This is why I can't care what these people think. You can literally cure the blind and they will still find reason to criticize you. You're better off just doing what you want.
psychology acknowledges it but I dont know what its called, you can have someone who is demonstrably sane and not sociopathic, but for some reason another person will do a good thing and they will go out of their way to complain and find fault in it to a bizarre degree, completely uncharacteristic to how they normally are
You can ignore them but if they literally do things like "Cancel them" or "Harass them", then what the heck is one supposed to do?! (I don't mean anything against the comment btw. If my reply seems hostile, my bad but it isn't)

Treating disabilities like they aren’t disabilities is outrageous. Today’s world is more consumed by finding ways to discredit good people doing good things than they are by actually finding a solution. We should be working to find the cure for all forms of blindness, not acting like it doesn’t need to be cured.

this is absolutely enraging for me. Not only am I disabled and have a condition that could leave me blind one day. But my Sister is actually blind. We are Blessed to live in Australia and around 10 yrs ago she got cornea transplants and for the first time in a long time she could see clearly. She had very little to no eyesight before that. Since then she got a really good job, could drive, was able to buy her first home which she had built and got out of the poverty of trying to live on a disability pension. Now today she HAS to go back onto disability because her cornea's have rejected and she can no longer see again. It has devastated her. and while she was smart and got good job insurance/medical insurance before hand it will never be enough compared with having actual eyesight. I have MS which could leave me partially or fully blind at any time as well as wheel chair bound, bed bound or other neurological symptoms. I live every day in excruciating pain. Id give ANYTHING to get rid of this ugly disease and many other like it. No one should have to suffer. While yes you can embrace your disabilities and make the most of what you have i think if you asked every single person that has a disability that if they could take a pill and cure it 99.9% would say and excuse my French FUCK YES. While yes the vid from Mr Beast may be click baity I think what it ultimately shows is the absolutely broken system that the MOST developed and the MOST wealthy country in the world has. For me to get treatment for MS in America it would be between 1200$ to 2500$ for 1 dose depending on the medication it could be more. That should be the true outrage!!

@@PleasantDevil This is the same thing asmon said in the video, there’s no pride to be found in having a disability. You should take pride in the fact you overcome the obstacles created because of your disability.
I want to chime in as someone who IS physically disabled (fibromyalgia, spinal stenosis, psoriatic arthritis) and living in America, that if you are truly disabled, you can apply for Social Security Disability regardless of your age or living conditions and get the majority of your medical costs taken care of. I have 100% coverage of all my approved physician visits, 100% of all testing expenses, 100% of all medication costs & while I'm not sure on the exact percentage, I have massive discounts if not full coverage for certain ER visits. The hardest part of getting medical care in America is if you are still considered able to work as they will not want to cover you if they believe you can still make money yourself. Thus the BIGGEST thing in getting approved for SSD is having multiple doctors willing to vouch for you. In fact, I had applied for disability in 2020 during the height of the pandemic and was approved in less than 2 months, with not only getting that much needed medical coverage that I had lost from being on my parents insurance and losing it due to my father being fired, but was approved for $4800 of backpay for the time I had been disabled before being approved. There really is a misconception about medical care in America that the government won't help you and that's not true, although they will certainly make it as difficult and convoluted as possible in order to frustrate you into giving up.
@@skycastrum5803 But that's not just "doesn't work" it's "completely missed the mark". Mental disabilities are an entirely different set of circumstances, and it's a lot more difficult to verify their effects on long term physical health and lifespan. Yeah, this was such a bullshit article. I suppose since cancer researchers can't wave a harry Potter wand and yell: 'cancero curo!' to alleviate the world's problems, then they should just rethink their career decision? People still die from cholera in the world, so everyone should just go back to drinking poo water? What a nonsensical argument by this TechCrunch idiot.
