Also, you can't use it in school, and since music is taken down on TH-cam, it leaves me listening to sonic music or using Internet Archive (not complaining about Sonic).
Probably because the post launch songs are being part of a separate CD album release called Ordertune. Perhaps they are waiting for that to release in December before putting it on Nintendo music.
-Splatoon only got an incomplete S3 soundtrack -No Xenoblade (wasn’t even teased in the trailer) -No F-Zero -Only one Fire Emblem -TWO Zeldas -Why Star Allies, of all Kirby games??? -One game added per week -Shitty performance on my phone -They didn’t bother crediting the composers Why did people settle for this?
All mainline Xenoblade OST's have been officially released (IDK about X) but yeah, all the other things you mentioned are pretty much valid criticisms.
Nintendo: charges way too much money to listen their music, creates an iffy app for their music, and constantly takes down their reuploaded music from youtube.... Me: just downloads them and uploads them on my own channel, and sets them to private
In Smash Ultimate, you can see the credits for each song. I imagine that if Nintendo owns the rights to the song/remix then it'll be okay for them to upload. Otherwise, yeah they may not be uploaded onto it
In Nintendo Music, you can’t see the credits for any song. Also having the right to include a song in a video game and the right to distribute the song via streaming are different rights that are usually negotiated separately
The alarm clock is an odd release, but several people have been asking Nintendo to make their music officially available to stream for years. Nintendo is most likely waiting until next year to formally announce the Switch successor since they still have a few more first-party releases for the predecessor going into early 2025. Nintendo knows that we're waiting. What's wrong with them releasing smaller things to keep fans busy until then?
@ My friend said that so maybe I missed it but it doesn’t feel like they’ve mentioned it much; then again, i mainly watch the youtube videos/announcements do maybe missed it on social media
4:29 - To those who are wondering the same thing, there is one company out there who claims to be under the permission of Nintendo. This company is trying their best to take down every single TH-cam channel that uploaded Nintendo rips raw by giving BIG copyright strikes instead of blocks like Nintendo usually do. The current main targets of this are Smash Ultimate and also Pokémon gens 4-9's OSTs. This purgery has gotten so bad that some people have to private or delete their stuff, which Odyssey is technically right about that.
And side note, the "Battle! (Trainer Battle) (Pokemon X / Y)" remix actually originated in Smash 4, so you can still download it and use it. (surprising to see ZakkroMD being mentioned in a big TH-camr's video)
There absolutely ARE legal issues with getting Smash Bros. and Pokémon onto NSO. For Smash Bros., you mention how it doesn't have any third-party characters. And you are technically correct, but what Smash 64 does have is a third-party ITEM. Specifically, the Motion-Sensor Bomb. In all future Smash games, it features a Smash-original design, but in Smash 64, it comes from Perfect Dark. Though, granted, we did recently get Perfect Dark on NSO, so that issue should be at least partially alleviated now. For Pokémon, Nintendo only owns one-third of it, they are also owned by both Game Freak and Creatures. Even when they came to 3DS Virtual Console... which was SIGNIFICANTLY after they stopped adding stuff to 3DS Virtual Console otherwise... they had a lot done to them to make them stand out compared to other VC games: a higher price tag, multiplayer support, compatibility with Pokémon Home, and no suspend points. These are likely things that Game Freak and/or Creatures insisted on, which may be more difficult (or even impossible) to do on NSO.
One theory I’ve heard from a friend is that Nintendo could use the app to market new games. This can be done in 2 ways: 1. Releasing some selected songs similar to Wave 5 of the Booster Course Pass. 2. Releasing OSTs from other entries in a series in celebration of a new entry or remaster of an old entry. For example, they could release a lot of Xenoblade OST to coincide with the rerelease of Xenoblade Chronicles X.
Same for me with Mario & Luigi RPGs, like wtf did celextyn v2 and splatmeggy do to you nintendo? I kinda doubt they're ever putting the partners in time soundtrack on the app at least within the decade yet they're removing nearly all of it from TH-cam.
Not evert song from each game has actually been added unfortunately. For example the app only has splatoon 3 songs up until the first wave of the expansion pass dlc and doesn't have any songs after that. I did notice that the app uses the version of splatoon songs found on the overpriced cds (basically just adding endings to some songs instead of lopping them) which is a nice touch
Agreed. 1:00 unfortunately it isn’t “literally everything.” For instance, I just finished listening to DKC2 on the app, and it doesn’t have every variation of Diddy and Dixie’s victory and failure jingles. Metroid Prime seemed to be missing some material too, but I can’t put my finger on it. Oh yeah, and since Mario Kart 8 is your on-screen example, that one doesn’t seem to include the “In First Place” variants of any tracks, nor does it include “Final Lap” sped up versions. I for one would love access to all four variations of every track in MK8D’s OST in this app, somehow. I have a lot of other complaints about this app too, as an expert Spotify power user.
Beyond the lack of credits and poor spread of what songs can be extended (NONE of the pokemon songs...??), the fact that they're doing this instead of proper OST releases is just... frustrating. Especially when series like Splatoon and Pokemon have been getting CD releases of their games' soundtracks in Japan as recently as... this year! Its really just the same problem as the nintendo online games: we want to Own things. I want to own old games, I want to own old soundtracks. Having the OPTION to stream them via a subscription isn't bad! But there also not being an option to just outright buy the games' OSTs is deflating. I really, really hope in the future they consider making the offerings in the music app purchasable in some way. Also, fun fact: Kirby Planet Robobot's ost is on Spotify. Dunno why!
You say that every song is here, but Splatoon 3 is missing half of its songs. Splatoon has my favorite OSTs right next to Sonic, Pokémon, Undertale, and Deltarune.
This app made me so hopeful and unbelievably excited upon launch after a literal decade of struggling with Nintendo's horrid insistance to delete their music off youtube while providing absolutely 0 viable alternatives to listen to their incredible music. But then. An absolutely laughable catalogue. And an extension feature. That arbitrarily excludes perfectly beautifully loopable songs. And Nintendo continues to strike channels on a near weekly basis for songs not available on the app. I’m so tired man
Honestly my biggest complaint is the lack of composers being credited. It’s kinda gross imo on how they’ve made playlists for the in universe Splatoon bands, but not the actual composers that have composed the songs. TH-cam videos have done a better job crediting composers than the official music app, which honestly rubs me the wrong way.
Apparently that has to do with Japanese work culture where people don't care much about being credited for their work. Though I do think this is very sad for western composers like David Wise
I'm glad that out of all the kirby games they could have added they chose kirby star allies, it has a good soundtrack to begin with but also includes lots of songs from past kirby games.
I think the most underrated portion of the app is the quality of the music. It seems much higher than everything else we’ve heard, which gives me SIGNIFICANT hope that games like super paper Mario that are stuck at a lower bitrate, could be added. That would validate the app for me.
@@RiqMoran Nope. You are wrong. 320 kbps (kilobits per second) is one of the highest quality rates in standard lossy audio formats. Comparison: Amazon Music: 256 kbps, Bandcamp: 128 kbps, Deezer: 128 and 320 kbps, Pandora: 64 kbps and192 kbps, SoundCloud: 128 kbps and 256 kbps, Spotify: 128 kbps and 320 kpbs, Tidal: 160 kbps and lossless, TH-cam Music: 256 kbps
