I'm not a country fan and stumbled across this by accident. I have heard many covers of this song, and this one is really, really good. Probably the best I've heard. It really captures a sadness and melancholy in the lyrics, the end of summer. The tempo and humble production values of this version is just perfect.

I really hate it that you do this song with such emotion. 50 years ago on a sandy beach in Florida I met the girl I wanted to spend forever with. We were both young and reality forced me to enlist in the Army. I did it all. Infantry, Airborne Paratrooper, Special Forces. Combat action. We drifted apart and she left me for another guy. When I came home she was gone. I keep moving but I'm empty inside. This song is the dagger in my heart and you killed it. Great cover to move me like you did. I'm so glad we don't live forever. Sunrise on the beach is ...... What can I say ? Quiet except for the whispering wind. 🌎
Trust me , she didn’t leave you , God removed that poison from your life and took you places and let you gain experiences to prepare you for life . Women like her are a dime a dozen looking for the next best thing as soon as you’re not in view . Just be you and put that experience in your emotional toolbox . You’ll know the moment you meet your real soulmate , I did . Took me until 6 years ago , and I’m now 49 . Best 6 years of my life and she’s my wife now almost 4 years . Thanks for your service 🇺🇸. Got dang, what's the algorithm doing to me? I don't think I've heard a version of this that captures the bittersweet underneath the song as well as this one....summer fading fast, lost love, memory, melancholy, hopefulness. About as good an interpretation as I've ever heard. You got a future brother JM!
As a massive Eagles & Don Henley fan, I’ve listened to hundreds of covers of this song over the years. You’ve definitely put your own stamp on it and it’s very very good.

Great job . I'm 55 years old and I have wondered how that song would flow if slowed down and some emotions could be exposed. Looks like you guy's nailed it.
If the dude singing looks like he knows a guy that can get you a sweet deal on a used transmission for a Camaro, you KNOW it's gonna be some solid Country music.
does you sniffing farts, result in you being a terf climate change warrior, or is it that you told john carrey to stop jet setting, he didn't listen, you jested, and then you were culled by saint gretta, who said how dare you to the rest of us? seems like you wanted a beef to have, one that couldn't be eaten, air that was in play, yet couldn't be quelled. dying man, from any way you could grift upon, and now we are back to the point of recognition. none of us have died or will.

This the saddest song I've ever heard. I remember when the 1984 Don Henley version came out. I didn't realize how sad this song was until John covered it. It's really sad. There is hope in it but I'm not sure how much.
The best Cover I've ever heard and also the other songs are absolutely amazing. This guy I wanna see on top of the Countrycharts. Greetings from Germany ❤ 3:53
I keep listening to this. I'm never a big fan of covers, but this has changed me. He had made such subtle little changes, that makes the song hit differently, and gives me a very different feeling. I always liked the song, but this version seems so much more personal to me. I knew John only as a songwriter for awhile, a great songwriter. The performer now is growing on me. I honestly don't think his voice or vocals are anything exceptional. There are a lot of people with voices and vocals. This song is incredible. Friends like that is very different, but it makes me feel a certain way too. John has cemented himself a place in this music scene. Now he's on his way to elevating himself up through the ranks. In country music, I think the few 5 greats standout far above a very crowded group in the middle of guys that were/are good. It's hard to separate from others that were all good. John writes and performed, which means a lot. I'll be cheering him on and supporting him however I can to boost him to that next level.
I’m a big fan of Don Henley and country music. The fact that he brought them together in this beautiful rendition of this timeless song just made me smile. I subscribed immediately after hearing the first few chords of the intro. I can’t say how many times I’ve listened to this.