I feel his statement on that is both from living with disabilities his entire life and the perception of what a cure is. If suddenly his disabilities he has known his entire life are gone, he will feel less unique or lose self-identity. And on the other side, a cure is not treatment or a temporary fix. And people running around shouting cure only detracts from what was actually done. To even have this surgery, there are conditions that you need to have a medical chance of it being reversed at all, and even then it has the chance of not lasting forever. This point is lost to a lot of people, and he takes great offence to that. There is a hard case of envy too. Deep down people like to be normal and able to do what other people do, but that cannot happen yet. But at the same time, they don't want people to think they need to go out of their way to "fix" them, or seeing this video expect every blind person to be "cured" the same way. Letting people make that choice for themselves is enough.
@@CT-zg2mh I have never known anyone with a disability to form an identity out of it, in fact those that did form an identity often mischaracterize the struggles of how it's actually like and essentially disrespect others that don't have the comfort in their own disabilities. I don't even know why you'd choose to make an identity out of your disabilities - Honestly that sounds unhealthy to me. It makes sense to form an identity _outside_ of the disability. But to form an identity based on your disability sounds disastrous. There's a reason why the very aspect of a doctor exists. Doctors literally exist to fix certain parts of the body - Whether it was to cure a simple sickness or to perform surgery to those that might die if they didn't get it. If we were to apply your logic of 'cures detract what was actually done' then we should just stop all medical treatment since apparently they detract the value of undergoing a sickness, and therefor we should just...die. To live a natural life without any 'fixing' or 'curing' is to live a life filled with unnecessary adversity and problems. You see how much better a human functions if they weren't sick versus if they did have the flu? And do you know why they function better? _Because they feel much better._ Surprise surprise if you'd ask someone whether they prefer to be sick or not, they prefer not to be sick. That's why I wear glasses. That's why I'm trying to retain my vision even though I know that it wouldn't go back to the way before. And when I heard there was surgery that could redo my vision to something better, I immediately felt interested and hoped to have enough money to get that surgery once I'm an adult. Seriously, why do you think disabled people _want_ to be able-bodied?
Imagine being so vile that making people's lives better makes you angry enough to want to cancel the people responsible thinking you're doing a "good" thing
I watched the full video and my conclusion was that this person felt like who he is, is restricted to his disabilities, and there was no escape for that, so he tried to cope by identifying with his disabilities. Eventually he made himself all about being disabled, and also felt a sense of belonging in the culture of people with disabilities. Having a cure would mean he would lose both where he belongs, and who he is, terrifying feelings. So he has convinced himself the cure is dangerous for his life and his culture. That's it. His sense of self is threatened. Not being vile. Everything is rooted in pain
in my opinion the writer is just so seething inside that he wasn't chosen to be cured that he quite likely is currently writing up entire revenge porn scenarios with mr beast.
@@annath_ii sounds like gatekeeping to me, and emotional manipulation. What about those people that wanted to be cured so they can gain a sense of belonging that they identify with? for them its a blessing to be given that opportunity and being near shamed for taking this opportunity because you're effectively taking something away from that person's sense of identity is no way to go about it. If those people felt the same way about their disability then they would've refused any help, so why try and cancel someone just for providing an opportunity? if anything, hold THOSE people accountable for ruining his life and culture. Its easy to throw the word "cancel" around like its nothing and ruining other people's lives when its not even deserved, and whoever does that IS vile because they don't think about the consequences of their actions.

@@annath_ii read somewhere that in deaf communities, using hearing aids or getting implants are looked down upon and individuals who use them get ostracized and shunned for it.
The "deaf culture" thing is something that is genuinely disturbing to me. It's literally people choosing to identify themselves via their own disability. If we get to a point where no one needs to learn sign language, and it exists only as a relic of how people used to mitigate their deafness, that is a positive for the world. He is celebrating sickness.
Also, there is plenty of utility in non-auditory means of communication. Being in a loud area, being in an area that requires silence, being underwater etc.