On the other hand, I’ve heard some people disappointed that the OSTs for certain systems don’t mimic the bitrate of that system. NES games sound like they’re being played on an NES, and they even included the FDC enhanced Metroid soundtrack separately
@@RiqMoran 320kbit/s is fine actually. The Problem is the source Material. For example, the base tracks in MK8 have a sampling rate of 32kHz! Its as Bad as in Game, despite Mario kart 8 having a CD Ost with superior quality! Its beyond dissapointing to see that this exceptional bad quality got into the app
I think its also annoying that they dont upload the whole ost at once like there is still the paldea gym leader theme , about 4/5 of the splatoon 3 ost and all the last lap songs from mario kart missing Edit: the gym leader theme is there but for some reason paired with the "when trainers eyes meet gym leader" theme
I've tried it a bit, I'd say there's some ups and downs. You can loop music, you can download stuff, it has a good ui. Although there could be some more games, the loop is a bit weird (according to some people), and smash ultimate not being there is a crime (legal issues, probably). But the thing is, it's free with switch online. They didn't have to make it, but they still did.
My biggest issue is the fact that when u pause it it never remembers where u were in a song and often if theres gap in pauses it makes me close out and reopen the app Its a cool thing tho
My absolute BIGGEST problem with Nintendo music that you didn’t mention, is the Splatoon soundtrack. They have a whopping zero post launch songs on there, even excluding huge events like side order or grandfest. Not to mention zero songs from 1 or 2 (even though they said 2 would be coming later)
There are actually legitimately only 3 post launch songs, which are the Squid Sister’s tracks from the first wave of DLC. So it almost feels like they are planning on releasing it later for some stupid reason, cause they obviously didn’t completely forget about the post launch songs if there’s still a few to be found.
@@jaymatt2831 the "stupid reason" is that the soundtrack on the app is taken from the CD release and they haven't released the CD album with the other songs yet
groovy long legs' music from pikmin 4 is composed of several short segments (seriously, there's 66 of them in the folder), and all the rips on youtube are incorrectly assembled versions of the song. Afaik, I'm really the only person that can tell if that song was correctly assembled or not, but I don't have a NSO subscription, and I sure as hell ain't gonna buy one just to check the song in the music app. Given this, we'd be able to tell if the song was actually a new render made for this app specifically, or if they downloaded the track from youtube and slapped it on the app.
All of the 3ds system music could be its own category. System setup, settings, INTERNET MUSIC, all of the eShop soundtracks, ALL of it. That isn't even touching the _games._
I DO hope they add new games soon on Nintendo Music. Here is my wish list: * Super Mario Galaxy 2 * Super Mario 3D World * Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze * Mario Party Superstars * Super Mario Party Jamboree
mf do you know how strict nintendo is with it's music being uploaded to youtube? now it'll be way harder trying to find those songs on youtube because of this app
Some songs get such original titles like in pikmin we have battling a strong creature, battling a stronger creature and battling an even stronger creature
Ok bro I will NOT be accepting this Ice Climbers slander. The soundtrack is an absolute masterpiece of music and it's truly a shame it's not included. Don't even get me started on the gameplay loop- I got so addicted that I let the people in my basement starve since I forgot to feed them. NEVER talk bad about it again.
@chanderule605 I know those people have to pay for the subscription. I was just referring to how, right now, they are receiving a new service in addition to an existing subscription for which they were already paying (which could be argued is a free addition until the next payment). If they are continuing the subscription, then they have knowingly paid for the music service. That's what I meant. Feel free to disagree.
I did like listening to the tracks, especially how they organize the songs into what levels there from which can make things so easy. Unfortunately I think there is some inconsistency for new drops because I just found out they added dkc2 and just dkc2. I’d prefer they stockpile a good number then make a video about it like with the new game drops for there online service
Even if I had a subscription to there online service, I´d very much be annoyed at not being able to listen to these songs together with what I usually listen to. I have pretty long playlists on Spotify and it´s just sad that all the Nintendo music can´t be in there.
Honestly, the amount of games repped in the by app is disappointingly low, and having new titles release periodically is a really weird decision especially since they’re not using that time to make sure each track is properly credited to its composer/arranger. Going by the app’s current design, there’s no reason they couldn’t have released with all international developed modern games, and more first party titles for legacy platforms especially considering how many NES/SNES games are already available on NSO.
I think it would be amazing if instead of weekly, they released game tracks every 3-5 days Also oh my god they added skyward sword I love that game so much, Now I can make an anxiety playlist that includes the guardian tracks from botw and ss!!!
as a person that cant afford nintendo online, this app seems to be really bad for the price youre paying. and thats not even counting in the lack of games.
On the topic of music getting taken down, about a day or so before the app was announced, one of the major Splatoon 3 Side Order playlists got all but two songs copyright stricken, causing the uploaded to hide them.
Some specific soundtrack uploaders they've struck I've noticed are Aacro Extensions, Official VGM Archive, Celextyn V2, and SplatMeggy. It's extremely annoying
Some other games music that were getting taken down were Pokemon Channel and Mystery Dungeon, or Skyward Sword, I noticed a ton not working on my moobot playlist a while back. On the bright side, having a clean and easy way to record normal, 15 min, 30 min, and hour long versions of these songs means there will be a LOT more rips of them on youtube going forward.
My main gripe is the boring ahh UI/HUD. It’s literally a reskin if TH-cam music and Spotify’s ui. Would be cool if we can change it to look like wii channels or something
smash ultimate has like over 300 remixes alone, and probably some more 100 or so tracks for the game(menu, training mode, etc), then jingles like the victory themes, jingles from obscure/rarely accessed modes, and it starts to pile up very quickly. Maybe this is why they didn't add it to the app.
My main criticism is requiring the NSO membership. I have never paid for it and luckily my friend is sharing his acct with me but this is a big turn off for people who don't have one or a friend who has one.
Can't you already listen to Smash Ultimate's soundtrack through the game itself? Sakurai made it so you can make playlists and listen to the soundtracks.
They in-fact DO NOT have all the music from the games in the app Splatoon 3 and animal crossing dont have music from their DLC even though botw and scarlet and violet DO have their DLC ost
And MK8D includes its DLC, as well. 1:00 unfortunately it isn’t “literally everything.” For instance, I just finished listening to DKC2 on the app, and it doesn’t have every variation of Diddy and Dixie’s victory and failure jingles. It's only launch Splatoon 3, which sucks. I don't know why more people aren't talking about this.
Probably because the post launch songs are being part of a separate CD album release called Ordertune. Perhaps they are waiting for that to release in December before putting it on Nintendo music.
It was a very incomplete launch set. Like no 3DS games? Tomodachi Collection was such a pleasant surprise though. The app’s pretty cool
Pleasant
@nintendude794 Damn. Let me fix that
True but it didn’t have the other tomodachi life you know the one made for the rest of the world 😭

