    "Rape jokes are never funny!!" they say.
    Actually no.
    ...This makes a commentary, and makes the discussion around the subject funny. A+ Amy Schumer.
    Edit: I say this as a survivor of sexual assault and as a feminist. Good comedy allows us to make social commentary on the darkest things and lets us laugh about them. These jokes were at the expense of rapists, not victims, which is important as well.

    I served as a juror on a rape trial. Everyone on the jury agreed the defendant was guilty except one man who kept blaming the women and making excuses for the man. He had the same mentality these football players had. I don't know what it is about rape that makes people blame the victim.

    Fantastic concept, and hilariously pulled off. This is spot on in showing how not just the players are the problem, but even bigger, the parents and townspeople and their acceptance of 'boys being boys'. Anyone that thinks this skit is wrong needs to either reexamine their POV, or gain some IQ points. This is spot on.

    • @NorthHollywood
      @NorthHollywood 9 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      fauxwoe "Defending rapists?" "Way to represent your gender"
      What do you mean? Our gender is the most hated in the world, isnt it? lol. I, a man, know rape is wrong and I also know committing a crime is wrong which is why I dont do neither. But a criminal commits crime even when he knows it is wrong and a rapist rapes even when he knows it is wrong. I dont like this piece because im not sure what its motive is. Telling people rape is bad? Amy Schumer raped a man in college so hard he was "passing out" at points. You can tell people crime is bad but some will still do it.

    • @joetaylor5803
      @joetaylor5803 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      fauxwoe I don't think they hate the video. They hate the message. The message is that all men (all of them) need to unlearn rape. Forgive me for asking this, but if this message was directed to women, wouldn't you find that rather insulting? "Good job bros". You've smeared an entire sex in shit with that one sentence. So what can we do? What is the answer? I don't know. But believing that all men need to be taught that rape is bad is a tremendous insult. It just is. That you don't know this is mind boggling.

    • @papawheely4137
      @papawheely4137 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I'm offended by the idea that feminist idiots like Amy Schumer really think that boys needs to be told not to rape. It's already a fucking felony, boys are more than capable of taking the hint. If anyone doesn't take rape being a felony that can land you in jail for a very long time as a hint to not do it then you telling them they shouldn't will do nothing to dissuade them at all.

      fauxwoe "You know it's good when you can tell it hit a sore spot with 80% of the males in the comments. . . . Are you... [sic] Defending rapists? Is that what you're doing? Good job bros. Way to represent your gender."
      Oh come on, that is shockingly poor reasoning. There are videos that have men calling women manipulative bitches, and pretty much every woman commenting on those videos is freaking out, criticizing the man and telling him his video sucks. If you are logically consistent (that's a funny thought), you are then necessarily saying that these women are defending manipulative bitches. Would you defend that assertion? Would it be appropriate for me to then say that because the video hit a sore spot with these women, it must be good? I hardly think so.
      I know my life better than you. Aren't feminists always saying something about not denying their lived experiences? According to my lived experience, I know, without anyone having to tell me, that it is wrong to rape. The only people who don't know this are sociopaths, and they don't give a damn about right and wrong.
      It wouldn't have been so bad, but you ask a question and then not only do you answer it yourself without knowing the real reason or getting any feedback from men, you then insult men based on your specious reasoning. You are ignorant, arrogant, and your logic is appalling.
      EDIT: Before anyone responds, I want to be clear that nothing is beyond humor, and I frankly don't really have a problem with the video. I have a problem with Amy Schumer's ideology in general, but again, I don't think anything is beyond humor. However, people will get offended by anything that targets a group they belong to. In this case, as it is aimed at football players, it is targeting males exclusively, and men are responding to the rhetoric that vilifies them.
      Also, football players definitely do get away with rape more often, and it is a tragedy. Still, that doesn't mean it is acceptable to denigrate all males because they don't like being told they are all rapists and pedophiles (shocker).

    Hilarious when Amy's wine glass got bigger & bigger.
    It's rather insightful & brilliant to have used comedy to address the taboo subject of team sport athletes commonly being excused for being physically & sexually violent to others, even encouraged.
    As one who has worked in the field of domestic violence, rape, and hate crimes, there has been an acceptance of this behavior, a culture of "boys will be boys." I'm also a survivor of all these traumas, as a child and as an adult. I'm blessed to have lived through it all, healing, and able to offer other sufferers empathy & a path to follow, for recovery.
    The perpetrator and victim dynamics are more complex, than people realize. It is a function of disconnection, and using power & control addiction to fill the void.
    Bless those whom may be suffering; may we wake up and realize what harms one, weakens all.
    Excellent, as always, Amy.

But I will say that the best way to make a "rape joke" is to make a joke at the expense of the rapist. Don't make fun of the victim, make fun of the perpetrator(s).

Also, there are many people who think rape should be legal on private property, people who think rape in marriage doesn't exist, and many countries where rape isn't recognized as a crime. So yes, many people do not know that rape is bad.

    The crazy thing is that the speech he told the players at the end is the reason why they feel entitled to rape women. "Football is about violently dominating anyone that stands between you and what you want. You got to get yourselves into the mindset that you are gods and you're entitled to this. That other team isn't just going lay down and give it to you, you have to go out there and take it." Literally the direct mindset that lead to men (and especially athletes) thinking that they are owed sex from girls. Amy and her writers are so brilliant. They did such a good job with this sketch.