It's such a stupid take. Yeah deafness can be a culture, but changing that culture or learning a new culture doesn't take away from what you've grown up in. A Chinese person from China has a completely different culture than an American. Does that mean that they should never immigrate to America and learn American culture because their Chinese culture will disappear? That so fucking stupid I can't even. The example of going back and changing it is stupid because yeah, you would be a different person if you went back and changed it so you didn't have a disability, but that isn't the point. MrBeast isn't time traveling and changing the person by taking away their disability. He's giving them a new perspective on their life. They are still the same person that grew up with the disability, but now they are learning new things and new experiences. That isn't a bad thing. Just like growing up and moving to another state for college or another country for work. Adding a new experience doesn't take away from what you had before. It's sad to see people that just live to hate any good intention or good deed. Hope you all live long and happy lives and the people that think this way just disappear in time.
You've used the word "just" which indicates that you (whether conscious of it or not) feel attacked by the guy's response. This in turn indicates that you're probably not going to be open to any introspection that could arise from receiving his question. However, as you say, you were in fact puzzled by it. Hypothetically, if a person follows their puzzlement as well as their hurt, they may find answers that they were not previously aware of.

This "disability identity/culture" mindset is so goofy, I still have a hard time believing it's real whenever I hear or read about it. If your identity is so fragile that just being cured of a clear and obvious disability is enough to shatter it, it's probably not an identity worth fighting for.

I've had a disability. Actually i've had a few. I've been fortunate in the fact that my disabilities were cured by modern medicine. First was a knee disease that would have left me walking with a cane by the age of 21 the next was cancer. Given neither of these things have to do with blindness, being deaf, or paralyzed. However, they are still disabilities. I can 100% say that my life is better after being cured than if I had go through life uncured. In fact if I had gone uncured I'd be dead before 30. That is not a quality life. Now, not everyone with a disability will want to be cured. People that have lived with a disability for a long period of time may want to remain living that way because they've built the person they have become on the fact they are disabled, but I'm certain that the vast majority of people would prefer to be cured. Also, due to the way American medicine is, most people can't afford these cures because many are treated as an elective surgery which isn't covered by insurance. So having someone pay for that surgery would be a blessing regardless on if the angle investor makes a video about it or not.
I truly believe that less than 1/1000 people with any disability would choose not to take the magic pill that cures them. That is, however, completely different than nullifying the struggle you went through your whole life by erasing the disability from your life.

There is nothing I wish more that to make it go away everyday. I recently moved to the UK where they have tiny stairs and I fell down them within the first week. 3 weeks of recovery from seriously injuring my back, I fell down them again all because my right foot doesn't bend! I appreciate these videos Asmon. You're really level headed when you look at these things. It's a breath of fresh air in the world of extreme takes.. like this guys take on disability. I hate the internet because over the last 10 years, people like this keep popping up more and more, it's toxic and harming actual progress we could be making as humans.
As someone with a severe disability...if Mr Beast wanted to exploit the hell out of me while curing my illness then I'm ABSOLUTELY all for it. Who cares how it's done. He could do it privately but as he has influence and such a following...surely he is raising awareness for the blind and showing treatment options. It's also a good message for people to be selfless, generous and to think of others. How is this bad when there's TH-cam influencers who cause chaos, irritate 9-5 workers and encourage children to go with radical ideas etc. Which would you rather have your child watch? Can't we end this and ask the people he helped if they are happy? P.S. If Mr Beast did something big for trans people. I'm sure it would be celebrated right now.
I have debilitating back and knee pain, and have for the majority of my life. Doctors tell me there's nothing they can do and I just have to deal with it. If they found a way to cure it, I'd be first in line to get the procedure, whether or not Mr. Beast paid for it.
He's pretty cool, but you can't say that he has a strong moral backbone cause he puts material things above morality. I understand that it's a part of American culture, but the point still stays...