I sure hope it could add the songs from Super Smash Bros Brawl-Ultimate
This comment should be pinned. 😂
They should add the arkarm city ost because it released on wii u
-Splatoon only got an incomplete S3 soundtrack
-No Xenoblade (wasn’t even teased in the trailer)
-No F-Zero
-Only one Fire Emblem
-TWO Zeldas
-Why Star Allies, of all Kirby games???
-One game added per week
-Shitty performance on my phone
-They didn’t bother crediting the composers
Why did people settle for this?
All mainline Xenoblade OST's have been officially released (IDK about X) but yeah, all the other things you mentioned are pretty much valid criticisms.
Because some Nintendo fans will literally settle for anything even if its the bare minimum done by their million dollar company
Star allies over forgotten land is bewildering
@Unowdvalco plenty of people have complained about the app while I haven't seen a single person who is genuinely happy with it.
we might get the rest of S3 soundtrack once ordertune releases irl
I watched the full 7 hour video. It was great but now I’m sad because I have nothing to watch while bored in school now.
I got English Kirby Star Allies music names after 6 years so I'm happy
Also actual names too.
Nintendo: charges way too much money to listen their music, creates an iffy app for their music, and constantly takes down their reuploaded music from youtube....
Me: just downloads them and uploads them on my own channel, and sets them to private
Doesn't setting your video to private trigger the copyright flag anyways ?
In Smash Ultimate, you can see the credits for each song. I imagine that if Nintendo owns the rights to the song/remix then it'll be okay for them to upload. Otherwise, yeah they may not be uploaded onto it
In Nintendo Music, you can’t see the credits for any song.
Also having the right to include a song in a video game and the right to distribute the song via streaming are different rights that are usually negotiated separately
You want Switch 2? Nah we’re gonna give you alarm clock and a music app.
Can i go one day without people mentioning the Switch 2 in an unrelated video?? No?? -_-

