Hey thanks everyone for the comments. Didn't really expect this video to get this many views. I didn't say much about the trip because I didn't know how much I was allowed to film or say, so I just made a highlight video primarily for me and the family to reflect to. I know it doesn't really explain much other than we civilian employees get to spend a small period of time on a ship to see what the sailors do for a living. The experience was a once in a lifetime opportunity. There are a lot of other videos out there that better explains these Navy vessels that also passed the Department of the Navy Public Affairs approval.
I'm a plank owner of that ship. Took it out of Pascagoula, MS back in 1995 on our way to home port of pearl harbor. HI. Did a west Pac in 96 spent a lovely (not) 3 months in the Gulf. Saw some nice countries also. Great video, thanks for the memories!
Been there done that on the U.S.S. Lockwood FF-1064 in Yokosuka Japan from ''81 to ''83. I was a young ''snipe'' that went from ""R'' division to ''A''Gang the scenes with the helo on the flight deck gives me flashbacks from when I was on the refueling team!! We used to chase Russian subs around the Pacific.....lol.
I was a Gunner's mate on FF1041 and DDG994, both out of San Diego. 84-89. Did a Rimpac, two Westpacs, operation Earnest Will 1988 in the Persian Gulf and a two month Alaska cruise in 1988.
Must be nice to go on an underway with a destroyer. Haha been on one for 6 months and haven’t gone anywhere yet. I know people who haven’t been underway for two years now.
I can see my bald-headed brother Alan did not do much. LOL. I always tell him, the Aircraft Carrier are real Ships. Thanks for the video, always love watching Navy in action
Its kinda frightening to imagine the level of damage an antiship missile can do. One hit could severely cripple the capabilities of the ship. Truely terrifying.
Yeah aye it’s terrifying to think how modern naval warfare would go like imagine being in a formation and the vessel in front gets hit below the super structure and comes out the water and cracks and twist
Wow a zodiac. When did those become standard issue. When I was in Navy, just the co’s boat and the xo’s boat. Used the xo’s for man overboard drill. And women on board. WTF.

Good narrative editing on this! Story told, few words needed.

You’re right. Not a boat. But they do on a ship.
I spent 2 and 1/2 on this specific ship