@@TheAndreyCraft material things above morality??? How so? yeah he has a lot of money.. like a lot.. Zack has fucking company after all. But now look at that- he lives in his old basement in his father's house, drives an old car, has a regular house with a lawn.. regular shower like every1 else.. and it's not for the "show", he just lives like that. He eats burgers and chicken wings while drinking coke. He never goes to nightclubs and never took drugs.. He collects money for charities, plays video games.. Now look on any other big streamer.. Great room with neon lights, usually partying in game-houses. have teslas, live in huge homes (xQc, trainwreck, etc).. with his money he could buy a huge mansion like train/hassan, eat drugs, get escorts, drive lambo, wear gucci etc.. but he is not, what is the "material" in your mind? just curious.. he is not material at all, and the "morality".. never saw him do anything bad, after the middle of the WOD expansion in wow, when he was toxic 20+ yo before. and still, he did nothing "immoral" bth.
@@SuzukiChen I said this not because I was looking at his life and made a decision, I said this because he said it on stream. He was talking about crazy donate systems in f2p games and said that he doesn't blame its authors for it cause everyone would choose material over moral, cause material is real
Right... written by someone who can probably see xD written by someone who can witness major moments in their and their family's lives. Who can probably drive and operate on a base level without need of assistance.
Real-life idiocy. I assume none of the blind individuals who signed up for this shot at a possibility of a chance to see with their own eyes was forced to do that. Ridiculous and sad at the same time.
I have terrible eyesight and the Mr. Beast video made me aware that this type of surgery was possible. I always thought that a cure for eyes hadn't been invented yet, so seeing that this is possible has given me hope for myself that it isn't too late for me, hopefully. Hearing these people try so hard to turn a good thing into this terrible event makes me sick.
It's not a cure all surgery and it can (rarely) go bad. There still needs to be aid raised for all types of blindess. What mr beast did was truly amazing, but there's more to be done.
I think this kind of surgery only works for cataract. However, there's also surgeries for the eye lens problems (the most common eyesight problem, also fixable with glasses). Unfortunately, there's not surgery for some eyesight problems though.
@@Mr_Zx He's just gonna move onto the next project. 😂 Not open a clinic to help those in need of this same thing. Thats where most anger is coming from.
3. Theyre too dumb to realize nobody cares what they think/say 4. They double down on the "CARE MORE" knocked up leslie mann line. 5. they think theyre so special that EVERYONE ELSE is the problem for not validating how "special" they are....this is the kicker
Of the many things I am confused about in the article, the one that bothers me the most is the assumption that able people dont recognize disabled people as humans...... doesnt the very fact that people feel bad for us, empathize and are abhorred by the lack of basic human function mean those very people that feel that way mean they recognize us as human? Sure sometimes people dont always see past the disability but I have almost never been treated as I was not human or less than human due to people being aware of my disabilities. This author is making presumptions I dont understand how they dare apply to every person or even broadly. As an autistic person I suffer every day with people miss-atributing sentiments or emotions to what I say to know I would hate a person just assuming I see people as non-human just because I pitty their disability.
My father lost his hand as a kid, that didn't stop him, at all. He never complains about it, only time he asks for help is to tie his shoe laces if he has to wear fancy shoes. He runs a business with 10 employees and works himself (construction field). There's a point to people thinking less of him, I remember in a restaurant the waitress sharply told me to help him hold his plate at the cash register. He just fit the plate into his prostethic hand and walked away while she looked dumb. He also uses his prosthetic hand as a hammer to drive in nails, or just slap the shit out of stuff. Had some interesting experiences when people from afar saw him drive nails in lol.
As a CODA (child of deaf adults) and having a deaf sibling, I hear the same thing about not wanting to 'cure' deafness because many within their culture do not define 'deafness' as 'disability'. They also state it would fracture their culture. I can see their points as being valid in some regard, but I can also see things from the vantage of having my hearing and would gladly give one of my ears (hearing from it) so any one of them could experience hearing in their lives. Though as I said, they may not take it. To each their own. I love them regardless.
It's strange how wanting something better for someone else is considered grounds for cancellation. It's almost like if we make people equal they won't be able to feel superior to others due to a inherent disadvantage and that bothers them. Absolute morons.
