Sort of annoying that the 10 LP box gives you the small book. For some of the content it doesn't matter but I'd rather have the larger book for the full page photos and double page spreads.
As others have said Blondie is a US band you should have got the US first pressings not the UK. You might as well have got the German first pressing instead of the UK that most likely would have saved some money. I hope you get the original US pressings in the future to compare. That would be much better.
UK pressings at their best are considered by a lot of audiophiles to be superior to anything else. This is the rule in classical recordings - not sure about pop.
@@LPCLASSICAL It is a mixed bag with different artist and releases. Some force me to get both such as The Specials US pressing which has a shorter version of Too Much Too Young which I don't think it is as good as the UK pressing but The US ver. has Gangsters which is a must have song. So I have both. My point about Blondie is that the native first pressing is the US. I would like to hear that comparison. For example Nina Hagen's Fearless I would like to hear the German first pressing compared to what ever. As other pressings can be very different such as the US again in this case. The other thing is you got to use the right needle for the right album. I have so many great sounding first US pressings of rock, soul and blues from the 50's that can't be beat for my ears. Certainly a great box. But: To what extent does such an expensive release still have anything to do with the originals? Is it actually just a repeated monitarianization of a long-gone pop epoch? Don't get me wrong: Of course, many of the Blondie albums are still great today. But doesn't the luxury expressed by the box fundamentally contradict the roots of this music? Of course, pop always has something to do with surface and glamor. But the glamor that this box exudes seems rather pastiche to me. Instead of presenting the world as an open, emotionally charged future, such boxes invite you to bathe in nostalgia. Nothing against boxes, but they should be linked as directly as possible to the original process of creating the music. This is actually only possible when releasing new music. Everything else is museum-like at best. Just a few personal thoughts.
It's print on cardboard, I can't believe how much grown adults get their jollies over a piece of printed brown cardboard. You guys would probably buy and keep pizza boxes if they printed David Bowie on them
The triple cd is a better option but it's already too dear. I never play any of the 6 cds. Only bone or two singles on all of them except parallel lines. Too many singles notion albums. Greatest hits cds are brilliant. Too little, too late for me.
Come on Michael, so much money for vinyl CD's.. So it has a nice book and fancy box, big deal. Amazes me why you buy this crap. Originals are the way to go. All of Blondie's original pressings sound stellar. Wake up my friend.
Blondie were a bit of a mix.... American/British Band. Debbie and Chris were American but keyboard player, Bass player and drummer were English. I'm only familiar with "Parallel Lines" & "Eat to the Beat" as i bought them both when they were released at the end of the 70s. Both albums were recorded in the USA and probably cut to lacquer there too. People think of them as an English band because those two albums sold as many copies in the UK (if not more) than they did in the US.... quite remarkable considering the differing size of the population between the two countries. So i'm not sure why you need a UK pressing? It's not like the 1980 album "Kings of the Wild Frontier - by Adam and the Ants" that contained different tracks on the American version in relation to the UK pressing.
@@chni1 Interesting... i often wonder if the variation we get from vinyl is only some what to do with 1st release, re-release etc... but also pot luck of whether you get a pressing made at the start of the life of the stamper or... towards the end of the life of the stamper. I believe a stamper is only good for around 1000 pressings before you have to go back to the Mother to make another Stamper. I remember in the UK during the 80s, i would go to the Virgin Record Store to buy records. You had the chance to listen before you buy in a listening booth. I would use the same numbered booth with the same headphones every week so to keep a good reference. I would take in 3 albums, one that i already owned (as a reference) and two that i would be interested in buying. I would buy the better sounding one of the two. However, from time to time... on the following week, i may also take in the one that i didn't buy from the previous week. I have vivid memories of listening to "Smell of Female" by "The Cramps" for about 5 weeks running until i found the one that blew me away. I guess i'll never know why there was such variation.
@@markyexley9440 Drummer? OK, didn't know... he's still a cracking drummer though... We can excuse him for being American... However, i don't feel he was done any justice by whoever engineered "Eat to the Beat." The snare has to much reverb and is too low in the mix... not so on Parallel Lines.... dry and tight with the bass. Real kick ass drumming that gives the album punch.
Hmmm....so the Blondie vinyl box set is cut from digital which is in your own words "great" but recent Mobile Fidelity vinyl releases that are cut from analogue-DSD-analogue is totally outrageous and they are "Liars!" and you're done with them. That is so interesting! So who is the fraud here?

Nothing against boxes, but they should be linked as directly as possible to the original process of creating the music. This is actually only possible when releasing new music. Everything else is museum-like at best. Just a few personal thoughts.
Original are not from USA.
i think so too
Originals are USA re country of origin. All these albums were recorded in the USA and they formed in NYC.
My opinion is get rid of the box set and buy original at all times
Yes, Parallel Lines and Eat To The Beat were mastered by Steve Hall.
The first two albums were mastered by Greg Calbi at Sterling.
Clem Burke is not British.
So who was the English Keyboard player? because Jimmy Destri is from Brooklyn.
I wouldnt buy this on any format. Cds will scratch easily. I have the originals on album , tapes and cds ,then on cds with bonus tracks.
He’s a bore! He needs to show more.
Great Stuff. I adore. Thanks for The Video Michael
