're ever back in Nebraska be sure to visit the Children's Zoo in Lincoln and if you go further west to Grand Island the Stuer Museum is pretty cool too and the best pizza in Nebraska is just 30 minutes from there in Dannebrog at the Danish Bakery.
When my Daughter was young, we went to the Columbia Zoo 1-2 times a week. My wife had purchased some type of Annual National passes that provided entry into all of the zoos. I just thought that might interest Craig as my Daughter received monthly magazines and such.
Wow this brings back some fond memories! I lived near and then also visited Omaha when I was very young. The indoor jungle was a favorite of mine. Our dear Craig sure dressed for the occasion with his (always) shorts!
1:35 It is so cool to see you at the Henry Dooley Zoo. I used to live in Little Italy just a mile or two down the road. My oldest brother ran the crane that set the dome on top of the desert dome years ago.
@@ourdailyview us to! We are going down the first week of October so Mom can see her grandkids and great-grandkids. They all live in Omaha and have a family season pass. We moved to Iowa we've been residents here in Holstein Iowa for almost 6 years now.
I don't go that often, but visiting a zoo can be so much fun !! You guys saw some cool animals, the jelly fish were actually really beautiful !! I like the area across the street from your hotel. Great architecture !! It looks like old industrial buildings that are converted. I'm happy to hear that Craig was having so much fun and i hope you and Joe enjoyed yourselves too !! Looking forward to the next video !! ❤
I appreciated that Craig clocked that spider as soon as he got near that enclosure. I am that way with an animal I have a phobia of and almost always notice them before people who don't mind them or are just scared of them do. (And thank you SO MUCH for not filming that animal! I went through the transcript first just to make sure j didn't accidentally see any.)
Our zoo in Omaha is the number one in the United States and I believe in the world we add something new every year to make it bigger and better. I’ve been coming to this zoo since the 70s.

So sorry for your loss. I am glad your family was able to make those happy memories at the zoo together.
@@SCMelArtsThat’s so kind of you, really…Zoo’s can make good memories for sure!
Awesome zoo! Sorry Greg I like Peppa Pig. I never watched Bleuy
As always...thanks for taking us along.
It's cool seeing you explore my neck of the woods.
I moved to Omaha in 2005. I have been to zoos all over the world and the Henry Doorly Zoo is my favorite so far! Glad you guys got to enjoy the zoo.
I would have been the most excited to see elephants and hippos. I'm glad you got to see them both and so much more.... Usually I think the animals look sad to be behind bars but these animals all seem well taken care of and content.
This is has been ranked the best zoo in the nation multiple years in a row. The keepers truly care about there animal here

LOL - it was the bats, right! I laughed too.
Did anyone find it weird when the people were going the wrong way and he said maybe if they learned English?
I really don’t know what you’re referring to. If Craig said he was just saying something from a video.
@@ourdailyview26:23 joe says people are going the wrong way, then next he says maybe if they learned english and it cuts.

I’ve heard that the San Diego Zoo is spectacular!
Omaha Henry Doorly has been ranked number 1 for the past couple years. San Diego was 3rd this year bit still a fantastic zoo

All the stuffed animals at the zoo store are so cute 😍…..I would want each one of them 😂
They are awesome, but their giftshop is pretty overpriced, at least for the locals. We can't go in there without spending 80 bucks on our three kids, not including entry fees and everything else
Has Craig ever read The Penguin that Hated the Cold? I've loved it since I was little. It might be a good candidate for his next reading!

That is fun to know! Craig will enjoy that information! 😊
My favorite part about the zoo when going is to get those Omaha steaks cheeseburgers near the main entrance during the summer time.
That sounds delicious!!
Peccary (what looked like pigs) are native where we live here in the Arizona Desert. We call them Javelina (the J is pronounced like an H).
I’ve been there 1,000 times

A year or so ago they updated the Lied Jungle so it's even better than the original Lied (pronounced Leed)

If I’m remembering correctly it provided entry into the aquariums as well
That’s really cool! We have a membership to our local zoo and don’t get there often enough.