Nailed it, it scares that journalist that there might be a cure because he isn't smart and talented enough to make it without identifying with his disability
self rationalization ils the CANCER of our modern/democratic society. EASILY by a WIDE AF margin. Identity politics and self rationalization Are really tearing this country/world in 2.
As a person with a disability in a way that it's not curable but not as annoying as blindness, Paying for someone to get their condition partly or fully fixed is not ablest. Attacking the people who try to help is ablest. It hurts disabled people and every thing IE things like ice bucket challenge does make the people doing it views which translates to money. Making any money in helping some one is the lest they can get in return for helping people who have it rougher then they do. Awareness is helping in my eyes. Hate the game, not the player. MR Beast 100% is in the right so long the people wanting the cure, asked for it and there is no reading the fine print or other bs that would make him a lying SOB. So long it's he pays for what people want and then makes content from it, sure. So long it's not to coverup a bad thing he did or plans to do in doing so.
I have several people very close to me who have a number of different disabilities. Not one of them views it as something to be idolized and celebrated, and not one of them would hesitate to get rid of it if they could. Should we celebrate the accomplishments people achieve in spite of disability, or the workarounds they use to overcome them? Certainly, those are 100% amazing feats. But the actual disability itself is an impairment.
I'm sure there's a 1000 people that will quite likely disagree with this article... because they can now actually read it for the first time. And yes, Beast may well have made money from doing this. He'll use the money to help more people in the future. It's not like its just a one time thing, him helping people. What has this 'journalist' actually ever done to help people. Sadly, in these 'interesting times' negativity gets clicks/makes money.
Idk Mr. Beast's motives, but the bottom line is that he helped a lot of people. It's such a touching video I had to click off. There are a lot of people out there who need help, and this person actually stepped up and did something, which is more than I can say for a large portion of society. This was a very good thing. This article was written by someone so cynical that they can't tell when someone does a good thing.
Empathy is a major part of what makes us human. To not be able to empathize or understand that people who have a loss/lack of a sense is a disability is just... psychopathy.
Take a moment, think to yourself "do i feel bad for this person who has it worse than me?" Did you go out and do community service to make the world better for them? Most us of don't, we feel pity and then we move on. Remember this the next time you are depressed and think being a victim gives you power, or that someone feeling bad for you will make you feel better. It doesn't, but that's just the way it is. The VA tells me when I get stuck in my own head I need to go do something, anything, not to make the world better but to make my headspace better and therefor make my life better instead of thinking of ways to end it. Make your bed, brush your teeth(whatever makes you feel good about yourself), if it takes baby steps to change your life then start there and you will run eventually.
I'm 50% deaf with both ears, I stay away from human beings for putting badge of honor on me for being disabled. I prefer to be cheered for looking for fixing that instead of staying that way to be object of virtue.
Whats absolutely mind blowing is i know every single one of us has seen a video where someone has tried colorblind glasses.. the reaction of someone who CAN see being able to see the CORRECT colors is insane… imagine someone who cant see anything at all seeing for the first time..
I have Schizoaffective disorder, a disability. I've had years of therapy and take daily medications for it. I am currently a very decently functioning member of society because of it. F all these people who act like it's not a good thing to try to fix your problems, they're the reason why we have such a bad mental health crisis now a days.
Sure there is people if they are born blind or atleast born deaf, who take pride in it and would not wanna be cured or fixed. I once dated a deaf person and they would not fix it even if they could as they view as part of their life and being. But there is also many people who would really really wanna cure and fix their disability.
People really like stepping in front of others and implement issues, just to fight loudly for them when most times they don't need it or care about the topic at all. Those people were stoked to see their families clearly. They're happy to see.
