  • We began our day walking around Beaufort, NC and enjoying a delicious breakfast. Working while traveling around America's Great Loop meant that we left Beufort later than we had hoped. We traversed through Adam's Cut on our way to Oriental, NC. While we crossed the Neuse River at sunset, we found two 18 year old's in the middle of the very choppy Neuse River, one of whom was in need of help. Watch the episode to see how it turned out.
    Cheers from the Loop,
    Jennifer and Elliot

    ABOUT US
    Hi! We are high school sweethearts from Atlanta, Georgia who decided to take a year off to travel around the world. Together we decided to create vlogs for our journey as a fun way to remember it. On September 15, 2019, we left Atlanta with 3 bags, 2 one-way tickets, and 1 goal of traveling for a whole year. Little did we know, 6 months later we would find ourselves in a nationwide lockdown in India. After spending 5 months in India, we came back to the United States and decided to purchase a 34’ Trawler, dive head first into boat life, and kick off America’s Great Loop.
    The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem.
    Thank you for following us along our journey!

    Way to go helping the kayakers! As two kayakers that once got into a bad and scary situation, having strangers help us meant the world and saved us big time!

    Hi - I am going back through your episodes for the 2nd time. This is maybe more enjoyable than the first time. I'm looking at your tour of BOA-fort (Beauford, NC), our family has deep connections to both Beauforts. Thanks for all of this.

      For sure! I think 18 year old boys are sometimes naive to how dangerous some situations are… but they are both safe and that’s what’s important!

    Even though it takes extra time, it always feels good to help someone out. I've had to tow others and be towed a number of times.

    Notice that many kayaks today have open tops. That's because so many kayakers drowned in the old-style when your legs might get trapped inside the boat.

    I've enjoyed watching your early adventures 1 thru 9 and I can't go on any further without asking how is it a young couple like yourselves can do all the pre-loop traveling and then buy and travel via motor yacht without even the basic knowledge needed to do the Loop? Silver spoon millennials? Lotto winners? Bank robbers? I've worked my entire life for over 40 years and still can only hope for such a dream as what you have accomplished.

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I think you have two different questions Edward - how did we start without the knowledge and how can we afford to! For the first, we feel that the best way to learn is to just dive straight in and learn by failure - so that’s how we got started. For the second we are both extremely fortunate… not lotto winners or bank robbers though 😂 We focused on paying off out debt right after undergrad and basically just started saving money. It helps that Elliot’s training is in software engineering which he can do remotely (good for boat life) and is very much in demand. The last couple years have been times of feast and famine, times when consulting and we save a lot and times like now where we only have some minor income from TH-cam and are just living off a small savings. Fortunately doing a lot of boat work ourselves saves money and otherwise living on the water there aren’t too many expenses! We are happy to have you join our journey! And hope your dreams come true!
