@@Nina1800 Believe it or not, this was my first movie since Rio 2. The only movies that I've watched with Anne Hathaway are her early roles, family friendly roles like The Princess Diaries, Ella Enchanted and what I previously said earlier, Rio, and this was like her first mature role that I saw. Like her character, Solène, I got the chance to fall in love with Anne Hathaway again. I've enjoyed watching Nicholas in RW&RB and Bottoms, but The Idea of You is where I fell in love with Nicholas Galitzine with all my ❤️! 🥰🥹🥰🥹🥰
Married my HS sweetheart after 21 years. We talked on the phone a few times over that time, but never the right time. Then lost touch. We hadn't physically seen each other during the entire 21 years. I was in Oregon, she was in Texas. Out of the blue I received a card from her that took a bit a trip around the country finding me. Within a few weeks running up the phone bill at night we finally realized that we should be together. I flew down on 20 Aug 1996 with it arranged to get married in her parent's living room on the 24th of August. We celebrated 27 years this past August. It was a tough and learning journey for both of us. Kind of like we had to learn things the hard way to appreciate what it really means.
This movie so heartfelt. I have watched it 12 times never gets old. Must be whent I met my 3rd husband I was 42 he was 32. And still going strong 27 years later ❤
I love they gave us a different ending that the book, but I so need the idea of you part II :) where we can see the evolution of this two! A woman can just wishhh .... 🤞
this scene captures real emotions and facial expressions. anne nails it. nicholas is so gentlemanly from her sensing his potential arrival looking at the window, to her face realising she has recognised his voice and slowly walks towards it, to the im so happy to see you ive missed you i love you happy tears....ahhh gets me everytime!
What a beautiful song. I still have to see the full film however am convinced this is a very believable coupling…and he does seem five years older, funnily enough.
His mannerisms when he says “there’s someone I would like to see there” are so close to Henry Cavill’s interview when he says “I… run” 😁😁 I wonder if that was the inspiration! Ps. Loved this movie!
The song Nicholas Galitzine (Hayes) is playing and singing in this clip on the Graham Norton show is called "Go Rogue." It's on the original motion picture soundtrack for The Idea of You, and is sung by Nicholas Galitzine. The song "Light On" by Maggie Rogers referred to by @keatsshelleykeats is the theme song that opens the movie, and it is not on the soundtrack.
It was for the sake of Anne’s character’s daughter. She couldn’t take the fame that was brought into their lives from her mum dating a superstar. So the 5 year break was his idea (to have some hope instead of a breakup.), cause then the daughter would be an adult and off to university (if I remember that correctly)..
I would have likes this movie better is Anne Hathaway looked like a regular 40-something year-old. She passes as someone in their mid 30''s because of botox and other cosmetic things that most women can't afford.
The way you smile when you see the person you love...It's your most genuine, beautiful smile. She expressed it perfectly.
4:11 - 4:19
The moment Hayes turned around to see Solène again in person after 5 Years.
Hayes is like: You're as beautiful as the day I lost you.
Beautiful ending..So many break upps..Keep those you love close❤Loved Nick's and Ann's performance.Thank you so much

@@Nina1800 To me, the ending in the movie is so much better than the ending in the book. I thought the ending in the book was brutal 😢😢💔
You got that from How to train a dragon 2 haha, good on ya
@@joshuawood996
Yeah, everyone was probably thinking that.
I did it before anyone got the chance.
I smiled like that once. I probably wont ever smile like that again, it was good to see it expressed in film.
If only this happened in real life reuniting with the right person at the right time
It happened to me.
@redheadchick1585 I'm happy for you! Hope that happens for me !
@@sydneykramer2926 I was reunited with someone after 30 years of not seeing him. He is the love of my life!

It was the perfect ending and the fact that he remembered her 😍🤗
Cannot get enough of this. Magical. Literally transcendent. Hopeful. ❤
When he turned around, my whole heart melted.❤❤He's gorgeous btw
I loved that the ending was different from the book. Loved it ❤❤❤❤
I cried at the very end to see the way he looks at her and her smile and teary eyes ❤️😭

The Idea Of You is better than A Family Affair
Sooooooooo much better !
100%
Way better. It was so cringy to watch Zac now
I liked them both. I think they each had good merits.
Better in so many ways but one difference I really liked was how supportive the daughter was. She saw someone make her mom happy and that was enough.
Anne still she is gorgeous.

Love that the gallery is filled with colorful art pieces now. Hayes literally brought color back in Solenè life
Such an appreciated ending.

I couldn't find the instrumental piece playing in the last scene. Where can we find it?
Always touched with the song n the movie..❤

song title? is not included in the original soundtrack
"Light On" by Maggie Rogers 🙂

Only know some of the shorts, but why the 5yr gap? Seems like such a waste.

Many 40 something do look like her nowaday without any help of botox but with good skincare routine.
Many 40years old look younger nowadays.
Sorry but I still looked that good in my fifties and never had cosmetic surgery.
I still look good in my sixties no Botox surgeries