There are a few things that honestly stand out most: 19:20 - The argument that a broken arm is comparable to not having a arm or perhaps no bones in said arm(?) frankly do not compare in the slightest: A person that grew up without a 2nd arm (or no arms perhaps) would learn throughout 'years' to do things that a person with 2 arms might take for granted but still potentially learn them. One of my close friend actually had 1 arm and managed to learn how to 'Tie his own Shoes' on his own. Is it wrong that he could... guess to the author it probably would be. However: A person breaks their arm or both of their arms, will likely gain the ability to use them again, but in the mean time; They now have to do things that 'Isn't Natural To Them' and expecting a person to just change out of the blue would be absurd. Frankly the author comparing apples to oranges is sadly a disregard for the fact they aren't the same. In either case if someone caused mental or physical harm upon 'The Person in Question'... They would deserve no respect from anyone in general. 20:34 - I am confused here... is the person that is saying that if 'Cures' to themselves would diminish their own self worth? It comes off odd by far... I can say just based off of how 'Society' would view refusal of said thing to be a mental issue in itself. Not to mention 'A Government' would actually require 'A Cure' to be taken 'or else'! The or else is what I would fear for this person if they are wanting to keep a disability to leverage something... I think someone should step in and mention some possible outcomes to the person... like if their is any financial compensation the government pays out... refusal would likely cause them to be cut off, yet that would be more in the case of 'Proven a Cure'...
Whilst I do think charity porn is definitely a thing, and question the motives of people who brag about how much charity they do (who are they doing it for, the people or their own ego?) but at the end of the day, he’s helped a whole bunch of people and thats all that really matters.
So I get his point about not wanting people to think that disabled people are any less of a person than the average person, but not wanting others to have a chance to live a better life it should a be a choice for a parent in the case of a minor, or an adult. If I was deaf never heard my family say I love you and could then regain it it would change me. I have bipolar, if I could cure it I 100% would. I hope this person is living the best life they can I only wish them happiness and success.
I've probably watched a couple hundred of your videos Asmongold. This video and your reaction is probably my favorite among them and most spot on. People are crazy.
I went into this having read the article headline thinking "Hey, they're going to talk about how systemic ableism in the medical sector means medically treatable blindness doesn't get treated because it costs too much, and that it shouldn't have to take Mr Beast to come along and pay for it. This should be insightful". After having read even just the first part, my positivity ended up just turning into "Oh... oh dear....".
Imagine someone being able to assist you in attaining the ability to see colors, faces, skies and knowing they are now considered a bad person for doing so. 🤕
i am so glad i got to know about asmon and specifically this vid. being on the internet can be very confusing many times and at one point i was almost getting influenced that such bs thoughts are normal and correct. its good to be back to reality
You should accept your disability and still love yourself, but if you can make your life better in any way, DO IT and don't feel ashamed Not being normal is okay and being normal is also okay Also people remember there are different levels and kind of blindness "Blind" doesn't always automatically mean = literally can't see shit If someone says they're blind and can write or navigate phone apps, they can 100% still be legally blind
Well, this wasn't what I was expecting. Saw a criticism from an actual blind person that boiled down to "scale back your claims so you don't give blind people false hope", which I thought was at least valid. Not whatever this was lol.
The chatter towards the end who said this is a coping mechanism is probably spot on. Maybe they subconsciously want to be cured but can't admit that to themselves because so much of their life and community is based off their disability.
It could be coping if you're feeling generous towards the author, or it could be malice, if you're feeling selfish. Because the author's *career* is also entirely dependent on disabilities. If you cure a disability, then that disability doesn't need accessibility options anymore, which means the author won't get hired to review those features anymore.
I literally have no words for this BS. Incredibly pathetic "journalism". The "person" who wrote this needs help. Creating a drama out of absolutely nothing doesn't even sum this up-this guy should be kept away from a keyboard and needs to look at themselves hard in the mirror-they won't like what they see.

Bro, this TechCrunch article appeared on my Google Feed yesterday while doom-scrolling my phone. I did read it, and had just about the same reaction as I cringed down the page. Very glad to see this article being wholly shredded by people within the content creation space.
