I think I'm similar to you in that I also play pretty aggressively so I'll definitely have to check out how the autopistol feels for me personally. I think Veteran having 75% more ammo is just fine. It should be THE ranged class and the main source of Suppression for your team.

The pistols have a place and the autos got a recent buff so as a vet you can only close to mid range with a nade build
