Brian, absolutely one of your best lessons. I've been playing for over 60 years, self taught, and know many of the things you teach but I learn something new every time. I really didn't know what I was doing or why things worked they just sounded good. Your lessons bring clarity to this old rocker. Thank you so much.
This is profound, I know the different patterns with major and minor pentatonic but have struggled putting simple licks and chords together to accompany myself. This lesson is gold, thank you sir for your content, it is greatly appreciated.
I had to smirk, aren't we all ,just playing guitar by ourselves ? I know I do, I'm my own star, me and my guitar. Great comment, Brian is the Master of weekly " leaps of learning".
I'm a country and classic rock drummer trying to learn to play the guitar. and up till I stumbled onto your channe.l I thought it was hopeless thank you!
The blues puzzle pieces (scales, licks, chords, timing and melody) are all starting to fit together. These lessons using your own guitar as the backing track are by far the best I’ve ever come across. I also love how encouraging you are to those of all different skill levels. You have a very unique teaching style, and personable approach that make guitar lessons feel less like a chore. I can also see the passion you have for people. What a wonderful gift. Thank you very much, and God bless you.
Love your Jerry shirt. Thank you for making a video that even a beginner can experience what its like to improvise and have their own "voice" on the guitar
Brilliant lesson, Brian. At first, one gets the impression that this is a beginner's lesson, but the connection between patterns and chord-shapes is always very useful. And this is so much fun to play. Thanks!
The reason I love music so much, and have been playing guitar for years, is because of the man who's hand is on your shirt. Love your channel and have been learning a lot! Thank you so much!
So I just watched another 145 video, just before finding yours, was noodling and found yours Saw the handprint, and I knew I was in the right place...Hey Now!
Just found this channel 3 days ago, & I've already learned more than I did in the last 20 years. Best explanation of how to do fills that I've ever seen. Now if my fingers were long enough to do the shuffle I'd be cooking.
my eyes have been opened, thank you so much! I've been playing guitar for almost 1 year now and finally feel like I am able to improvise, the fretboard looks very different now!
You're an amazing guitar teacher. Been watching like 5 of your videos in a row and that's exactly what I needed to keep learning in progression. Thank you so much for this.
Brian you are truly blessed brother, I'm so glad I am a member of your website, your lessons are pure gold to me. Like I always say thank you for sharing your knowledge and your time.
Outstanding lesson packed with instructions, I'm still absorbing this and to some degree it is an aha moment specifically relating to cord progressions. Thank you Brian!
I agree with the previous commenter. Such a simple concept that I never grasped as easily as this. I've been just jammin' out on my acoustic for the past hour. Thanks!!
Subscriber for yrs however I just stumbled on this one I missed months ago It Dec 2021. This video is proof of your, unstoppable dedication, to unlocking the frustration of the beginner and intermediate player. I'm always influx between the beginner and intermediate player, and that is ok been this way since 1998, when I started guitar. But just following this video your teaching passion just comes out, you keep things simple for the beginner, you speak a little quicker to show the intermediate player application, but you move fast so you don't lose the beginner. Amazing ! And you do this EVERY Week for over ten years...it's really " incredible" and I Thank You Each lesson ,when ever I discover it, it's a gold mine of guitar info.
Brian, I've been following your lessons for a little while and just joined as a premium member. I must say your site is extremely well laid out and easy to follow........ Well done.
Just found this channel and I've only watched a couple videos but I feel like I finally found a teacher that teaches appropriately for my current skill level. It's not beginner and not too advanced. Really digging what I've seen so far and already learned a ton.
As someone with very short fingers, I have found it helpful to play the chuck berry style bass riff, in the Key of G, using the E string and the D string, but muting the A string. I simply let the pad of of my middle finger rest or graze on the A string.
Hi Brian I wish I could of had these lessons years ago I am learning so much from you. Example I remember Paul McCartney's saying in an interview, he was looking for a guy in Liverpool who knew how to make a B7 chord !! Thank you so much Robert
I revisit your lessons many times, because, despite your detail, it's tough to absorb and make happen when I play. I enjoy revisiting CUZ you're so damned smart!
Dear Sir, thank you very much for your time and effort I'am only half the video, and after 10+ year of not playing guitar I find your videos awesome (already got the Travis Picking one done !!!) Can't wait to see whats left on the last part. Little by little Iam remembering a lot of stuff that I forgot! Thank you soo much!!! (sorry for my english, not my natural language)
This is the first time I think I can say I figured out a way to mix chords and lead blues together sounds awesome. You made it look easy to All I have to do is practice practice practice But ty for helping me out I've been playing a long time And really got a lot out of this.lesson and previous ones Great job. Please continue to post thier awesome lessons 👏
Fantastic! It finally makes sense. Maybe I’ll actually be able to play some blues. I still have reading tabs when reading the more advanced songs. If you can read tabs you can reproduce an awesome song. I just learned what the curved line is (bend). Why, however, do some tabs have a darkened base connecting two notes. This whole music thing is so fun. Not just listening but how it all fits.
So absorbed with how this shape sets the anchor points for the 1-4-5 chords. It does help for sure. This knowledge is a great follow up to the vlog Know the Fretboard using the 5th and 6th strings but this takes it to another level using this simple anchor shape. Now I need to start playing this wonderful arrangement. Double bonus.
Thanks for this great lesson, Brian! You are a really great guitar teacher. I appreciate how you connect scales to chords, which makes the positions easier to remember. Your lessons are chock full of light bulb moments! (And I want to thank those who commented about the shirt, because I was curious about that, too!)
When it comes to playing an “E” shaped chord, I often play the “Dominant 7th” because I find it more comfortable. My hands are fairly large and barre chords can cause cramping.
Excellent video. I spent two days just going over and over everything to burn it into my memory and build muscle memory. The only nitpicking little thing was I found the non-conventional fret markers on the neck a bit confusing at times.
Ten seconds in. I'm thinking, instant Dead Cred with that shirt. Ok, on with the show......I can spare 21 minutes to learn something from this dude. Like...where did you get that shirt? Oh wait, that's easy. Playing guitar, now THAT"S hard. Ok, on with the show.....
Man, I've just pick up guitar at 63 and this is so much fun. Thanks !

