- I've been insanely curious about this thing after being bombed by ads in my browser in 2020. As soon as I close or report the ad, another one takes its place under a different name. I hesitate to "name" the product here out of fear of getting bombed again. How good (or, conversely, how bad) is it?
Sometimes I feel like I've deliberately spent more money on bad products than on legitimate ones.
The body is not made of titanium.
It claims to be "nitrogen filled" but the tolerances are so loose. On the other hand, the air we breathe is ~78% nitrogen anyway so it could make the claim that it's "nitrogen filled".

Hi Ed, I bought this exact telescope on ebay for $9 and it actually works better than a $20 pair of binoculars I own. You have to pull out the front part all the way before using. Then you twist the front part to adjust the focus. You twist the back(the part near the sign 10x -300x) to adjust the zoom.
Ed. I absolutely love this video. The Eddie scope is fantastic, I laughed so hard.

At least you got a good "mini" scope. Mine arrived as a 30X25, 1000M/700M 2 inch long scope! Mine has a helical type zoom, no tripod hole and weighs about 1.5 oz. I emailed the company and asked is this what I get for $40? Their response was "we are sorry you are unhappy with your purchase". I emailed back it looks like something I won for 50 cents at a carnival. Once again their reply "we are sorry you are not happy with your purchase"! I own seven telescopes so yes I knew better. I'll just keep it in my car just to have a mini scope in car. By the way, before I buy an "EddieScope", are they good for astrophotography?
And the Eddiescope never needs cleaning or collimation. It's very portable too!

Made all the mistakes that you have documented in past and future videos:). You have helped me come to terms with my weaknesses in astrophotography and the purchase of inappropriate scopes and lenses. But alas I still do it:) I'm also one of those photographers that set up and shoot whatever looks cool. Using the scope at hand and not spending a lot of time on post-processing... Yep, one of those.

When things like this show up on ebay, I like to buy one, knowing I can then open a case and tell ebay about the fraud. I just did so and expect a refund, but more important alert management to the fraud. It usually doesn't stop the bogus listings, but it often raises flags with ebay, who then force the sellers to include a statement explaining the true specifications. Last time this happened was with computer thumb drives, where thousands of listings offer 1 and 2 Terrabyte thumb drives, which are really only good for 16-32GB. Ebay appreciates people letting them know of these things, though they are a bit slow to act.

perhaps the magnification is listed as a magnification of areas rather than lengths. Galileo referred to magnification this way, which is how he claimed to have a 1000x telescope (actually more like 31x). So the actual powers would be 0.31x and 17x or so.

I've come very later to this video. I'm amazed you gave it so much time and precious air. The phrase 'Chinesium Scam Product' comes to mind. This is something that was doing the rounds during Covid along with a whole bunch of other scam products sent direct from China by so many scam sellers. Disgusting behaviour by the Chinese aided by the likes of PayPal who tended to side with them against buyers. These days i avoid products made in China if i can help it. Sad times for many reasons.

Just thought you might like to know, I've seen an advert for one of these waste of money Monoculars (here on You Tube from 'Gadgetreviewstech.com'), and it's used some of this review of yours, edited in such a way that it makes it sound like you're endorsing it!
Even the $25 school kid Galileoscope shames that thing. As a matter of fact if you haven’t already, you should do a piece on that scope? It comes with some amazing for the price. Your paper towel roll scope made me rhink of it. It’s a kit you have to put together, and doing so teaches you a bit on how telescopes wor. I keep mine permanently fastend on a camera tripod for those moments I get the urge to run outside and look at something above in our amazing New Mexico Skies. The scope comes with a couple very mediocre eyepieces, but put any commercial 1.25” eyepiece in, and its a marvel!

I purchased this today from Amazon prime($26usd😵💫🥴🤳👀🤷♂️) will be using it with my dslr camara (i removed the infared and antialiazing filters on the sensor easy) to locate polaris and take photos of outter space with the cheap 3d printer i am going to design a hinge so this monoscope sits in the hinge and the plank lifts the dslr and my efs55-250 with image stabalizer...i will do RAW DATA...I just hope it is good enough to find 😀polaris in the Monocular Telescope

Hilarious but.... so many people are taken by these stupid ads and bait-and-switch advertising. I bought a "$200" telescope from a Facebook ad for the bargain price of $99 mainly for the mount featured in the video. The product received was totally different from the video and differed from the website spec sheet. In fact, the scope looked like a toy that a Barbie doll could use. Thank goodness for PayPal. After several emails back and forth with the vendor and a formal complaint through PayPal, I finally got the "money back" guaranteed but never delivered. I was out the money for shipping and return shipping. Moral of the story: NEVER buy anything on a FB ad!

Note: At 300mm, the lens on the DSLR is actually 480mm because of the 1.6 crop factor of the camera.

I'd like to attache a red dot finder to my zero power Eddiescope™. Do you have an OEM installation kit?
Also, be warned that some home improvement stores may be copying the idea; I've seen 10 foot versions with apertures ranging from .5 inch up to 3 inch. Not to mention 1/4 inch x 50 footers, but those are really bad quality.

Its not so bad for a 9 euros
It has prism for corection, single lenses.
When on maximum extended dont contract it to fast, front lens pops out from owerpresure.
At 30 magnification there is significant darkening.
At some 10 to 15x its usable

Who would sell a monocular telescope that's supposed to be better than $3000 + ones for under $100? That's a red flag. it's best to look at actual reviews on these items before buying. Don't trust reviews on some sites.