20:00 I think that is when Asmon shows his misunderstanding of people with disabilities and the article makes a little bit of sense, in this context. Asmon thinks that every such person "prays every night" to be cured. That everybody would do it in that situation. Isn't it a "tying identity to deafness" thing? But just imagine for a moment, that someone's disability would define them and their thoughts to such a degree, that they will pray every day you would focus on dreaming about being cured. Year after year... Desperately praying for something, that probably never comes true. Can you imagine what it will do to that person's mental health? Such focus on your disability will drive you nuts! And that is why in reality most such people actually move on. Of course, they would like to be cured and live a more full life. But, again, it isn't something that totally defines them and makes the desire to cure their biggest dream. If Asmon or somebody really thinks that every such disabled person is thinking all the time and focusing on their disability so much, then yeah - it is a bit dehumanizing (thinking that your disability will define you so much).
I have no idea how anyone could possibly be mad that someone is doing some serious good. are they mad cause he is publicly doing it?? He is not only raising awareness by doing in publicly but he is inspiring others by showing the world the good that can be done.

"a cure is not the answer" actually made me spit out my drink lmao

@@annath_ii None of this is an excuse for being an evil human being, literally wishing people pain and suffering because you go through it yourself. If that doesn't make you one of the most vile human beings on planet earth I don't know what does.
The person who wrote this article is so fucking stupid.

This "disability identity/culture" mindset is so goofy, I still have a hard time believing it's real whenever I hear or read about it. If your identity is so fragile that just being cured of a clear and obvious disability is enough to shatter it, it's probably not an identity worth fighting for.
That's why I fucking hate it when people parade around like this as if it's a shiny nametag. The ones that actually need help will get side-eyed and doubted when they try to get proper help or provide an explanation for why they're unable to do certain things.

I would like to answer the 2 questions you asked at 33:55 - I was born with Cerebral Palsy effecting the left side of my brain, thereby making the right side of my body slightly retarded. I was told that I was very lucky to be born left handed or else I would have both sides of my body be very weak. Being left handed has it's own challenges (using a gaming controller, lack of left handed gaming mice, the side the handle sits on a toilet (lol), the way a keyboard is designed, scissors, most cellphone designs... I could go on and on for days... but that's another story. With the inability to move my right side as much as an able person, It has caused me countless problems throughout my life. There is nothing I wish more that to make it go away everyday. I recently moved to the UK where they have tiny stairs and I fell down them within the first week. 3 weeks of recovery from seriously injuring my back, I fell down them again all because my right foot doesn't bend! But less serious back injuries thankfully. Occupational therapy, speech therapy and a school for disabled people helped a bunch with upbringing when I was young, which by the way at that age, your impressions on the world is that everyone has disabilities 'cos that's all you know. I still struggle to walk far distances before pain settles in my right side feet and legs but I get by.
46:40 he doesn't want the vaccine, he wants the iron lung back
When people can’t do any good themselves and can’t let other people do good as well
I have several people very close to me who have a number of different disabilities.
I really don’t watch his content but this is a huge W for what he did for those people.
No good deed goes unpunished.
“Jesus would be canceled”
He was.
To reiterate my favourite Orwell quote, “The only people who merit real sympathy are those who have been doomed from the very start.”
You can be proud of yourself :) keep it up buddy, you got this
1:58 You know, if I remember correctly, Jesus was canceled. It was kind of a big part of the story
Did the lame asked to be cured? Jesus was clearly doing it for clout so he could brag to his 12 followers on Instagram.
@@DouglasQuaid999 Exactly. And he even cured them on the Sabbath, which means that he was being antisemitic and ableist
Big true, never thought of it as being canceled…. Dang, that comment puts a new spin on things for me.
Sure there is people if they are born blind or atleast born deaf, who take pride in it and would not wanna be cured or fixed.
I once dated a deaf person and they would not fix it even if they could as they view as part of their life and being.
