    My first set of countertops (3) were in copper. People don't believe you when you tell them it's hand made. I never did a practice run, dove right in because Mike's videos made it look so easy. And it was... with Stonecoat Countertop Epoxy!

      Can it be done over an old Formica laminate top? I am guessing that you have to somehow dam the edges. Tape? Bet yours came out great

    • @danieljarvis9117
      @danieljarvis9117 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      People have done it over all sorts of surfaces including glass and stainless. Prep is key. Yes, you have to dam the edges and take advantage of the curing times. Follow this channel, they cover every contingency.

After watching a few of your videos, I think I know what I want to do when I grow up. LOL....I'm 66 and about to retire. 😂 That being said, my passion is designing and creating DIY unique items for family & friends. To supplement my Soc. Sec. income, I know what I will be doing in my spare time. 😂.
    Thank you for sharing the process. I know I can do this but I have 1 question: How do you finish the edges/sides that will face outward & show? What prevents the epoxy from "dripping down the side" of what you are making? Do you have a video that explains this procedure? For example, I want to make someone a "cutting board with a natural stone look but has a purple "river" running thru the middle of the piece? Is a mdf "jig or template" created if I am wanting to make a dozen of cutting board?
    Just a video that shows step by step on how to start the project from scratch to the final piece.
    My dad taught me everything from construction to plumbing to electrical, etc. He passed in 2020 before I found your channel. Oh how I wish he could have see your work and end results! He would have said: "Well damn-it, Fefi (FeeFee) we have to do this!"
    I hope you see this and respond. Thank you in advance.

    Would be starting off with an awful black formica countertop that resembles granite.
    Should I entirely apply black epoxy, then the copper and rust or can I skip that step?
    At the end, does one have to apply a clear coat over the finished product, after applying the copper with rust highlights? If so, what's drying time in between and afterwards?
    Cool, cool ideas. Great video. You make it look so understandable and within reach to a novice.

      Great Question! When going over laminate or other smooth countertops: Step 1 - Clean and degrease with TSP. Step 2 - Sand surface with 100 grit sandpaper and clean dust. Step 3 - fill seam and any damage with Bondo then sand flat. Step 4 - apply a thin coat of Bonding Primer let dry. Step 5 - Apply epoxy undercoat paint in black, 2 coats let dry. Step 6 - YOU ARE POURING EPOXY! Let me know if you have any questions. We also have a few videos showing how to go over existing surfaces TH-cam An AMAZING Epoxy Exotic Pour Over Kitchen Countertops | Stone Coat Countertops Epoxy