Well same thing happend to gmod i think its some trolls tbh!
This can be done in 2 ways:
1:41 except for us splatoon fans :')
Don’t worry ordertune comes out soon….hopefully
They nuked my favorite Wario music channel for an app that doesn't even HAVE any Wario music on it!
Screw you, Nintendo!
Same for me with Mario & Luigi RPGs, like wtf did celextyn v2 and splatmeggy do to you nintendo? I kinda doubt they're ever putting the partners in time soundtrack on the app at least within the decade yet they're removing nearly all of it from TH-cam.
It was the one who uploaded Wario Land 4 music ot someone else?
hearing him talk about how every game on there has every song as a splatoon fan hurts my body and soul

That would validate the app for me.
its actually low quality 320kpbs. its not good, its just better than what you get from the actual consoles and the rips on youtube.
@@Jonas-tc8qt well its fine. but it's not good. it's just fine. real orchestral music has a lot more detail.
I think its also annoying that they dont upload the whole ost at once like there is still the paldea gym leader theme , about 4/5 of the splatoon 3 ost and all the last lap songs from mario kart missing
Edit: the gym leader theme is there but for some reason paired with the "when trainers eyes meet gym leader" theme

You can pirate the music luckily you may have to google my username for it to show up.
The way he pronounces every sentence the same way can drive one crazy.
The lack of 3ds songs really hurts me, because Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon is my favorite video game soundtrack, so it hurts to not see it here.
I got hyped thinking I could play the New Leaf soundtrack, only to find out there isn’t even a 3DS category.
All of the 3ds system music could be its own category. System setup, settings, INTERNET MUSIC, all of the eShop soundtracks, ALL of it. That isn't even touching the _games._

* Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
* Mario Party Superstars
* Super Mario Party Jamboree

I think it would be amazing if instead of weekly, they released game tracks every 3-5 days
Also oh my god they added skyward sword I love that game so much,

Atlus is owned by SEGA, not Nintendo. So you're right about the coping.
The first couple of SMT games are on Japanese NSO, so there’s a non zero chance it could happen, although it probably won’t.

Probably OGGs or AACs, more likely.
smash ultimate has like over 300 remixes alone, and probably some more 100 or so tracks for the game(menu, training mode, etc), then jingles like the victory themes, jingles from obscure/rarely accessed modes, and it starts to pile up very quickly.