But there is also many people who would really really wanna cure and fix their disability.
I would argue the people thinking this way need mental help. He literally improved people's lives that wanted the help.
And those masses who wanted help are just getting told that a rich person must select you out of a list to improve your life. 😂
@@OddOtter707 what are you talking about? Lol
@@OddOtter707 uhhhhhhh no? It's telling people there is a cure out there being gate keeper to those who can shell out insane amounts of money.
People really like stepping in front of others and implement issues, just to fight loudly for them when most times they don't need it or care about the topic at all. Those people were stoked to see their families clearly. They're happy to see.
There are a few things that honestly stand out most:
19:20 - The argument that a broken arm is comparable to not having a arm or perhaps no bones in said arm(?) frankly do not compare in the slightest:
A person that grew up without a 2nd arm (or no arms perhaps) would learn throughout 'years' to do things that a person with 2 arms might take for granted but still potentially learn them. One of my close friend actually had 1 arm and managed to learn how to 'Tie his own Shoes' on his own. Is it wrong that he could... guess to the author it probably would be.
However:
A person breaks their arm or both of their arms, will likely gain the ability to use them again, but in the mean time; They now have to do things that 'Isn't Natural To Them' and expecting a person to just change out of the blue would be absurd.
Imagine telling a blind person you meet that you're glad they are blind.
Imagine someone being able to assist you in attaining the ability to see colors, faces, skies and knowing they are now considered a bad person for doing so. 🤕
Right, what does this article make the people who accepted help from Mr Beast out to be?
i am so glad i got to know about asmon and specifically this vid. being on the internet can be very confusing many times and at one point i was almost getting influenced that such bs thoughts are normal and correct. its good to be back to reality
To be honest I am shocked anyone took this seriously. At least to me its pretty obvious the people on Twitter are trolls.
Poe’s law baby
You should accept your disability and still love yourself, but if you can make your life better in any way, DO IT and don't feel ashamed
Not being normal is okay and being normal is also okay
Also people remember there are different levels and kind of blindness
"Blind" doesn't always automatically mean = literally can't see shit
If someone says they're blind and can write or navigate phone apps, they can 100% still be legally blind
Trueeeeeeeee dudeeeeeee
Well, this wasn't what I was expecting. Saw a criticism from an actual blind person that boiled down to "scale back your claims so you don't give blind people false hope", which I thought was at least valid. Not whatever this was lol.
You could say they were blindsided by Mr. Beast...
Nah this is standard modern day journalism. They create discussion and get a shit ton of attention. The stupid people are the ones that react/care about it
I'm so happy that Asmon exists, so my outrage has a voice.
Bro, this TechCrunch article appeared on my Google Feed yesterday while doom-scrolling my phone. I did read it, and had just about the same reaction as I cringed down the page. Very glad to see this article being wholly shredded by people within the content creation space.
A man who can see speaks on why being blind is okay
Hahahaha someone must temporarily blind him, then cure him and see which is better to see or not.
Such a great commentary - one of your best
The thought of disabled people not being real people never crossed my mind. But it clearly lives in this guy's mind rent free. He needs help
Dude who wrote the article is literally overthinking the fuck out of it, NO BODY said disabled people are inhuman! The only one saying that is him
20:00 I think that is when Asmon shows his misunderstanding of people with disabilities and the article makes a little bit of sense, in this context.
Disabled people think way more about their disabilities than Asmongold thinks about their disabilities.
@@FirstNameLastName-hg3st um... yeah... otherwise... it would be strange...

I have no idea how anyone could possibly be mad that someone is doing some serious good. are they mad cause he is publicly doing it?? He is not only raising awareness by doing in publicly but he is inspiring others by showing the world the good that can be done. I'm a pretty relaxed carefree guy... but It really makes me heated to think people are upset with him.
They are mad because its all a spectacle. Its to get even bigger checks. He isnt giving money away to give money away, he is giving money away to get more money. Its um... self serving altruism. I think thats what irritates people.
