    My grandfather always told me about sightings in east Texas. i saw one in north harris county crossing cypress wood close to the green belt and another sighting in brazoria county next to a wildlife bird sanctuary on a surf trip.

    I've yet to see a mountain lion, but I heard one screaming on the ridge behind our tent in Davis Mountains State Park.

      Have you ever heard a gray fox scream? Many people think they're hearing mountain lions or bobcats when in fact they are gray foxes. You can Google gray fox vocalizations for a sample.

    They are every where these days. Add matagorda county to the list. What did people think would happen when you keep building in their terrain leaving them nothing but residential neighborhood pets.

      Correct me if I'm wrong but it could have been a bobcat

      Guillerno Torres: At night, I hear, the mountain lions come looking for pets that are left outside in the suburbs. Usually cats stay around the house and wait at a door to be let in in the morning. I saw a picture of a mountain lion jumping easily over a fence to from one back door to the next house's back door. The picture caught him easily jumping over the fence that separated the 2 houses. Then I had a dream, or vision of a cat that had been killed near it's back door and the cat's stomach contents only
      had been eaten. Do you know why that was the only part eaten by the mountain lion? Bc the lion was practically full from eating other pets in the neighborhood. I would never leave my pet outside at night since mountain lions are nocturnal predators.

    Poor thing was in the most stressful time if its life. I hope the 'research' was worth it.

    • @yaspicyboy5430
      @yaspicyboy5430 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sorry that that they sedated and made sure the lions were well fed and made sure that they weren't sick, injured, or had a disease which could have made them suffer. I am also sorry the "research" was also used to be sure how well the population was and to check wether there was something they needed to do to help. Even though it was stressful it will help them in the long run but hey I'm sorry if this hurts your special self

    Is it wise to chase a female mountain lion with cubs and separate her from them? What about if she doesn't come back to search for her cub? The cub will surely die.

    Their in kentucky as well , but the wildlife officials for years lied about it..Why? Because they don't want the public to know their the ones doing the releasing... I've seen them on 3 occassions in eastern kentucky, and i'm not the only one either...

    I know that the State of Texas will never admit it but there are still panthers in east Texas. Me and three other people have seen twice and heard at least three times a solid black cougar in Wood County out side of Pine Mills Texas. I know of others who ave seen solid black panthers in Rusk county Texas as well. The state denies it, and I do not give a damn. I know what I have seen and I sure as hell know what I have heard. It is a very scary sound in the middle of the night camping.

    To see one in the wild must feel like a chance of a lifetime. I’ve only encountered black bear in the Chisos. I’ve lived all throughout the western US and never ran I. To bear anywhere else. But never m. lions and maybe that’s a good thing haha

      Mr.L.A. - Commanche and Apache Indians were both common in the Big Bend area. In fact, the Commanche Trail ran through Big Bend into Mexico where the Indians would do raids to steal livestock and whatever else they needed.. There are pictographs (cave paintings) at the hot spring in Big Bend that are easy to see.

    Hey tpwd, yall should set up your vids to release once a day instead of the burst method of releasing many on the same day. You would get more views that way. Also why no ads? I support your conservation efforts and the money however minute that ads would get you could be used to make more vids or go into the general fund. just a thought

    I think it’s sad they leave the cub that’s still dependent on it’s mother in the hopes the mother comes back one of them should watch from a distance to make sure because if it’s not reunited the cub will probably die it’s still learning how to survive/hunt etc at that age

    I use a scoop to pick up cat scats from my litterbox. Isn't it a bit unwise to pick up a scat with bare hands, esp a fairly fresh one, with nowhere to wash? Maybe Texans don't know any better?

  • @redsammy7789
    @redsammy7789 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Why not just protect them and leave them alone, They hope the mother cat comes back my bet she might then smells the humans and that collar and leaves the kitten doing more harm than good.

    • @discojelly
      @discojelly 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      RedSammy, This is the objective in which this team intends to do. Protection varies from state to state. However.. IF one does encounter a Mountain lion and is placed in a life or death situation, you have full legal right to stand your ground.
      The mother cat will not care that much about the collar. They have used this method in many states and it has not been a problem with the cat family or hinder its behavior or relationship with other cats. The info gained from these collars and catagorizing allows us to keep tabs on the lion numbers and whether those numbers are growing or decreasing.

  • @frankblangeard8865
    @frankblangeard8865 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The biologists should also have radio collars put on them.
