Perfect lighting for this! Might have been nice to show people how to use a 1-shot record trig. It's so nice to not have to remove the trig, and then if you want to have the trig grab another 4 bars at a later point, just hold the track button and hit yes to re-arm the trig next time around.
Hey +Tarekith, great video. Just got my Octatrack, so I'm slowly climbing that Steeeeep learning curve (more like a mountain!) I'm enjoying the machine, though being my first Elektron gear, it's taking somne time to learn the "Elektron way". Your videos are really helpful and well presented! Cheers!
A better option is the Kenton or iConnectMIDI USB midi host adapters! Check them out.. very good stuff. I suggest the iConnectMIDI if you are looking to use the ipad/iphone
When you use the recorder trig and then disable the trig and record 64 steps of sampling (all this makes sense), would it matter what setting for the trig record mode is? example. TRIG ONE, TRIG ONE2 or TRIG HOLD I'm really trying to get a fully grasp of the REC1, REC2 and REC3 buttons and their related perameters....I'm getting there but not I'm not all the way there yet....
Nice turorial. I have a quenstion: Is it posiible to have on each trig nother sampling loop, as an example track 1 and track 2 on each trig another buch of looping samples on each trig ? I see lots of video's people doing this while they are playing the octotrack, but I can not find video tutorials how to loead samples on each trig in a certain track
only question I have is, when I do this and it records it has extra staticy fuzz in background that doesn't exist on initial tracks. Not quite understanding why this is happening, since I don't hear that extra static sound in your recording.
I need to watch this video like 100 times at least, so recording isn't such a nightmare. I want to love the OT, but after having for a year, I still think about selling it all the time. It's just so damn convoluted. (grumble grumble grumble)
LOL, I hear you. Just doing the same thing over and over for awhile seems to help me learn it eventually. That and having a clear plan on what exactly I'm trying to do with the OT, since there's so many different ways of using it.
Doesn't work for me. The recorded sample is always been overwritten. No matter what REC/Trig/what not I switch on or off. That's not a sampler. It's a nightmare.

JESUS THANK YOU FOR THIS
Good stuff mang!! Appreciate the insight. Couldn't figure out how to stop recording without actually stopping playback entirely. This explained how
Excellent, glad it was helpful!
Thanks once again Tarekith - your tutorial have helped me a huge amount!
Awesome video man! This will save me so much time! Thanks!

thanks man :) I really didn't understand all this record trig thing until I saw this video.
you can also use the MD Turbo midi box if you have an MD
thanks for this!
- could you please tell me what you use to sync OT with Animoog?
cables / connector?
cheers
Many thanks , clear and informative as usual
amazing i got it to work thank you. now my only problem is when the pattern repeats the pickup machine i recorded hiccups. how do i fix this?

Very useful! :-)
In MKII two you get to the MIDI channel page by pressing SRC twice.

Yes, but each track in the OT is monophonic. So as soon as you trigger a new loop on a track, the previous loop will stop playing.
ok, I see, so you play also with parts, patterns and scenes. I'm intend to buy also an OT in the future, so I'm learning in advance :)
Really helpful and lush little track, thanks :-)
Thanks Tom, glad you liked it!

Very helpful tuts. Thanks!
a lot of common sense stuff for some of us.. but awesome that u r doin' these tutorials for the n00bz! :D
It's an amazing machine, but for fucks sake it a convoluted cluster fuck of menu diving...thanks for this!
Best comment ever...
thanks very well explained
+david goodman Glad I could help!

It's so true that even the simplest things are unintuitive... this tutorial really helped me. Cheers
sweet! - cheers
you don`t need a 64 length pattern to play a full piece of recording, i`ve just found out easier method by just make trigger playing 1:4
tnx man!!

thanks for all the tutorials man, we appreciate it! keep em comin! sparco @ elektron-users :)