Basic for those strong handed men who have been playing for decafrs.
Love your Jerry shirt. Thank you for making a video that even a beginner can experience what its like to improvise and have their own "voice" on the guitar
This guy has a way of instruction that can make anyone comprehend
Brilliant lesson, Brian. At first, one gets the impression that this is a beginner's lesson, but the connection between patterns and chord-shapes is always very useful. And this is so much fun to play. Thanks!

Cats out under the stars..

Absolutely the best 21 minutes I've spent on something extremely valuable in a long time. Brilliant and yet so easy to follow! Wow!
Thank you for those of us who never got lessons. That’s enough to last for years of enjoyment. Great teaching too, your kind caring comes across. Rick
love the Jerry hand print shirt!
Bravo... at first I was ? For 45 years I knew this, but then I never knew it quite like this. Simple basics expanded. Nice lesson Brian!
Love this. Thanks!
When you’re blanking for what to play, whether in front of folks or not, this is Super Handy!
Making music built upon simple theory, easy to follow. Great lesson
Absolutely brilliant Brian! Literally months worth of practise, variations and possibilities. Thank you so very much.

This is badly named, underrated, its basically all you need to know to get going properly with the blues, brilliant foundation lesson
kinda, the ppl just need to learn another lesson about the pentatonics and thats it actually and maybe some cool blues licks
@@tommyguitar534”to get going.” From there, virtually endless.
Really good one for everyone trying to play guitar. From beginner to the ones a little more advanced.
Best one of these type of blues lessons I've ever seen.
Thanks!!
Genuinely the most informing and understandable video ever
This is exactly that I need to spend an evening away by myself. Great lesson. Cheers from Indonesia.
Highly inspiring lesson for guitar enthusiasts. Thank you, now and forever for sharing your wisdom on how to make the guitar sing.

Your mind works in amazing ways, Brian! Great lesson, as always! 💕

I thank you for this and the many tutorials you host.
I gave a like for the lesson and a virtual 👍 for the JG shirt.

Fantastic lesson. You are a great teacher.
you're making it a little easier for me as a low intermediate level player, thnx for the help.
Love the way this builds - great stuff Brian. 👍🏻
This is great. I've been stuck in a learning curve between blues country and bluegrass. You are my new fave channel
Coming back to this lesson after a year I understand so much better now. Thx Bri😊
I revisit your lessons many times, because, despite your detail, it's tough to absorb and make happen when I play. I enjoy revisiting CUZ you're so damned smart!

Great lesson Brian yes the light bulb went off 👏 👌 best wishes Colin UK 🇬🇧
Good job, buddy! You simplified what appears clumsy when learning the same concept from music theory point of view.
Beautiful share my friend! Fantastic video. Nice guitar player, wonderful experience.
Have a wonderful day to you!
Great lesson. So much in there to mess around with.
Excellent lesson. Thank you so much, Teacher.
So excellent….wonderful and crucial lesson…… bravo
Great lesson, especially for playing fill licks with simple blues and country licks! Thanks so much!
This is one of the best course i learn ,so cool, thank you Sir. 🙂
For me, this lesson is like a good stew…it’s gonna need to sit (in my head ) another day and it will get better
Superb lesson Brian.....also you played a real classic towards the end of the video 🙏

Very well taught Brian

Dude you're a great teacher . We'll done from Ireland 🇮🇪
I think I’m in love. Thanks for the easy lesson.
What a great lesson, I have been trying to figure out “comping “ ,I believe that’s what is called, voila, light bulb moment, thank you!!!
Always fun, Brian, and always a couple of lightbulbs apoppin’. Looking forward to the Premium follow up. 😁
Hello from Sweden 🇸🇪 I just love your lessons 💕🎵🎸
Thank you .the essence of bouncing between major and minor feelings is in the last part…..
This is great. You are a brilliant teacher! Thanks!
When it comes to playing an “E” shaped chord, I often play the “Dominant 7th” because I find it more comfortable. My hands are fairly large and barre chords can cause cramping.
Such an inspiring lesson... 👏
That’s a very important lesson. Thank you so much☮️❤️
Great lesson Brian. "Oops... I slid into the blues" Lol! Hard to resist the blues when you already there
Brilliant,and inventive lesson Brian.
Excellent video. I spent two days just going over and over everything to burn it into my memory and build muscle memory. The only nitpicking little thing was I found the non-conventional fret markers on the neck a bit confusing at times.
For the shuffle on the G chord, Brian, it is easier to use the second finger instead of the third one when playing down that low.
a light just came on thanks
Thank you, this helps so much, I been stuck in the same place, you rock 🍻
Oh yeah I get the secret now.Thank you ActiveMelody💪💪
Two more👍👍.. This is an excellent video. You have always provided good lessons, but this is one of your best (imo).
wtf .....Probably the best online guitar lesson ever
